There were 5 things about him that she loved
His red eyes that only looks at her with love
"Sougo, what do you think about thi—" (Y/N) turned her head to face the sandy brown haired male and ask his opinion for the kimono she was picking out.
But when she looked at him, he was already staring at her. Love evident in his red eyes, she hadn't noticed it before but Okita looked so love struck whenever he was with her.
Okita looked so peaceful at that exact moment— red eyes softly gazing at her with that look of affection, lips slowly curling up into a small smile. Until he noticed she was staring at him, Okita blinked and cleared his throat.
"That looks ugly on you, definitely not your colour." Okita turned his head away with a huff, while (Y/N) just giggled.
"I always knew you were a sadist, but I didn't know you were a Tsundere too~" She laughed, turning to pick out another kimono. "Oh, wait. This looks good on you!!" (Y/N) gasped, smiling happily at him.
Then, Okita placed his hand at the top of her head. "Huh, Sougo. What are you doing?" She inquired, eyebrows scrunched together in confusion.
"I see something that's way better than that for me." He nonchalantly stated in his monotone voice as he looks down at her, meeting his red orbs with her (E/C) ones.
"Hm, where is it?" (Y/N) asked, looking around for clues as to what might have caught his eye.
"It's right here. The one standing in front of me." Okita stated, tapping her forehead with his index finger. "You're just perfect for me." He pecked her cheek and (Y/N) blushed.
"S-S-Sougo! We're in public!" She yells quietly as she raised her hands to cover her reddened cheeks.
His warm hugs that light a fire in her heart.
(Y/N) groaned frustratedly as she rolled around in her futon. She was down with a cold— the woman didn't listen to Okita when he said she shouldn't play in the rain and now she was paying for it.
"Sougoooooo~" She wailed loudly, turning her head to look at Okita who was working on some paperworks at his table. Okita turned his eyes to her for a short glance before returning to his work.
"Is that how you treat your sick girlfriend? I'm so disappointed in you, Sougo!" She then made a poor imitation of crying
"You're not fooling anyone, (Y/N)." Okita sighs softly as he ran his hand through his hair dully before continuing with his work. "Your fever has gone down, you're okay now."
"But I'm nooooooot~" She whined, and started rolling around again. ".....What do you want?" Okita sighed, he can never resist her, he then paused his work to stare at her with that monotone eyes of his.
"A hug."
"A hug?"
"Your hug."
"........."
"Please?"
"I'm working."
"Sougo, you don't love me." She pouted at him angrily and then faked a sniffle and covered herself in her blanket.
"....Stupid Sougo. All he does is work everyday and doesn't even pay any attention to me! Even when I'm sick like this....."(Y/N) mumbled lowly to herself, as she huffed lightly.
"Damn him and his daily schedule of 'wake up, kill Hijikata, eat, poop and sleep!' Even Toshi has way more time with him than me, when he's trying to kill him!" She angrily puffed her cheeks.
Suddenly, she felt someone lie down beside her, then strong arms wrapped around her figure. Lightly pulling the blanket down she sees Okita hugging her tightly, his eyes shut close.
"I thought you were working?" She smirked at him. "You're sick." He answered, "It's not just any illness, it's a dangerous illness" He then added.
"....What do you mean?" He made her nervous.
Okita only hugged her tighter, pulling her face to his chest and leaning his chin at the top of her head. "You're a love sick woman. There's only one cure for you, and that's me." Okita snickered and (Y/N) blushed deeply.
".....Your hugs really are warm, Sougo."
His strong arms, that always protect her.
"Sougo, are you done trying to kill Toshi yet? I'm feeling hungry." (Y/N) sighed boredly, as she kicked a few pebbles in her way. Okita had ran off in the middle of their patrols to try and kill off Hijikata when he saw Hijikata nearby.
"Just a little longer. He's holding hands with death now." Okita grinned devilishly, lifting his bazooka to his shoulders while (Y/N) sighed again and twirled a piece of her hair with her finger.
"Oh, miss. Look out!!" A man yelled to (Y/N). She looked back to see what seemed to be a robber running towards her.
"....What?" (Y/N) could only gasp in disbelief, not being able to move because of the confusion she felt.
But as the robber neared her, with a knife in his hands— (Y/N) could see an arm shoot out in front of her as if to protect her. It was Okita, who stood in front of her.
"S-Sougo?!"
Okita narrowed his eyes at the robber, waiting for him to get closer to them. In one swift motion, Okita swung his leg up and roundhouse kicked the robber in the face, knocking the robber unconscious.
Then, (Y/N) felt Okita pull her towards him. She found herself pressed against Okita's chest. "Don't space out when your life is in danger, idiot." He growled softly in a deep voice, still keeping a tight hold on her.
"S-Sorry....I just, I felt confused. M-My mind wasn't really processing...." She gulped thickly, as she looked up at Okita.
"Whenever you're with me, I will never fail to protect you. I'm confident enough in my skills that I will always be able to keep you safe with me." Okita says as he tipped his head down to lean on her shoulder.
His grip on her body suddenly tightened. "But what if I'm not there to save you?...." His voice suddenly went softer, lower and weaker.
(Y/N) softly smiled when she realized that he was worried for her— much more than she thought. Wrapping her arms around his body in a calm and gentle manner, she rubbed circles on his back.
"Don't worry." She spoke softly, "I won't leave you. Nothing will ever happen to me. Besides, I'll always be with you Sougo. So, don't worry anymore."
"Who said I was worried." Okita suddenly pushed her away and turned his back on her. "I was just giving a stupid woman some warnings." He crossed his arms and glanced at her over his shoulder.
"Now, come on. I've got to make it back in time to put something in Hijikata-san's mayonnaise." Okita snickered darkly as he slings his arm around her shoulder and pull her along.
"....sometimes...your Tsundere side is pretty surprising too, Sougo...."
His soft kisses that make her melt.
"Hijibaka-san— I mean, Hijikata-san." Okita cleared his throat, with his usual poker face. Hijikata noticed that the boy was purposely trying to piss him off.
"Have you seen (Y/N)?" Okita asked, leaning on the door frame of Hijikata's room. "(Y/N)? I gave her some files to sort out. She should be in her room sorting it out." Hijikata shrugs, as he lifted another cigarette to his lips.
"Wait— my mayonnaise lighter is missing." Hijikata exclaims, when he patted his pockets only to find it empty. "I found it outside, here."Okita casually threw Hijikata's mayonnaise lighter to him.
"Oh, thanks." Hijikata nodded while Okita made his way out. Hijikata pressed his thumb down and the lighter let out a huge fire that burned his whole face.
"SOUGOOOOOO!!"
"(Y/N)?...." Okita poked his head at her door, to find the woman holding papers in her hands while muttering incoherent words
"This?.....Where does it go again?" She hissed lightly, frowning at the paper. "That should go there." Okita pointed out to a stack of papers. "Oh, you're right! This one.....hm," (Y/N) went back into her thinking mode and Okita sighed.
"You have a lot of work, huh?" Okita nodded as he casually strolled inside. "Sougo.... I'm dying." She groaned softly, pausing to put the papers down and shoot him a small pout.
"Look at all these paperworks. Toshi— Toshi is so mean!" She whined again, and rubbed her forehead. "I'll help you." Okita shrugged as he took a seat beside her and started looking over the various papers messily laid out on the table.
"Sougo—" (Y/N) covered her mouth in shock whilst Okita had started filing the paperworks at a very fast speed. "You're so sweet. I love you!" She threw her arms around him and pecked his cheek.
"......." Okita didn't react or say anything, but nothing could ever hide the small tinge of red on his cheeks.
A few hours later and (Y/N) unexpectedly fell asleep. Okita had been used to doing a lot of paperworks before— Hijikata often pushed all paperworks to him as punishment whenever he failed to assassinate him— so he was used to staying up all night.
But (Y/N) wasn't. With the last of the papers in Okita's hands, he filed it into it's proper group and stared at (Y/N). Her head was slumped on the table, she was even emitting soft snores.
"Finally done," Okita stretched his arms and leaned down closer to see (Y/N)'s face. "You did good today, so sleep tight." He whispered softly to (Y/N) before he pressed his lips on her forehead, giving her a soft, warm kiss.
Okita stood up and went to grab a futon. But while he was out, (Y/N)'s eyes fluttered open.
"W-What?!" (Y/N) pressed her palm to her forehead where Okita had just kissed and blushed. "Being with him....I feel like my heart's gonna explode when he does cute things like that...." She sighed, and then she stretched her arms too, when Okita had come back with a futon in hand.
"(Y/N), let's sleep." Okita calls out after he set out their futons. "Thank you, Sougo." (Y/N) grinned widely at him as she carefully placed a quick kiss on his lips before she quickly turned her back on him.
"......." Okita's eyes widened at her action. She had never been the first one to initiate the kiss, usually it would always be him, because she was too shy or embarrassed to do so.
".....Stop being so cute, would you?" Okita whispered to himself as he covered his blush with the back of his hand.
"Goodnight, Sougo!"
".....Goodnight."
The last one? She loved Okita Sougo, himself.
(Y/N) was strolling through the hallways of the Shinsengumi Headquarters, it was her day off so she didn't really have anything to do. This was when she spotted Okita at the yard, holding his bazooka.
She trailed his aim to find Hijikata peacefully drinking tea at the porch. (Y/N) giggled to herself as she raised her arm up in the air.
"Sougooooo!" She yells, and sees Okita's eyes turn to her. "Catch me!!" She yells happily as she bent her knees and jumped high.
"No, (Y/N). I'm about to kill Hijikata—" Okita cut himself off as he let go of his bazooka and caught her in his arms.
"....I hate you." Okita scowled at her.
"You love me," She cheekily grinned, placing a soft kiss on his cheek.
"....You're right."
But most of all, Okita Sougo would do absolutely everything for his woman.
