"So what, Jun Ho? I can't say the man was an idiot because he is dead?"

"Senator Kang, Jun Ho must be tired. He probably isn't thinking straight right now we should brunch and let him get some rest," Kwon Jin said as he tried to play the peacemaker.

Kang Baek Hyun cleared his throat, "yes, you are right," he replied.

Kwon Jin gestured with his hands towards the veranda, and the two settled to eat.

Jun Ho went to his room more frustrated than ever. The senator waited for his shadow to disappear before speaking, "what were you two talking about?"

"Jun Ho asked me for the Satellite files," Kwon Jin replied.

"What for?"

"I don't know; he seems obsessed with the case."

"Which files did he want?" The senator asked.

"The father and daughter."

"Give him the girl; there's nothing there. As for the father, tell him it's complicated."

Kwon Jin nodded.

"I don't know what is going through that boy's head. At least he is seeing your sister. I hope we'll have a marriage soon and have our families reunited. It would be beneficial for all of us; I'm sure your grandmother would agree."

"Yes, sir, she would."

Kwon Jin's phone vibrated, the senator gave him a sign to reply.

"Oui, Marcーquoi ils ont fermé la boîte?[ what they closed the night club]" Kwon Jin said, looking at the senator who shuffled in his seat in discomfort.

"Okay, je comprends on utlisera les boites de Hongik [ I understand, we'll use the clubs in Hongik].ーEt toi ça va? [and you, are you okay?]ー Il y a un temoin qui à vu Leetuk? [there's a witness who saw Leetuk?] ーD'accord, je suis avec le senateur, je te rappel [okay, I'm with the senator. I'll call you back].

"So, what do they have on him?"

"Nothing, they have nothing on him, but they shut down the club."

"Remember, if your hand gets caught, cut it off and abandon it; otherwise, everything else will rot. But this incident can be an advantage for us," said the old man smiling.

As Jun Ho finished his shower, there was a slight tap on the door.

"Jun Ho, it's me."

"Oh, mom, come in."

"I brought you something to eat. Oh, my poor boy, you must be tired. Why don't you go to work at the prosecutor's office?"

"Mom, don't start if I wanted to be a prosecutor, I would have applied there. This is what I want to do."

"Why aren't you having a brunch with your father?"

"I left the two to talk; politics gives me a headache."

"I heard you were meeting the Hong girl."

"Yes, later on."

"Try to make it work, Jun Ho. She is a nice girl. The best girl we can find it will be a good marriage for both families."

"Mom, don't tell me you've joined the propaganda."

"Don't get me wrong, I'm thinking about your happiness too. You are lucky; Ga Eun loves you. Not everybody gets a chance to marry someone who is in love with them," Jun Ho's mother said with a hint of regret.

Jun Ho's parents never argued, and they seemed happy. Jun Ho got the impression there was something artificial about the presumed happiness from a very early age. The Kang family was like a glass with cracks that stretched all over without ever shattering, holding together with the strength of his father's ambition alone.

This facade made the Kang heir run to where love and warmth reigned, and it was with the Seo family he found such comfort.

His family's situation made Jun Ho wonder if his mother wasn't waiting for him to marry to divorce. It was common practice amongst families. No one wanted their child's education to be questioned, for many thought children raised by single parents lacked and estimated a child from such a family could only reproduce the same situation. But once married, the parent's role was considered complete, and so many freed themselves from wedlock.

"걱정하지마세요[Geok Jung ha ji ma seyo= don't worry] eomma, I'll speak with Ga Eun tonight," Jun Ho said locking his mother in a hug sighing as he felt the weight of what was at stake concerning his eventual marriage with Ga Eun.

The only reassuring thing was to know Ga Eun's feelings for him were sincere.
