I inhaled as Kira yanked the rooftop door open, sucking one last free breath before I risked my life for someone I loved.
Annie.
Kira ran out onto the rooftop, and I followed her, the wind whipping at my ears and clothes. I couldn't help but remember the night Scott had bitten me up here, the night that changed everything.
I looked over at the power box, one of the wires was tore to bits, and sparks were occasionally spurting out of it. "Looks like someone did something to it."
Out of nowhere, growling erupted behind me, and I spun around to see Berserkers standing only mere feet away from me. Their dirty bodies were covered in a freakish amount of bone, and now I respect the effort Annie put in to kill one of these things.
They truly are terrifying.
Kira panted, pulling out her katana, "I think something did."
