I started following the trail with Nick and Nate behind me, I was going to get Abby back even if it killed me
"Hey, Princess, don't you think we should wait until we have a little more information" Nate said as I stopped, opening my backpack, I grabbed the gun and loaded it
"More information? I just saw her blood coating the ground, I have all the information I need" I said as I stood up pulling my bag over my shoulders and walking again
"Rushing in, guns blazing is only going to make things worse" Nate said as I kept walking
"I'm getting her back, I'm willing to do what it takes" I said stubbornly as I kept walking
"You're gonna get yourself killed" he called, I ignored him and kept walking
"She's not gonna listen to you. She obviously doesn't care about herself" Nick said
"You're gonna get that girl killed" he called, I stopped in my tracks and turned around walking towards them
"Tell me, have either of you fought in a war before" I said, my eyes darted between them, I must've looked fierce even though I was quite small in size
"No" they responded
"Then you have no idea of what's going on out there. She is alone and defenceless. In mere hours they could be feeding her to their dogs or worse, they're soldiers" I said, I saw him side glance Nick
"Have you ever been in a war, Princess?" Nate asked me
"I fight my war every day" I said defiantly then I turned around
"But you know, it doesn't matter. We can just let her die, let her final moments be painful, let her final thoughts be that no one cared enough. But you're going to have to live with it for the rest of your life" I said, Nate sighed, but I was right, there's no third way
"I'm not saying that. I'm just saying that there has to be another way" Nate said
"They've started a war, there's only one way" I said, it was unnerving that I had to explain this to him but still he acted as if he wasn't afraid of what might happen if we didn't retaliate
"Tell me Princess, What got you locked up in the first place?" Nate asked, he was testing my mindset
"I killed Minister Roland" I said, I could sense the horrified feeling radiating off of Nick
"Why?" Nick asked taking a gulp and I laughed dryly knowing I had fallen for the trick that Nate led me into
"He was a tyrant. He played the good leader role well but I saw through it. I saw through it the moment he raped my mother and then cut her head clean off" I said, I remembered that day all too well, it plagued my every thought, my every dream. I saw her head in his hands every time I closed my eyes. I saw them rethink everything they had said to me
"That's rough. I'm sorry, Princess" Nate said with pity as he looked down
"If you think that's rough then you should know that my war is far worse than that" I said, telling them of my struggles will make them think that I am week, that I'm a liability
"The sun's going down. Wait until tomorrow and we'll negotiate with them" Nate said, I knew that there was no negotiating with the savages but I also knew that I had to do what was right
"Fine" I sighed
