(15) AMUSEMENT AS A PAYBACK

Subhadra's excited scream interrupted peaceful observation of Arjun. Before he could turn to take a glance at Subhadra he felt a pulling force. He turned to see Subhadra was pulling him to a nearby shop. Though the pulling wasn't harsh, but still it made Arjun to move in that direction easily. Because that was all sudden. So he didn't even get time to ask anything, or to stop Subhadra. But she stopped in between before reaching to the shop.

"What happened, Sakhi? Why you stopped? You wanted something from that shop na?" Arjun asked surprisingly while eyeing over the shop in front of.

"Yes, I want to have some pretty bangles for my sakhi Lalitey and for other Braj sakhis. But every time whenever I have anything for my Braj sakhis, bhratasri help me in choosing the best. This time he isn't with me, and apart from that I need to show you the fair. That's why I am here. So I dropped that idea." Subhadra said with a bit sadness.

"No need to drop the idea, Sakshi. I know I can't help you with that much efficiency of sakha. But don't take back your heartily wish for me." Arjun suggested her politely.

"It's neither for you nor because of you sakha. If I take back my wish for you then it would be like I sacrificed. But here's no question of sacrifice as you are our guest, and serving you is my greatest fortune. If I take back my wish because of you then it will present you as a culprit which you are totally not. Taking back that wish is just the required interest of situation." Subhadra stated with a sweet smile which resulted in amusement of Arjun due to her mature words.

Subhadra was about to go back. Arjun held her hand, and gestured her a no. Subhadra was all lost with the expression of his eyes which gestured no. She got back her senses when Arjun pulled her hand towards the shop.

Subhadra started choosing. She was showing her choices, and was asking Arjun about them by describing her reasons and perspectives. She was admiring Arjun's choice also as he had fine sense of art. Sometimes Subhadra was instructing shopkeeper to modify the designs of bangles by saying to add and remove the minute designer accessories. She made engaged shopkeeper along with his assistants for perfection of her choice in a desired manner.

With all these it became evening. Darkness was about to strengthen it's existance. But it wasn't that much troublesome as full moon day was coming ahead. So the ethereal shine of moon was compensating darkness in it's own way. When Subhadra realized about time her face faded it's color. Noticing this,

"What happened, Sakshi? Suddenly why sadness appeared on your face?" Arjun asked with concern.

"My sincere apologies, Sakha. I came here to show you fair. But I became engrossed in fulfillment of my self interest." Subhadra said lowering her gaze.

"It's not your self interest. You wished to have gifts for your sakhis in order to cause happy smile on their face. In thought of witnessing the glow of excitement in their eyes. When we do something with consideration of others' happiness then our self interest incarnates itself into selfless love." Arjun explained, and made Subhadra amused like giving payback of his previous amusement caused by her.

"So now all done, or do you need some more time?" Arjun asked raising his one eyebrow.

"No, now it's all done" Subhadra stated with a little embarrassment.

Then both reached palace. Freshened up. Arjun was laying on couch by closing eyes. Exhaustion was clearly evident on face. Kanha made his entry there, and smiled teasingly.

"Someone was saying about my suffering period in morning. I am having suffering period as I am going to get married. But that person is having suffering even before the rise of chances for his marriage." Kanha said laughingly, and took a seat beside Arjun.

"Madhav, it's nothing like that. I was just a little bit tired." Arjun stated casually.

"Ohhh! Is it? So a warrior got tired so easily without facing any severity?" Kanha asked, and a chain of laughter accompanied his asking.

"Madhav!" Arjun exclaimed. But that provoked laughing of Kanha.

Next morning:

Arjun was practicing at arena adjacent to garden. Some noises caught his attention. He went towards that direction, and saw Subhadra was running behind a girl. Actually she was running behind her sakhi Lalita. Some other girls were also present there. They all came garden to collect henna leaves for ceremony. Arjun smiled at this. He was about to leave. But whatever he saw inattentively made his calm expressed change into a horrible one.
