a summer from a different lifetime
a sepia-tinted recollection
memories in my mind ring like a chime
thinking will I relive such deception
hoping it's not the end but the inception
alas the heat has reached its stifling peak
the spellbinding mirage is turning bleak
and my wandering disposition wanes
the only connection a decrepit creek
longing for water like my mind for flames
