Trigger warnings: Domestic violence, drugs and swearing.

Alice tiptoed around her apartment, collecting her keys, wallet, sunglasses, and other essentials. Normally she would have had it all ready and by the door the night before, but Jamie had stumbled in unexpectedly yesterday, completely wasted - as per usual - so she focused on getting him to bed instead of completing her nightly routine.

It was half passed five in the morning, so the sky was still pitch black. Alice rubbed her eyes groggily as she slid her feet into her runners and grabbed her jacket off the hook next to her door, but in doing so, she knocked Jamie's jacket down.

She closed her eyes in anticipation as the zipper noisily clattered against the wall and something heavy in the pocket landed with a 'thunk' on the floor. After a few moments of waiting to see if Jamie had woken from the sound, she breathed a sigh of relief and bent down to scooped up his coat and hanging it back up. As she was about to turn and leave, she noticed something on the floor where the jacket had fallen and cautiously picked it up, looking closer in the dimly lit entry way.

She couldn't make out what was inside of it, but she now held a ziplock bag that was folded in on its self and sloppily taped together. She tiptoed into her kitchen where she could flick on the light without worrying about it reaching Jamie in the bedroom. Setting the suspicious bag down on the counter, she pulled out a pair of scissors and carefully cut away the tape until she could clearly see the contents. Her hand shot up to cover her mouth and she felt tears well up in her eyes as she stared at the bag of drugs in her hand. She shook her head in frustration as she fished tape out of her drawer and did her best to make it look like it did when she'd found it. She flicked off the light as she went back over to his coat to put it away, and knew she didn't have time to confront him about this before going to work, so she decided to leave it until she was home.

As she searched through his jacket for a pocket to tuck the drugs back inside for now, her fingers slipped, brushing against a cool chunk of metal. Curiously, she grabbed the heavy object, pulling it out, and even in the little to no light that she had, Alice could tell what it was she held, without question.

She stormed into her bedroom where Jamie lay sprawled out on the bed, and flicked on the light, drawing a loud groan of protest from him,

"The fuck's wrong wit' you?" He slurred in frustration as he rolled over to look at Alice, who stood in the doorway with her arms crossed.

"Are you dealing again?" She asked abruptly and Jamie seemed startled by the accusation, but not surprised.

"Of course not." He lied easily and rolled his eyes at her.

"Then why was this in your jacket?" She tossed the bag of unmarked pills onto his stomach.

With a heavy sigh he sat up and looked at the bag in his lap. His eyes grew wide as he realized what it was. "Why were you going through my shit?" He asked, with anger building inside him.

"So you admit that it's your's?" Alice clarified and Jamie sighed, rubbing the back of his neck.

"Look, it's just for recreational use, okay?" He defended but Alice shook her head.

"Bullshit!" She yelled, "That's a years worth of pills for one person." She said as a tear slipped out of her eye. "If you were going to lie to me you should have come up with something a little more convincing. Like that you're holding them for a friend. I might have even given you the benefit of the doubt, except for the fact that I found this next to it." She said and dropped the gun onto the bed between them.

"You fucking snoop!" He roared, snatching up the gun and jumping up out of the bed. He grabbed her arm too, Dragging her along behind him as he charged over to his jacket and tore through the pockets in a panic.
