Cynthia dropped me off and when I walked through the door I saw Rachel sitting on the counter talking to my dad. I couldn't help but smile, they made a cute couple. I didn't want to interrupt them, but Rachel spotted me. She ran over to me and gave me a big hug.

"I came to check up on you", she said with a huge smile. Shortly after my dad had to leave to take Angela to the doctor. Thank God, now I had time with Rachel.

"Good, I could use someone to talk to." She nodded and we went up to my room. I don't why it was so easy to open up to Rachel, it just was. I told her about last night and about my break up with Collin.

"Have you told Damien yet", she managed to get through. I shook my head and she shot me a disappointed look.

"I'm getting there", I replied. I just wanted to stall, what was I supposed to tell him? "Oh hey Damien what's up by the way I was pregnant you were the dad, but not anymore, so how's school?" That would work out perfectly. I didn't want a lecture from anyone so I just told Rachel that I would tell him the next time he came over. I didn't know he was coming over today until I went to open the door. He rocked back and forth on his heels; it made him look so cute. Before I could think of doing something I regret, Rachel nudged me and shot me back to reality.

"What are you doing here?"

"Angela's not back yet?"

"Yeah, let me get her she went to freakin' Narnia", I couldn't help but snap back at him.

"Down Jade", Rachel said putting her hand on my shoulder. "Come on in Damien, we'll just wait together", she said inviting him in. I was glad that Rachel was there because I could be silly around her and not get serious. It was always something big and dramatic when Damien and I were alone. We told Damien how we used to steal the sheets from other hospital beds for fun. After a while I began to miss the hospital. It kinda became my safe zone. Then Rachel looked at her phone, "Oh I should be getting home", she said getting up and heading towards the door. I ran after her and tried to convince her to stay at least until my dad returned.

"Don't leave me, dad and Angela aren't back yet", I begged.

"That's good, you'll have enough time to tell him."

"Not now, you suck", I told her. She smiled and gave me a hug goodbye. I walked back dreading what was about to happen.

"Where did Rachel go?"

"She had to leave", I said in a soft tone. I sat back down and it was quiet and awkward. It stayed like that for a couple of minutes.

"I haven't heard you laugh not once until today and haven't seen your smile since...since"

"Since Homecoming", I finished for him.

"Yeah since Homecoming", he said as he nodded. He smiled; I knew he was thinking about it.

"I broke up with Collin", I blurted out. He looked up and I could see his smile get even bigger.

"Why are you telling me this", he asked.

"Because I know you would want to know."

"How do you know, what if I stopped caring about you and I'm happy with Angela and I can't wait until my kid is born and I could start a new life with her."

"Ok that hurt, but you're right I don't know."

"Now you know how it feels, but you're the one who's right. I did want to know and I'm not happy with anything that's happening with Angela", he said.

"It could be worse; I mean someone else you got with could be pregnant. Then you would have two kids on the way." As soon as I finished the sentence I immediately regretted it.

"I doubt it; I mean yeah I've made out with a couple girls here and there, but you're the only other girl" I let him think about it for a while. Then he realized it and looked up shocked. "Jade are you-"

"Not anymore", I cut him off. Here come the memories and the dreams and of course the tears.

"Did you-" I cut him off again.

"No I didn't even know until the doctor told me that I lost the baby. It happened after the whole cheer incident." I could barely force out the words, I was fighting back a total breakdown.

"You're telling me I could have had a child with you, but that's not happening now because of Angela." I could see the anger setting in.

"Damien don't, face it you couldn't do much with two kids and what about your football. That would've been impossible with two kids. Things happen for a reason." He didn't say anything else, but I saw one single tear fall out of the corner of his eye.

"I'm sorry", I couldn't wrap my head around why he was apologizing.

"It's not your fault."

"Yes, it is, if I hadn't been such a douche bag we wouldn't be in this right now."

He looked at me, waiting for a reply, but I couldn't or didn't want to say anything more. Because I knew if I did I was going to go off on him, about how he hurt me and how my life would be so much better if I never met him, but we were both hurting enough already. I just wiped whatever tears were left in my eyes off with my sleeve and stayed quiet. Before anything else could be said we heard the door opening.

"Hello, anybody home", dad asked as he popped his head through the door. When Damien got up to great him, I took it as a chance to sneak off. I ran to the stairs, bumping into Angela on my way to my room.

"Watch it", she hissed. She's lucky she pregnant or I would have punched her right then and there. I got to my room and closed and locked the door behind me.

Whoever said the truth would set you free was wrong. If anything I had felt more trapped and even worse than before. I walked over to my bed and flopped right on it. I scram into my pillow in frustration. I just wanted this day to be over and then forget any of this ever happened. I wish I could go back to my old life where I had one friend and had no time for any of this. The only thing that kept my going was the thought of returning to school and keeping busy with school and leadership. There were only a couple days left of the break, might as well enjoy it. I grabbed my phone and called Cynthia. We talked for a while, making plans for the next couple of days. I was going to make sure I kept busy. Less time at home, the better.
