Chapter 21• 'What If ?'

Third Person POV: (Adrien and Nino's Place)

Adrien, Felix, Nino, and Alya all made it back to the penthouse.

The entrance hall was dark but the dim moonlight shone in through the living room ceiling dome.

Nino and Alya stumbled in first, holding each other all the way to Nino's bedroom. Their laughter echoed throughout the apartment.

"The guest room is to the right of Nino's room, Felix." Adrien mentioned, stretching his arms out behind his back.

"Alright, preciate you letting me crash here tonight.." Felix mumbled. "You sure you're good, brother?"

Adrien sighed and rubbed his face with his right hand.

"I've been better.. I just need to sleep."

"I feel you bro.. tonight was a shit show. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.."

The cousins stood there in silence. All the scenarios from tonight playing back in their heads.

"Yeah.. hopefully."

Third Person POV: (Luka driving back to the hotel)

While Luka was on his way back to Zoe's place, he couldn't stop thinking about the hurt he saw in Marinette's eyes.

It's like they were speaking to him.

Or maybe it was just how deep and beautiful they were. Luka always had a weakness for her stare.

He scoffed at himself.

This one was different though... he could just feel it.

He looked over to the empty passenger seat, his mind jumbled with random assumptions and "what if's".

That's when he noticed something shining on the floor of the car...

It was Marinette's phone, reflecting the light of the street lights off of it's black screen.

"Fuck... she forgot to grab her phone.." He mumbled under his breath.

"I could just bring it to her tomorrow morning.."

But that's when he started to think.

"Marinette was home alone tonight. Drunk.

What if she forgot to lock the door?
What if some weirdo tried breaking in?
She wouldn't have her phone to be able to call for help.."

It was all a bunch of what if's and worst case scenarios..

Maybe Luka was overthinking it.

Even so.. he still couldn't help himself.

"Damn it, Marinette.."

Third Person POV: (Luka pulling up in Marinette's driveway)

He reached over to the passenger seat floor and grabbed the phone.

The Home Screen turned on to a picture of her and Alya in Hawaii.
