You knew the consequences of bringing home something that wasn't of value. It meant not going back to the slums for at least a week while the boss did as he pleased with you. You could scream, shout, cry, though that usually only got you chained up in a dark room.

You were terrified of the dark.

He had realised that as well. If you made a single sound that wasn't one of pleasure, he'd chain you up there, often dragging in spectators to watch you struggle. To them it was just a game.

To them, you were just another toy.

"Oi Kaminari," you sighed, as soon as he picked up. "I'm coming home, put on some hot water I need a tea. No not the kettle, you know how Shoto feels about it. Where's the pot? Yao-momo's using it for soup? No that's the saucepan you idiot. Oh congrats, you found the pot, you aren't a fucking disappointment. No I don't have a racoon up my ass. Just make a tea. Thank you. Love you too, bye."

"Did you just say 'love you' to Kaminari-kun?" Midoriya asked nervously, well aware how dangerous your mood had been since the newest lead.

You froze in your tracks, eyes widening as you realised your mistake.

"I'm going to kill that bastard when we get home and feed him to my cat," you grumbled.

"You're a lot like Kacchan when you're mad," Midoriya snickered, knowing you would take offence to it but wouldn't act upon it.

"I'm just annoyed by the fact that our only lead might require someone to go undercover," you scoffed. "It's nothing big."

"Train's here," Midoriya nodded, watching as everyone neatly filed in, the two of you doing the same.

The rest of the train ride was silent, mostly out of respect, as many who came back home from work at this hour were dead tired. Neither of you wished to disturb them, especially because you were both tired as well.

"Ah shit it's raining," Midoriya muttered as soon as you stepped out of the train station. "I don't have an umbrella...."

"Here, it's a raincoat," you shrugged handing it over.

"And you?" Midoriya asked.

"I have a heat quirk," you reminded. "I only keep that in case Tenya forgets his, so it'll be big on you, don't trip."

And you were right. The raincoat was huge, so much so that it looked like a cheap ball gown on Midoriya's lanky figure.

"Oh my God," you wheezed, snapping a picture.

"Did you just send that into the class chat?" Midoriya sputtered, already knowing the answer.

"C'mon, it's comedy gold, you look so dead inside as well! Like Kacchan when he's happy," you laughed, pulling Midoriya along.

"I'm so gonna get Kaminari to prank you," Midoriya chuckled, rolling his eyes playfully.

While Midoriya didn't look it, he was easily amongst the more sarcastic people in your class. Often, his comments flew over your head, but that was because you grew up under a rock. Though it was always funny to hear him mumble silent retorts to anything Bakugo said, never having the guts to say it aloud unless he was sure he wouldn't be killed, like with you.

"We're back!" Midoriya called, unlocking the door.

"Yeah figured you'd get caught in the storm," Kaminari sighed. "I made you a hot chocolate since I didn't know what tea you liked Midobro!"

"Denks where's everyone else?" You asked, making sure all the water was quickly evaporated with the help of your quirk.

"Kiri, Uraraka and Tsu are still at work, Todoroki and Kacchan have their lessons, and everyone else is either studying or sleeping," he listed, to which you nodded, accepting the tea.

"I need to feed my cat," you mumbled, taking the tea upstairs, dragging Kaminari along.

"Guess I'll just stay here," Midoriya commented awkwardly.

"Ooh I get to see your room again," Kaminari grinned. "Wait can you teach me how to use some of those weapons?"

"No, you'll probably get yourself killed," you scoffed, unlocking your door. "Careful, she gets nervous fast."

He nodded, staying behind you while you squatted and fed her, a happy smile on your face.

"She's only got three legs," Kaminari whispered. "Did something happen?"

You stayed silent, unsure whether or not to trust him. Not even Iida knew the story, and Nezu only knew parts of it.

"She's a stray," you admitted. "Don't worry, she's completely taken care of now, so you won't catch anything."

"What's her name?" Kaminari asked, sitting down next to you and grabbing a treat.

The black cat was quick to warm up to him, even allowing him to pet her a few times, purring happily as she curled up on his lap.

It was a cute sight, seeing Kaminari so calm and mesmerised by the tiny creature, that you didn't realise you were staring and hadn't answered his question.

"Kosame," you mumbled.

"Eh? Light rain?" Kaminari asked, confused.

"I met her for the first time when it was raining lightly," you shrugged. "So it became her identification."

"I like the rain," Kaminari smiled. "Not thunderstorms though, turns out I can't be a lightning conductor."

"I am so deeply disgusted and disappointed in you it's honestly impressive," you groaned.

"Thank you!" Kaminari laughed, wrapping an arm around your shoulders. "At least I'm number one in one of your lists."

"Probably a few more lists, I just have to make them," you smiled, petting your cat under the chin. "Tired?"

"Very," Kaminari responded.

"I was talking to the cat," you deadpanned. "Here I'll take her off you, go lie down."

"Y'know Apathy-chan if you start caring for me this much I might start thinking you have a thing for me," Kaminari smirked, loosening his tie so that he sleep on the spare futon.

"My standards are higher than that," you scoffed out of habit, though subconsciously you wanted nothing more than to just fall into his arms and make yourself at home there.

But you knew it was just a phase. It was just a stupid high school crush. He'd be over you before you knew it, probably married to Jirou or some guy if he was into that. You couldn't get attached to him, so it was better to just push him away before he too, decided you weren't worth sticking around.

You laid your cat to sleep, setting down a bowl of food and water should she wake up at a weird time. With that, you turned back to Kaminari, only to see him passed out. You rolled your eyes gently, setting his blanket right to be more comfortable, brushing his hair to the side.

While you knew he liked Jirou, something that was only confirmed after he'd asked to go back to being friends with no romantic feelings involved, you couldn't help but want to stay by his side until your time was up.

Perhaps, in another life?
