Vic groaned at the sight of the contact photo on her phone.

"Stiles again?" Liam asked.

She nodded. She accepted the call, pressed the device to her ear. "Mischief, this is the fifth time in the last twenty minutes. What is it?"

"You don't wanna talk to your big brother?" He asked in mock pain.

She sighed. "I'm hanging up now." She moved her phone away from her ear and pressed the red button.

"I'm sure he means well," Mason said beside her.

"Yeah, I know," Vic said, putting her phone in her pocket. "But he won't tell me until I absolutely hound him for information which I don't feel like doing tonight."

The line moved forward, getting closer and closer to their goal.

"So, what do we do here?" Corey asked.

"You write your initials on the shelf," she answered, gesturing to the student placing his initials down. "Apparently it's tradition."

"Why?" Corey asked.

She shrugged. "Who the hell knows. It's just a bit of fun before we become seniors."

"Yeah, I'm still shocked they let you pass sophomore year, much less skip junior with us," Mason pointed out.

Vic shrugged. "The school board was missing dozens of people by the time I got back. They just passed everyone. And Lydia's mom skipped me, just like the rest of you so we can get out of here quicker."

"That's why we skipped?" Liam asked.

Vic furrowed her brows. "You didn't know that?"

The person ahead of Liam passed him the marker. He took it and leaned over the shelves. He put down his initials and passed the marker to Mason. Mason did the same and passed it to Corey. Corey wrote his name.

Then, it was Vic's turn. She took the pen from Corey and stepped up. She looked at her friends' initials to see there was a space between Mason's and Liam's where she could put her letters.

She smiled and put down 'VS'. Right between Liam and Mason's. She looked down the shelf and almost froze.

There they were. 'LM SS MT KY SM AA'. And then a little bit away, 'TS'.

She looked back at the shelf and made a decision. She wrote quickly. But there were a lot. The earth told her more and she kept writing.

She took a step back and handed the pen to the next kid. She joined her friends against the railing.

"Who are all those initials for?" Liam asked.

Her eyes were still on the shelf when she spoke. "Erica Reyes, Vernon Boyd, Aiden and Ethan Steiner, Jackson Whittmore, Isaac Lahey, Josh Diaz, Zach Hall, Hayden, and Tara Raeken. They deserved it. They all did."

Liam took her hand. He squeezed it lightly. She squeezed back.

"Let's get out of here," Liam said.

Mason and Corey's heads snapped over to the door that burst open. "What the hell are you doing?" Vic asked. The couple looked nervous, while Liam continued to stare at the floor in misery.

"We're trying to get him on the field," Corey said. "He doesn't wanna move."

Vic sighed and walked over. She straddled the bench that Liam sat on. "Lýkos," she said. "What's going on?"
