"Second Sister Twice Removed by Marriage"

Growing up alongside Gray and Lyon, you seemed to be better than them and smarter. Like Gray, you always felt like Ur was a second mother to you. You had run away from home, or more like escaped. Your parents, being the shit-heads they were, decide to lock you a cage for long periods of time for no reason. The longest was a week, where you just managed, barely, to survive.

Now here you are, a member of Fairy Tail.

You softly giggled to yourself as you noticed Gray and Natsu fighting over something silly, like they always do.

"You're an idiot!" Natsu yelled.

"You're stupid!" Gray defended.

Annoyed, Natsu charged at the ice Mage, his fist a flaming ball. Gray does the same, but with ice, of course. Suddenly, like appearing there out of thin air, the red headed Mage stops their fists, her face full of clear annoyance.

"The two of you are the idiots here," she says before dragging them to the table of which you sat. Lucy sighs happily beside you. She wasn't much of a newcomer anymore, being as she went on various adventures with Natsu and Happy, making you jealous.

Erza plops Natsu beside you and takes her seat, Gray beside her, across from you. Natsu stops his intense glare at Gray and smiles warmly at you. You smile back and rest your head in your hand.

It was quite obvious that Natsu had a thing for you and not Lucy, which most people knew from the start. You were practically the only one who didn't realize it, not even the Fire Dragon Slayer himself. Lucy nudges you.

"I think Natsu likes you, (y/n)," she implies for the fifteenth time that day. Yes, you are counting.

"Psh, please. I've been here just as long as Gray has and Natsu even said himself that he considers me family. No if's or buts."

"He let's you win every time you two battle. He never does it for anyone else."

Natsu intervenes, "I don't like (y/n) like that, she's family. It'll be weird to date family." Okay, that one hurt. He continues, "Right (y/n)?"

You pause, then nod lightly, looking down.

You start walking home after a long day of nothing at Fairy Tail.

"(Y/n), wait up! I'll walk with you," Natsu yells across the field and runs up to catch up with you. You stop and slightly turn to catch him at your side. He grins at you.

You two walk in silence for minute.

"(Y/n), the truth is, is that I don't think of you as family," Natsu says, out of the blue. You stop and grab his wrist.

"What do you mean, 'I don't think of you as family'?"

"I mean, you're like my sister, who had been taken out of the family twice by marriage."

You were confused. You blinked rapidly, racking your brain for even the slightest of meaning behind what he just said.

Natsu turns to face you, his eyes gleaming.

"Listen," his facial expression drastically changes as he continues, "if anyone were to hurt you, I don't know what I'd do with myself. I just feel the urge to protect you, even though you're a really good Mage, and the fact that you've spent most of your time with Gray-" You laughed, cutting him off.

Natsu pulls you into his chest and hugs you. You wrap your arms around him as well. You snuggle closer into his chest, his warmth comforting you.

"HEY YOU KIDS!" A random older, much older man yells, waving his cane. Natsu looks up and smiles at him.

"No PDA in public you stupid kids! Now shoo!"

Natsu pulls you away from his chest and plants a quick kiss on your forehead then lips before picking you up bridal style and running off.

Something inside you clicked and you knew this was right as you hugged Natsu's torso, believing in him.
