"Arundel, you don't need to do this."

Rayll warned, glaring at his friend.

His friend frown at his statement as he avoided his piercing gaze.

"This isn't the only way," He paused as he grabs Arundel's shirt. "We haven't thoroughly investigated everything yet!"

Shock at the sudden outburst, the magician pushes his friend away as he steps backward until his back slammed on a dead trunk.

A neutral expression was seen on his face as he stayed silent.

"Rayll," he blankly spoke as he raises his head to meet his glare. "We're wasting time. Every minute someone's dying, either being burned alive or suffering from an illness. You understand, don't you? This is the only way to stop her."

The white-haired guy gritted his teeth as he looks away. He didn't know what to do now that he believes that she started the chaos. He was split in half whether to save the empire or fake the innocence of his sister.

Even though his sister is a murderer in his friend's perspective, he can't help but blame himself for not taking care of her properly.

'If only I accepted her... She wouldn't be like that. It's our fault for not treating her properly..'

It was a tough decision, but what's tougher was that his only friend will soon leave him too.

"Rayll, it's ok."

Arundel calmly comforted as he walks near him.

"No, it isn't!"

Arundel sadly smiled. He knew that he was having a hard time accepting that his sister formulated a situation where he needs to sacrifice his friend for the greater good. It was a noble duty, an honor, but it was also painful.

"Oh come on Rayll!" Arundel laughs, "Your sister is too much, she's too clever! We can't win against her without any sacrifice. Hell, if we need to accuse her as a dark mage, we need a sacrifice and I'm perfectly fine with that!"

It was painful how he will never see him again. They both grew up together as friends and promised that they will protect each other.

Unfortunately, the promise he created, was destroyed by him.

But it was ok because it's for the best right?

With Arundel's sacrifice, he will be able to end and protect Rayll from the danger lurking around.

He truly wishes Rayll will understand his thoughts, even though it's childish.

(I can feel the gay vibes-)

"Stop acting like a child and stop smiling like everything is fine! It isn't ok to sell your soul to that witch!" He raises his head and voice as he swiftly turned around. His piercing icy eyes glared at the white-haired female behind him.

She was there sitting at a branch of a tree while eating something he couldn't distinguish. Her face looks amused, making him even more furious because she was enjoying their misery. Arundel gazes at the witch with hostility.

"Oh~ Rayll dear, that's not how you speak to your grandmother~" Her crimson eyes glinted as she smiled. "Remember, I'm the one you needed, not the other way around."

She was right, she was the wild card. The only person who can testify what's going on. Using her magic, she can show the whole world how Knile planned and spread the commotion.

Rayll on the other hand flinches at how she called him. They were only related by blood and he holds no feeling towards her other than resentment.

"Rayll she's right and you know it. If I sell my soul to her, she will help you with the evidence required for Knile to be imprisoned." He spoke, still smiling. Astley was angry at his self for how he easily accepted his fate. He did saw it from his visions and he knew that this sacrifice will be a success.

"Yea Rayll~ he's right. Your friend is better at understanding things than you." The white-haired witch complimented while Arundel scowled at her, disgusted by the compliment.

"Besides, I don't understand why it is so hard for you to agree with his idea. It was your fault in the first place why my granddaughter decided to use this empire as a chessboard."

Rayll widens his eyes as he started remembering the past. She was right, part of his friend's sacrifice was his fault.

"It wasn't his fault!" The mage shouted. "It was her own decision and no one's at fault!" He defended as he created a small fireball and angrily threw it at her. The woman flicks her finger and the fireball stayed frozen in time.

"Oh yeah~ where's your evidence?" The witch mocks as she smirks. Arundel clicks his tongue as he looks away. He then made the fireball disappear.

"See~ you don't even know what you're talking about. Wysteria's only heir sure knows how to talk with stuff they don't even know anything about." She rolled her eyes. Even though she was old, she was still attractive and quite sarcastic. That might be also the reason why she was forced to live in the forest, isolated from everyone. She was sharp-tongued and quite offended every noble she sees, even the empress.

"Oh come on, hurry up and let him go. I'm hungry." She jokes and earned a scowl from Rayll.

"What do you mean by that?!" He faced her, ready to draw his sword; eyes filled with bitterness. He still couldn't understand why his grandmother wanted his soul.

"Ha~ I'm just kidding! I'm trying to lighten the mood around you! You're too gloomy it doesn't suit your attractive face!"

"This isn't time for jokes Grandma." He harshly and coldly warned.

The old witch wasn't offended by it and instead, giggled at his attitude.

"How cute~" she teases and jumps down from the tree as she slowly approaches the magician. She flicks her fingers and made her unfinished food vanish.

"I'm getting impatient," she spoke as her hands touch Arundel's jaw. Her eyes once again glowed and a smirk complimented her, making the two intimidated.

"Get your hands off him," Rayll warned but she didn't listen. He was ready to fight her but Arundel signaled him to stop by showing his palm.

'No...' Rayll thought as he can't do anything but watch.

"Sell your soul, it's now or never." The woman ordered and Arundel sigh as he looks at his friend. Memories entered his head starting from how he met Rayll and how they become friends. Tears fell from his crimson and sapphire eyes and he drops his smile. A certain individual with sunset eyes invaded his thoughts, making him smirk.

'If only she didn't appear...'

He can't help but blame her for no legitimate reasons. It was intuition working.

Even though it was Knile who started everything, he didn't hate her. He didn't hate her because she was Rayll's younger sibling and he felt how Rayll cared for her. He understood why someone like her desired destruction. She was despised by everyone and she was left alone, causing her to take the wrong path for no one was teaching her where to go.

'A child left in the darkness to suffer alone..'

He then focuses on reality as he felt his eyesight fading. His soul was slowly leaving his vessel. Before he could completely disappear, he left a message for his friend who's eyes express grief.

"I'll be having fun in hell while waiting for you."

He joked.
