Chapter 38, Part 1

Ariella's P. O. V:

I watch from my chamber window with Mira as performers pile into the courtyard, a couple wearing face paint and wings and strange costumes. Mira gasps as she points to a man holding a woman with just his hands, while she's upside down above him. The man thrusts her up and she does a forward flip, before landing safely in his arms.

The onlookers cheer and clap as Mira does.

"Naomi! Yue! Come look at this!" I say, gesturing for both maids to come over

They come over and squeeze in beside me, watching a man juggling wooden pins.

"That's all for Arthur's birthday?" Naomi asks.

Yue nods as she says, "It is indeed. He gets circus performers and the whole package deal."

"Well, he is Crown Prince," I say, as we pull back from the window. "Do you think Uther will join the celebration?"

"It's hard to say," Yue says.

Naomi inputs, "I don't think Uther will want to miss his own son's birthday, even in his current condition."

"Well, we'll see, I suppose," I say.

"You're singing for the Prince's birthday, Ari?" Yue asks.

I nod. "I've got the perfect song written! I can't wait for Arthur to hear it! I know he'll love it!"

I'd gotten Arthur a finely made dagger for his birthday, and my song is a little extra special gift to him. Phillip had gotten Arthur a finely made sword, Katherine a moonstone healing ring, Eric, a new set of brown leather boots, and daddy has gotten him a gold lace face plate brow band for him to put on Torrento, and Mira had gotten Arthur a new black leather pouch, which is helped her to buy, of course.
