Today's poetic form is the french "Huitain". It's a simple form comprised of 8 lines with 8-10 syllables per line, and a rhyming pattern of ababbcbc.

sometimes life feels so fictitious
as if we are part of some cosmic jest
our existence a labor ambitious
as we bitterly search for our life's quest
yet none of us end up doing what's best
fearful about incomplete achievements
for us, the wicked there will be no rest
our beings reused souls and figments
