Today's poetic form is the Japanese "Tanka". Similar to haiku, the tanka is a rather small poem with a syllable restriction per line. It has no rhymes -just like a haiku- but it allows for more freedom when it comes to the theme of the poem.

I do not know why
I am asked to patch things up
when the wounds are untamed
still leaking blood from the words
