Papikit na ako at nahehele na sa yakap niya nang may maalala. Kinalas ko ang kamay kong nakayakap pabalik sa kanya. Tumingala ako. Nakapikit pa siya’t papadilat pa lang. Hinawakan ko siya sa pisngi upang igiya ang kanyang mukha paharap sa akin.

"If what you’re telling me now is the truth. Then, why did I hear you talking to Catelynn and telling her I love you?”

Nag-explain siya ngunit hindi ito nasama sa eksplanasyon niya. Kung totoong wala na sila noon bakit may i love you-han pa ring naganap sa kanila? What is that? I love you as a friend? I love you as an ex?

He creased his forehead like he was confused. He shook his head and grabbed my hand away from his face. He’s staring at me while he’s thinking about the day he called Catelynn.

"I didn't talk to her while we were on the island. I just called her one time when I broke up with her. Not on the island but before we go to that place,” he said honestly but still confused.

"Our last night I heard you talking to her—”

He shook his head again repeatedly and quickly pulled me towards him.

"Our last night? Sa glass house ba?” Salitan niyang tiningnan ang mga mata ko. Gulong gulo ang itsura niya. “That was my grandparents, Lucienne!"

He sounds a bit frustrated and mad. Not to me but to the situation. Pareho naming hindi alam at tapos na iyon. Nag-uusap na lang kami ngayon ngunit hindi pa rin maiiwasan makaramdam ng prustrasyon. I guiltily pouted. I drifted my eyes away from him and just continued to look at the fireflies instead.

"You said you always choose her over me and that you would never marry a woman like me. I believed that that’s why I thought—”

"I was just confused that time. I already had a girlfriend but I can't help falling for you. Pinipilit ko sa sarili ko na hindi kita gusto—”

Pabalang kong binaling ang mukha sa kanya.

"What do you mean?" I narrowed my eyes.

He was startled when I suddenly faced him.

"W-what?" He stammered.

Natawa ako at naghalukipkip sa harapan niya. Tumikhim siya at umayos ng tayo nang makabawi sa pagkabigla.

"Matagal ka na talagang may gusto sa akin? Hindi ito pa-sweet talk lang?" Taas kilay na tanong ko.

Umawang ang labi niya. Napakamot siya sa batok at sinuklay pataas ang buhok.

"I told you. The first time I saw you…"

“How come? I pissed you off that day!”

“Yeah. You always do.”

Kanina sinabi niya, pero hindi ako kaagad makapaniwala. I believe that he loves me now. But if he said that he felt the same from the first day? Really? What did he see in me to make him fall in love at first sight? He's not sure yet either. That day, maybe he just thought I’m beautiful or he’s just attracted at first sight? Anyway, wala naman siyang sinabi na love at first sight, ‘di ba? He just thought that maybe his feelings started the first day.

Umirap ako at tumalikod sa kanya. Nakangiti ako habang tinitingnan ang mga alitaptap. Hindi na siya lumapit sa akin. Nang nilingon ko'y nakapamulsa siya at nakatingin lang sa likod ko. Nag-iwas ulit siya ng tingin kaya natawa ako.

"How about now?" I asked arrogantly.

He licked his lips then looked at me.

"What?" Balik tanong niya.
