Ariella's P. O. V:

I lie on my bed that night, my hand stroking my Maine Coon cat's fur. I'd bathed and changed earlier, but after dinner, I had dressed in my lilac nightgown, still overcome with the shock of having a troll for a possible stepmother in-law.

Just then, there's a knock on my door. I wasn't really in the mood to talk to anyone, so I call, "I'm not in the mood. Go away!"

"It's Merlin," The warlock responds, and I sigh.

I guess I need his company right now, just not anyone else. "Come in," I say, and I sit up as he enters, shutting the door behind him and approaching my bed.

"How are you doing, Ari?" Merlin asks carefully.

"How do you think? If I still end up marrying Arthur, and if we don't find a way to stop Catrina, I'm going to have a troll for a stepmother in-law! Do you have any idea how that feels?" I groan as I let myself fall on my side, and bury my face in my pillow. "It was bad enough that I got engaged to somebody I don't like, now this happened!"

"I'm sorry, Ari. I wish there was more I could do," Merlin says genuinely.

I sit up as I shake my head and say, "No, it's not your fault, Merlin. We just should never have trusted Jonas. It's partially my fault because I have a tendency to help anyone and any creature in need, especially if they're hurt like that." I heave a sigh as Merlin sits on my right, sympathy on his face.

"How are you coping with it, though?"

"As well as I can manage," I murmur with a shrug, my gaze downcast.

"Do you want me to stay with you awhile?" Merlin asks, and I meet his kind, blue grey eyes.

I nod my head. We shift so I'm sitting next to him with his head on the pillows and mine on his chest. I knew Uther would kill him if he saw Merlin with me like this, so I reminded him to leave as soon as possible, but he can still stay with me for a couple of hours.

As Merlin strokes my white blonde hair, I begin to sing softly, letting out my emotions through music as I usually do.
