I walked through the halls. I hated this place. I wish Annabeth was here, she knew how to make me laugh. She was my best friend. I don't abandon my friends and yet, I don't know where she is or if she's alive. I stopped at a door and knocked on it three times. Jake opened it, looking up and down the hall before pulling me into the room, I saw Louise Cooper and Maryanne Summers, I knew that they had children who had been sent outside
"What's going on?" I asked as Jake closed the door
"James is out of control" Jake said and I looked at him
"How So?" I questioned, the three adults looked at each other
"The resources we have left won't last us long enough for them to get back, that's a risk. We have to make him see that. We have to evacuate" Jake said looking to the ground, I saw Maryanne biting her lip
"Look, I get what you're saying Jake. I do. But there's no way to tell whether the outdoors is survivable. If we evacuate, we could be sending our people to their deaths" I said, they looked at each other again
"Courtney, you love Annabeth, she's like a sister to you. If it's survivable then Annabeth's out there. We want you to go after her, James and the Committee have eyes on us, there's nothing we can do at the moment, but you can do everything you can" Maryanne said, I looked at the three of them, they were alone, their loves had died and their children were out there somewhere, all alone
"I'll do it. But I'm gonna need a radio, some guns and a hazmat suit just in case" I said and they nodded
"Anything" Jake said
