You should have known that simply going in one date with Sunghoon wouldn't end the matter. Instead, you woke up the next morning in a recognition that like his bestfriend, he had upped his game. Earlier in the breakfast, when there's knock in the front door, your mom told you to see who is it.
Your steps slowed as you opened it up, spotting a bouquet of flowers on the doormat and there was the last sound of a car leaving the driveway, not enabling you to see just who had left it there.
Spotting Sunoo lounging in their porch as he wore a massive sunglasses to protect his eyes from the sun, you poked your head out from the door way and ask, "Hey, have you seen the one who dropped off the flowers here?"
He looked up briefly from his phone and lifted up his shades, "The beautiful bouquets of carnation and sunflowers?"
"Right. Did you see who delivered it?"
"I don't want to say", Sunoo admitted as he shakes his head. "The person signalled me not to say anything, so I should do it"
At the call of your mom, you left the front step with the bouquet and head to the kitchen when Sunoo called out to you, "Check to see if he left a card inside!"
Since this was your first time receiving flowers from someone, you hadn't really thought of that. At the second call from your mom, it leads you to shut the front door closed and looked back at the bouquet. Sure enough, there's the card tied to one of the sunflowers with your name written on it.
As you entered the kitchen, the eyes of your parents was suddenly charging onto the presence of the flowers. Daniel was still asleep, so you were save from his roasting jokes and when you sit down on the table, there's no words from either Dad or Mom as you reached out for the card and opened it.
Thanks for taking the time to go out with me on a date. Maybe next time we could do it again?
Park Sunghoon
It was enough to make you shake your head slightly as you put the small card back into it's envelope before shoving the entire thing down your pocket. Still on the move of ignoring your mom's searching gaze along dad's, you traced your thumb against one of the yellow petals. The combination of carnation and sunflower had always been your favorite for its meaning.
Looking away from the flowers as you handed it to mom, you asked quietly, "What should I do about it?"
Her expression shifted as if remembering something, "As much as I want to ask you to throw it away, I know you don't want to", she said as she shared a concealed look with your dad. "So, just put it in a base and display it at your room"
