It really wouldn't be so bad to have your eyes - beautiful, emotive and heart - wrenchingly open to his own devastation - to be the last thing he saw every night.

"Jake", you called out in a whimper, hating the way you were still crying. He squeezed your hand to remind you that he wasn't leaving any time soon, "Why are you so serious about me?"

He understood exactly what you meant.

For a moment, you thought he wouldn't answer but he did. He let out a short breath before admitting hesitantly, "From the moment you fainted right into my arms that day, I knew I could never leave with myself if I let anything bad happen to you again. I have to look after you because you were going through things that you didn't deserve"

With this, more tears came out from your eyes as he looked at it regretfully, "And if I lost you from my life even at this age, it would be the end of me. At first, it was just a stubborn crush that wouldn't leave my head, then you become something else for me"

Your eyes lingered on him, wanting to hear the entirety of his confession and you were so focused on him, you didn't pay any attention to the way he wiped tears from your eyes, "And even if you were with somebody else right now, I would still wait for you, Y/N"

"I don't deserve your love, Jake"

"No one deserves it but you, and only you", he said, resolute as always.

With a shuddering breath, you searched his eyes. He really meant that for himself. And when you studied him long enough for you to say he would be one of your real lost, the tears started and you feared they may never stop as your sobs broke through the quiet room.

With your eyes still watering no matter how much you blinked them, your voice choked out, "I'm sorry. I already chose Jay"

Jake said nothing, not a single word. He had long since learnt that Jay is really a threat, it would be of no use to fight, but he wanted to, and he would wait no matter how long. Even if it comes to the point of following you anywhere. Call it being desperate, and yet he was willing to sacrifice, maybe he would accept being friends if only to see you everyday.

And you were there to listen to his apologies as you keep crying, which would be the same sight that broke him into million pieces when he truly realize that.

"I love you so much, but that's not what I am to you", he said as he fell with his knees on the ground and allowed his emotions to consumed him, "And I'm so sorry for doing all of that to you without your permission"

And the worst part was that it was all his fault. It was because of him being so careless to his advances that it ended up like this. It was because of his fear of losing to everyone that you just distanced yourself more from him. It was all his fault and he didn't know how he could solve all this mess.

"Y/N", he sobbed as he pulled you into a hug, desperately wanting nothing but to disappear by appearing this weak, "I'm so sorry"

Despite the tears rolling down your cheeks, you tried to be calm and allowed him to break down in your arms, "It's okay just as long you're going to promise me, you'll stop being like that to any girl from now on"

Never giving up on you, Jake shook his head, the tears rolling down his cheek as he kept sobbing, "Please, don't do this to me, Y/N", his voice broke at the end as he moves up his hand to frame your face, to look at his eyes directly, "Please, just let me love you while still being your friend"
