Liam pulled a shirt over his head and turned around. He stumbled back when he saw Stiles on one side of him and Scott on the other side.

"Hey, Liam, you wanna explain what that was out there?" Stiles requested.

"What do you mean?" the boy asked, confused.

"That little display, your circus act," Stiles elaborated.

"What circus act?" Liam asked.

"You caught every shot." Stiles gestured for the boy to answer the question.

"I was in goal," Liam said, confused.

"Yeah but nothing, not a single shot got past you," Stiles continued.

"Yeah, I was the goalie," Liam stated. "You guys played this game before?"

"You're a freshman, right?" Scott asked.

"Yeah," Liam confirmed.

"But you weren't here last semester," Stiles protested.

Liam shrugged. "I transferred from Devenford Prep."

Scott's eyebrow's furrowed as he listened to Liam's heartbeat. It jumped. "You transferred?"

"Yeah."

"No, you got kicked out, didn't you?"

Liam was taken back from how he knew that. He didn't know this boy, had never talked to him before. "Alright, look, kicked out, transferred, what do you guys care? I came here to play lacrosse. The team could use a few good players, right?"

"No, no we don't need anymore good players," Stiles denied.

"Actually we could sorta use a couple," Scott pointed out.

Stiles turned back to Liam. "Okay, how'd you get this good? Have you always been this good? Or did it suddenly happen just once overnig-"

"Yo, Dunbar!" someone called from the door. They all turned and saw Vic in the doorway. There was a smudge of red paint on her cheek. She come with the boys to school, then headed to the art room while the boys went to the field to practice.

"Come on, we're gonna be late for first period," she continued.

"Look, I leanred from my stepfather, alright?" Liam turned to Scott. "He made team captain when he was a sophmore. Like you." He turned to Stiles. "And yeah..." The boy grabbed his sweater and his backpack, shouldering the bag before he spoke. "I guess I'm just that good."

He walked over to Vic who straightened off the door. "Took you long enough," she complained.

"Yeah, got cornered by these two juniors," Liam explained as they walked away from the locker room.

"I saw," she said. "Let me guess, you boasted about your lacrosse skills and that's why you have that cocky grin on your face that makes me want to punch you?"

Liam's gin immediately dropped. "Um, sort of yeah. You go to the art room?"

She nodded. "Yeah, worked on this one project I have to do. Abstract. It was never my strong suit."

"So, why'd you come here early?" Liam asked.

"My brothers were coming here anyway, figured I'd come too, get some work done on my project," she explained.

"Your brothers are on the team?" Liam asked.

She nodded. "They're the two juniors you were just cornered by." Her phone buzzed in her pocket. "Ten bucks says that's Stiles asking how I know you."
