Hiccup and the riders were at Dragon's Edge, taking a break from the responsibilities of adulthood, leaving Valka and Gobber in charge. They had even convinced Heather to join them. She didn't need much convincing, though it was hard to tell who she missed more, Astrid or Fishlegs. Everyone was staying in their old huts, except Astrid who was staying with Hiccup and Heather who was staying with Fishlegs.

Hiccup awoke to empty arms. This, he was used to. As Astrid often took an early morning flight with Stormfly and the break of dawn. What he hadn't expected was to wake up to the sight of his girlfriend sitting on the floor beside the bed, her arm clutching her stomach, her knees tucked up to her chest and her head rested on her lap.

"Astrid?" Hiccup yawned, rubbing his eyes sleepily. He was definitely not a morning person. Especially since this was his first uninterrupted nights sleep for months. "What's wrong?" He asked.

"I'm fine, Hiccup. It's just a cramp, go back to sleep." She responded, taking a sip of water from the canteen she had placed in front of her.

Oh no. Astrid and cramps. Two words that should never be used in the same sentence. Hiccup gulped. He hated it when it was her time of the month almost as much as she did. It made her even more aggressive than usual, which was saying something. Last month, she had hurled an axe at him because he was breathing to loud, he managed to escape it, but barely.

Hiccup was shook out of his thoughts when he noticed a bucket by her side.

"Astrid, are you sick?"

She hesitated. He took her silence as a yes. He let out a sigh and quickly got dressed, attaching his prosthetic leg in the process. He jumped up and rushed to her side as she grabbed the bucket and began to offload her dinner. He moved her braid out of her way and traced circles on her back as she continued. Once she was done, Hiccup took the bucket to empty it out and returned it to her. He attempted to sit her on the bed but she refused to budge and he wasn't gonna argue with a sick Astrid.

"I'll be right back." He explained, giving her a quick kiss on the forehead before heading out the door.

He made his way to the clubhouse where his friends were already tucking into breakfast.

"Code Red, Guys." Hiccup explained. The riders all froze, dropping whatever items the were holding.

"Great. Thanks for the heads up. I'll see you guys back on Berk. Snotlout is outlout!" He quickly jumped up but Toothless jumped in his way, preventing him from reaching Hookfang. He sat back down pouting in defeat.

"What's Code Red? And where's Astrid?" Heather asked. Astrid was never late for breakfast, or any meal for that matter. Hiccup gave her a slightly apologetic look. "Oh." She realized.

"And to make matters worse..."

"What could possibly be worse than this?!" Snotlout interrupted.

"She's sick." This made Heather a little suspicious.

"Oh well that's just perfect." Snotlout rolled his eyes sarcastically.

A few minutes passed before Astrid stumbled into the clubhouse. Stormfly was already there as she had spent the night in the stables with Toothless, Meatlug and Windshear.

Snotlout backed away as far as he possibly could but Heather noticed something different. Not only did Astrid look unusually pale and exhausted, but she didn't have her axe. She always carried her axe at this time of the month. Astrid sat on the chair beside Hiccup and even smiled back at him, which only made Hiccup worry.

"H-How are you feeling?" Hiccup asked nervously, bracing himself for the beating he was sure was coming.

"Better." She forced a half smile. She wasn't lying. She felt much better than she had just a few moments ago. But she had been on and off all night, so wasn't expecting it to last. Not that she would admit it. Now everyone was worried. She wasn't yelling. She wasn't angry. And everyone still had all their limbs attached. They looked at Hiccup in confusion. He looked equally as baffled and just shrugged in response.

Heather came and placed a plate of food on the table in front of Astrid. But instead of digging straight into her breakfast like she normally would, she just stared at it. Her breathing began to speed up, not drastically, but enough for Hiccup to notice.

"Astrid?" Hiccup placed a hand on her shoulder, snapping her back to reality.

She looked up at him and back to her plate. Her hand clutched her stomach, grasping the fabric of her deep red shirt. Her lips pressed firmly together. "Astrid..." she jumped up and rushed to the door. But that was as far as she got before spilling her guts.

Hiccup rushed to her side and pulled her braid back behind her shoulder, gently rubbing circles on her back. The riders all gasped. He wasn't kidding. Astrid really was sick. She never got sick. Ever. Hiccup fought back his tears. He hated seeing Astrid like this, he felt so useless, knowing there was nothing he could do.

"Hiccu-" was all she managed to rasp out before continuing to heave up the remaining contents of her stomach.

"Shh..." Hiccup attempted to calm her. "It's okay, Astrid. I'm right here." He said softly.

When she was certain she was done, she quickly spun in Hiccup's arms, sobbing into his chest.

Something was definitely wrong. Astrid was never sick, but she cried even less. The riders all stared in shock. Heather's eyes opened wide in realization.

"Let's get you back to bed." Hiccup suggested. Astrid nodded, still burying her face in his shirt. They were about to leave when Heather jumped in.

"Let me take her. You should get some rest." Heather said, knowing that Hiccup was seriously exhausted. He protested, of course. But she finally managed to convince him to go back to his hut and get some sleep.

She walked Astrid over to her hut and closed the door. She suddenly heard a Astrid cry out from behind her and spun to see her knelt on the floor clutching her stomach, in pain. Heather immediately dropped to her knees behind the blonde and wrapped her arms around her waist, rocking her back and forth.

After a few minutes the pain began to fade.

"Thanks." Astrid whispered.

"Anytime."

"How... How did you know what to do?"

"Instinct, I guess." Heather paused before letting go. "Astrid I need to ask you something."

"What is it?" Astrid asked as Heather sat her in bed, sitting in front of her.

"Have you and Hiccup ever...?"

Astrid's eyes opened wide and she jumped in before Heather could finish her sentence.

"What?! Why is that important?!" She asked, blushing and turning away.

"Just answer the question! Have you?"

"Have you and Fishlegs?" Astrid raised her eyebrow and glared, finding herself suddenly curious.

"Nice try. Don't change the subject!" Astrid rolled her eyes and huffed, folding her arms. Heather knew she wouldn't get anything out of Astrid without her getting something in return."Fine... yes we have."

"Really?!" Astrid gasped.

"Yes..." Heather blushed. "But we can talk about that later, right now, we're talking about you and Hiccup." Heather glared at Astrid who looked away and closed her eyes before gently nodding.

Heather squealed before clearly her throat and putting on her serious face.

"Heather, what are you getting at?"

"Astrid..." Heather took Astrid's hand and placed it on her stomach. "...think about it."
