Waking up the following day took a bit more effort than usual. I suppose the mental exhaustion must still have a small impact on me. I crawl out of bed and walk to turn on my light when I notice something in the window. Snow. Oh great. I was wondering when it was going to snow again. It was the end of January, and it hadn't snowed in three weeks.

I go to the bathroom and take a shower. I woke up early to take a shower since I was too tired the night before. I stay in the shower for a little while and use the hot water to relax my muscles. It feels perfect, and as I get out of the shower, I feel like a new woman.

I go back to my room and sit in front of my mirror. I dry my hair and put it into two French braids. When I'm done, I get up and grab my outfit. I decided on skinny jeans, a long-sleeve V-neck sweater, and my thigh-high boots. I grab my bag and jacket and head downstairs to eat breakfast.

After breakfast, I put my dishes away and head to the car. Anna and I are leaving early to make sure we make it to school on time. People in this town do not know how to drive in snow. This is weird, considering a third of the year consists of snow.

As we pull into the school, many students are participating in what seems to be a massive snowball fight. I instantly perk up and want to be a part of it. I get out of the car and run over to Lyvia.

"Hey girl, who are we fighting against?" I say to her as she ducks behind a car in the lot.

"We are against Eric, Angela, and Jess. Mike and Tyler are on our team." She states. I instantly make a few snowballs and hide them behind the car to stock up on ammo. Suddenly, something hit my head, and a cold feeling follows. I turn and see Angela and Jess standing behind us with snowballs.

"Good morning, ladies," Jess says to us, smirking. She has two snowballs in her hands, as well as Angela.

"Good morning to you two as well," I say. I quickly reach down, grab a few snowballs, and throw them at them. They also start throwing theirs and run around the car to grab more. We continue to throw snowballs at each other until the warning bell rings, warning us to head to first period.

We agree it is a tie and start to walk towards the building. As I am brushing the snow out of my hair, I look up, and Jasper is standing by his car, which is towards the entrance to the building. He is standing there smiling at me, and I can read that he is feeling so many emotions. I can't even comprehend any of them. I smile back and walk up to him.

"Good morning, Janetta." He says.

"Good morning, Jasper," I say back. He holds out his hand, and I gladly take it. We walk into the building and take a stop at my locker. I grab my stuff, and we head to class. As we enter the classroom, everyone in the class looks up and stares at Jasper and me. I ignore them and walk to my seat. Luckily, the bell rings, and Mrs. Smith enters the room, so they don't keep staring for long.

"Good morning, class." She gets a stream of hellos. "I'm going, to be honest with you all." We all look up at her. "I was going to give you a lecture on different topics you could use on your project, but I'm tired, and I need to catch up on grading your work. So I'm giving you all a free day to either work on your projects or do other classwork. I will allow some of you to go to the library to work and use the computers if necessary." She sits down and starts pulling out her papers.

I turn and look at Jasper and Alice. "Do you want to work on our project for a little while in the library?" I ask them.

"Sure." They both say at the same time. I look at Lyvia trying to do her homework for her next class.

"Lyv, do you want to join us in the library to do some work?" I ask. She looks up, and I wink at her.

"Yeah. That'd be great. I'm going to need your excellent math skills." We laugh and grab our stuff. Mrs. Smith writes all four of us a pass, and we head to the library. I am walking by Jasper, and Lyvia is walking with Alice a few feet behind us.

As we walk in, Lyvia speaks up. "Hey, Netta. Is it okay if Alice helps me with my homework instead of you?" She gives me her puppy dog eyes.

"Of course. I have to study for a test this week anyways." I smile at her and walk towards a table. I can feel Jasper following behind me, and I smile to myself.

I sit down and pull out my notes. Jasper sits next to me and pulls some work out as well. We do our work for a little while, and I am starting to get bored. I put my pencil down and turned to him. He puts his down as well and looks up at me.

"I'm bored," I say.

"Me too." He lets out a small laugh. Something about him is different. I can't put my finger on it, but it's there. He seems... happier?

"What do you want to do then?" I ask him.

"Tell me more about you."

"What would you like to know?"

"What are you wanting to do after high school?"

"I want to attend the University of Washington, and I plan to major in nursing."

"Why nursing?"

"I have a love and fascination with the human body, and I also love helping people. Nursing is a great combination of both."

"I know you will make a great nurse." I look around and don't see any teachers or adults around. I stand up and pull him towards the bookshelves. As we get behind one, I grab his face and kiss him. For a moment, he is still, but after a few moments, he kisses back. He grabs my face as well and kisses me harder. I lightly lick his lip, asking for entrance. He gladly accepts, and our tongues fight for dominance. He won, and he continued kissing me.

He suddenly pulls away and smiles at me. "Someone is coming." He warns. We turn and pretend to be looking for a book. A librarian comes around the corner and looks at us suspiciously.

"May I help you two with something?" She asks. I just stand there, not knowing what to say. Jasper comes from behind me and stands next to me.

"Actually, yes. We are doing a history project about the Civil War and need to find the date for a certain battle. We can't seem to find the section of books on the Civil War." Wow. He sounds so convincing.

"Oh yes, it is around the corner, and it will be the bookshelf on the right." She says, softly smiling.

"Thank you so much," I say. We walk towards the bookshelf she described and pretend to look for the date of the imaginary battle we are researching. After a little while, the bell rings, and we go back to our table and grab our stuff.

He takes my hand and walks me to my next class. Ugh, he is so amazing. I know it's early, but I am definitely falling for him.

And I am a little scared to admit that.
