If I can still breathe, I’m fine.

Third person…

Screams.

Whips.

The sound of murder screams filled the room.

The sound of a whip connecting to someone’s body mixed with the screams.

Together they created traumatising sounds. Sounds that will haunt you until your death. Sounds that will linger in your head until you finally stab your brain out.

It stopped.

The sounds stopped.

The only sound left was whimpers, cries and gags of help.

“Why-” Shaye coughed. She looked up to Mykel who was just staring at her. “Why are you doing this to me?” she managed to get out before throwing up her guts. The pain was so bad she had to throw up in front of him.

She had chains around her hands which were connected to the wall so she had no where to possibly go.

“You betrayed me, Shaye.” Mykel stared  at her. “I thought you were dead.” she burst into tears then spat out the remaining substance of her vomit. “That doesn’t mean shit. I was only dead for 5 months and you already remarried.”

He grabbed a chair and sat down in front of her.

“You got married to the one man that I hated with passion. Look what he did to my children. He ruined their lives, he ruined Imana’s life. What did you do?” He grabbed her hair. He had hatred and anger filling his face.

“Tell me, what did you do while that motherfucker abused my children?!” tears ran down Shaye’s face. She always regretted marrying Robert. She just wanted her children to have a father figure in their life since their real one was supposedly dead.

“You cried like a bitch and watched as he abused them. You let him sell not only our children but his own to people. You watched as he binded Imana’s life to Tobias. You watched when Imana almost lost her strength and power.”

He slapped her across the face making drops of blood spill from her mouth.

“But she came back better,” he laughed. “I knew Imana was always strong but never this strong. My daughter really deserves an Oscar for just living.” He shook his head with a smirk.

“When I found out she was never in love with Tobias, I was so happy. So, so happy but then my plan finally came together.”

We all know what he’s talking about.

Imana and Blyana entered the house Blyana built.

“This is good enough.” Imana nodded, looking around in approval. “I already have some hackers searching for her now but they said it could take some time.” Blyana told her mother. “Well, I’m still a very highly skilled hacker so I'll do some searching myself.”

Blyana nodded and watched her mother enter the office while she entered the living room. She opened her duffel bag and brought out all the weapons that belonged to her.

Before she could start sharpening them, the doorbell rang. Blyana furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. She didn’t tell anyone that she was here or where the house was.

She picked up one of her knives and walked to the front door. Imana walked out of her office and followed Blyana.

Blyana opened the door to see a woman and three men.

“Who are you?” she asked.

“Avena?” Imana’s eyes widened and the woman smiled. “Oh my, how long has it been?” Avena and Imana hug and Blyana just looks at all of them confused. “How did you know this place?” Imana asked.

“Tobias sent me the address.” she smiled and Blyana’s eyes widened. “Tobias knows this house?” Blyana looked at her mother. “I don’t think you should be calling your father by his first name.” The man said sternly.

Blyana just looked at his up and down.

“Darling, it’s alright. She and Brayson are allowed to do that.” The woman smiled at her husband.

“I’m getting really annoyed, who are you guys?”

“I am your aunt, your father’s younger sister. Avena.” the woman smiled. “This is my husband Anton and your cousins, Hendrick and Maverick.” Avena smiled.

Blyana didn’t really care about these people. Why did it take them years to visit and introduce themselves?

“Okay, so why are you here?” Blyana asked. “Your father asked us to come over to make sure you guys are fine. He wanted me to just let him know if there are any issues.” Blyana looked at her mother.

“What?” Imana asked, avoiding eye-contact with her daughter. Blyana sighed and opened the door wider for them to come in.

They all walked in and entered the living room.

“Mum, are you being serious?” Blyana whispered angrily to her mother. “What? I didn’t ask your father to send them.”

“No, but how did he know the address to this house?” Blyana raised her eyebrows to her mother. “This is my house, I built it so he wouldn’t have known the address.” Imana just held her hand and kissed her on the cheek.

“Come on, let’s get to know your cousins.” she smiled, pulling her into a hug. Blyana just rolled her eyes, “I prefer Zacharia and Phoebe.” she mumbled. “Oh come on, Hendrick and Maverick are sweet boys.”

Blyana and Imana walk in and sit down.

Blyana went back to sharpening her knives. “One is missing.” Blyana said, looking at her knives.

“Huh?”

“One of my knives is missing.” she said louder so everyone could hear. “Damn, it’s like you cherish these like a child.” Blyana looked up and saw her oldest cousin spinning the knife on his finger.

“For your information, I cherish my daughter more than these blades.” Blyana stood up and snatched the knife from him. “You have a daughter?” Anton looked at his niece, shocked. “Yes I do.” Blyana answered nonchalantly.

“Since when?” Anton asked but his wife tapped his shoulder. “What’s her name?” Avena asked. “Reira.” She cleaned the blades and put them back in the case.

“I have another Niece? Why am I just finding out about this?” Hendrick asked. “We’re all just finding out about it, don’t worry.”

Blyana’s phone pinged. She picked it up from the table and saw the messages from the hackers of the Aelin empire.

“Shaye Clarke, 45 minutes away from your location.”
