They say that everyone in the world has their better half.
Mermaids have their so called 'Lucky One' which is their term for their lover.
But what happens if a mermaid's 'Lucky One' turns out to be a human?
"Where....am I?" Tilting her head slightly to the side, (Y/N) looked up to see a huge ship docked at the sea. "Well, I guess I can explore a bit~" (Y/N) giggled softly all to herself as she waved her tail around happily.
"Oh? What's a human doing here?" A voice happily comments and (Y/N) turned her head to meet Kamui and Takasugi. "A swim in the ocean this late at night?" Takasugi raised a brow uninterestedly at the woman.
'But the woman does have looks....' Takasugi thought while Kamui crouched down to get a closer look at the woman.
"Why are you swimming out here so late at night, woman?" Kamui asked, peering curiously at her. "Why do you care, you ugly long haired boy." She stuck her tongue out teasingly at Kamui making Kamui's vein pop out.
"Haha, I wanna kill you."
They thought she was human but she was not.
"Hey— You," (Y/N)'s eyes draw over to Takasugi. She suddenly felt her heart beat speeding up at the sight of him, and felt her cheeks getting hotter and hotter.
"What?" Takasugi narrowed his eye at her while she briskly turned away from him. "N-Nothing!" (Y/N) says as she tried to dive under the sea once more, lifting her (Favourite Color) Tail up for the boys to see.
But as her tail was lifted up, it suddenly started glowing. "W-Wha— What's happening?!" She shrieked when her tail glowed a bright light, Kamui and Takasugi squinted their eyes, not being able to believe what they were seeing.
"M-MY TAIL!!" (Y/N) gasped when the bright light disappeared along with her tail, in place— were human legs.
"W-Wha- BLUERGH." She started drowning.
As a mermaid who loved to swim and flaunt her tail around, she didn't know how to swim using legs. So now, (Y/N) was drowning.
Kamui and Takasugi were just watching.
".....Should we save her?" Takasugi sweat dropped, as they watched her flapping her arms around while wailing.
"....Maybe? Ah, but I don't really wanna go into the water." Kamui sighed as he crossed his arms over his chest.
"....Someone has to." Takasugi firmly stated, he wanted to destroy the world but he also wanted to save a woman he just met?
"....Someone will. But, not us. Haha, not after she insulted me." Kamui grinned, as he patted Takasugi's back.
"...No one comes here but us." Takasugi deadpanned.
"...Then, since you're so bent on saving her, why don't you jump in, Shinsuke?"
"....No, I don't want to get wet."
"See? Now, let's just pretend that we didn't see anything and walk inside, okay?"
"JUST SAVE ME, PLEASE!" (Y/N) yells as she continued splashing around in the water, waving her legs about but not really knowing how to use them.
"...Okay, so to decide who will save her and get wet. Let's play rock, paper, scissors." Takasugi nodded with a serious expression as he held a fist out to Kamui.
"Ehhh? Wouldn't playing UNO be more interesting?"
"We don't have time."
"...Fine," Kamui pouted and held a fist out.
"Rock, Paper, Scissor- Shoot!"
"Rock, Paper, Scissor- Shoot!"

"I win." Takasugi smirked after 5 times of getting a tie with Kamui, he finally emerged victorious. The two men were taking their sweet time while (Y/N) was dying behind them.
"Damn it, rematch?" Kamui suggested but Takasugi tilted his head towards (Y/N). "No. Go save her, loser."
"Tsk, I hate losing."

".....Where....." (Y/N)'s eyes slowly opened to meet the bright light shining down on her. "Oh, she's awake." Kamui noted once (Y/N) sat up on what seemed to be a bed.
"...What is this...contraption?" She gasped as she poked the bed with a very amazed look on her face. "It's so soft and.. fluffy. This is amazing!" She gasped happily and started bouncing on the bed.
"Oof!!" She tumbled backwards and hit her head on the headboard. "Ow...." She groaned and sat up again, her legs now in the air and visible in her sight.
"Why.....do I have legs?" She asked, turning to Takasugi and Kamui with a confused expression.
"The appropriate question for this situation is who and what are you?" Takasugi grumbled, lifting his smoking pipe to his lips.
"Me? I'm (Y/N), a mermaid." She pointed to herself and introduced herself so straightforwardly.
"You're lying. Mermaids don't exist. Tell us who sent you here." Kamui slammed his palm unto the edge of the bed making her tilt her head to the side again. "Mermaids do exist. I was— I mean until my tail suddenly disappeared and these... these legs appeared." She mumbled confusedly as she wiggled her legs around.
"....You, maybe...You should get dressed first." Takasugi blushed and look away. She only wore Takasugi's kimono which was wrapped around her figure pretty messily.
"Okay!" She chirped happily, and eagerly stood up only to fall down to the ground.
"What's wrong?" Takasugi asked her, she sheepishly grinned at him.
"H-How do I walk?"

It's been a week, since (Y/N)'s path has crossed with Takasugi's. She had a lot to learn, like a LOT. It was like she was a newborn baby. But surprisingly, Takasugi went through the pains of teaching her everything she needed to know.
Maybe it was because he pitied her.
Maybe it was because he saved her.
Or maybe, it was because he was starting to like her.
"Shinsuke!!" (Y/N) ran into the room where Takasugi was resting. Plopping right down beside him she looked at him with her big (E/C) eyes sparkling with excitement.
"..What happened now?" Takasugi asked her and she giggled. "Shinsuke, let's go to a love hotel!" She beamed, connecting her hands together hopefully in front of her face.
"What!?" Takasugi gasped a bit, taken aback by her bold invitation. "Ahem! W-Why would we go there?" He cleared his throat and tried to mask his embarrassment.
"Why?...." She pouted and tilted her head. "But, Kamui said that people spend time together in a love hotel to have fun. I wanted to have fun with you so, let's go!!" She says, smiling happily while Takasugi face palmed.
"....That's a different kind of fun. That's not appropriate for your age." Takasugi flicked her forehead. "My age? I'm older than you!" She pouted.
"Who cares? I'm saying you can't go there. From now on, don't believe whatever Kamui says." He reprimanded her and she nodded.
"... Okay." Then, (Y/N) quietly sat on the bed, but Takasugi heard soft sniffles coming from her.
She was crying.
But there was a weird sound that made Takasugi raise his eyebrow. There were small sounds of something falling to the floor and rolling down. Like pearls.
Plock!
There it was again, this time it rolled towards Takasugi. Takasugi bent down to grab the mysterious item only to see a shiny pearl in his hands.
"A pearl? Where did this come from?" Takasugi furrowed his eyebrows and turned to (Y/N). "Are you....crying?" He asked her and she turned to him. Her eyes and nose were both red, her lips quivering.
Takasugi watched as a tear slipped from her eyes and once it was free falling, it fell on the bed as a shiny pearl.
"Am I....hallucinating?" Takasugi placed a hand to his forehead and sighed. (Y/N) lowly shook her head and grabbed the pearl from Takasugi's hands. "When I cry, my tears turn into pearls. I don't know how or why, it just does." She stated.
"O-Oh, I see." Takasugi nodded, as he still felt sorry and confused as to why she was suddenly crying.
"....Don't you miss your family?" Takasugi suddenly asked, the silence in the room was killing him so he figured he needed to talk, plus he couldn't stand the sight of her crying. Whenever something involved (Y/N), Takasugi would unconsciously find himself becoming like a different person.
Takasugi would care about her, worry about her, or just always look out for her. He wasn't an idiot, he knew what it was. He was in love.
But the problem is- does she feel the same?
"Family? I don't have one." (Y/N) looked up at him, her (E/C) eyes looking at him innocently. "They all died, I don't really remember how but...I've always been along wandering from place to place." She smiled lowly.
"That's why I'm thankful you found me, Shinsuke." She cracked a huge smile at him that made his heart swoon.
'Ack,' Takasugi clutched his chest, feeling his heart beat like crazy. (Y/N) was such an angel.
"Well....Do you have any idea how your tail turned into legs?" Takasugi asked her and she shook her head again.
"Nope. Not a single clue, but if it means I get to stay with you, then I don't mind having these legs." She wiggled her toes happily.

"Ahahahahahah! Ahahahahah!! Stop it, stop it now!! Ahahahahaha!" (Y/N) continuously waved a hand at Abuto while her other hand held her stomach which was starting to hurt from how much she had been laughing.
"...Captain, why do I have to do this?" Abuto frowned, as he danced with that pinky frilly dress on his muscular body, his face caked with terrible make up skills, and to make matters worse he had his hair tied in pig tails.
"...Because we need money. And if I make her cry, I'd never hear the end of it from Shinsuke. So we can make her cry with tears of joy instead. Now dance, you slut." Kamui hummed happily as he casually collected the pearls that came from (Y/N).
"Thanks for the help, (Y/N)!" Kamui laughed, waving to her. "Y-Yeah, glad to help— PFFT, I CAN'T! AHAHAHAHAHA!!"
"This should last us for a month or two." Abuto nodded, looking at the sack of pearls. "Call me anytime you wanna make Abuto look ridiculous!" (Y/N) beamed as she walked away.
She was off to search for Takasugi again, but then- Matako showed up.
"Where do you think you're going, you bitch?" Matako growled at her, she had her pistols in hands while (Y/N) froze in her steps.
"What's a bitch?" She asked Matako curiously.
"It's what you are. Now, shut up and listen to me." Matako grits her teeth angrily. "Shinsuke-sama is mine. Don't think just cause he lets you run around and play in this ship that you're someone important to him!!" She yells.
"You're just lucky he picked you off from the sea. But he should've left you there instead of taking you in. Shinsuke-sama belongs to me, he will never love you."
"...Lucky One?...." (Y/N) gasped when she heard the word 'lucky' an old story came to her mind. "Shinsuke....will never love me? But—" (Y/N) felt hurt by Matako's words.
She had fallen in love with Takasugi.
"But...he's my Lucky One...." (Y/N) then ran away, not noticing the trail of pearls that she had been leaving behind.
"Tsk, damn bitch." Matako clicked her tongue and shrugged her pistols off to it's holder. "What did you say?" Takasugi's chilling voice made all the hairs on Matako's body stand up.
"S-Shinsuke-sama!" She gasped, finding Takasugi standing behind her. "Who were you referring to just now?" Takasugi glared at her.
"N-No. Shinsuke-sama, I was just trying to-"
"Move." Takasugi brushed past her when he saw the pearls on the ground. There could only be one explanation for that.
She was crying.
Following the trail of pearls, Takasugi followed (Y/N) and found her in hiding. Another pearl rolled down and stopped when it collided with Takasugi's foot.
".....Stop crying," He carefully stroked her head with his hand, now sitting beside her. "S-Shinsuke?...." She looked up, her eyes red and puffy.
"Why were you crying?" Takasugi asked her softly and she looked down and sniffled. "Shinsuke, I know why my tail disappeared and turned into these legs." She stated making Takasugi look at her curiously.
"There's this saying...." She started as she looked away. "That everyone in this world has a partner for life, a lover...another half. For us, it's called the Lucky One." She gulped thinly and wiped her tears away.
"...They say, that if a mermaid's Lucky One is a human, and then she meets that human God grants a wish and gives the mermaid legs so that she will be with her Lucky One." She then paused and looked at Takasugi.
"Shinsuke, I think you're my Lucky One. My tail disappeared the moment I met you, it explains everything." She says, leaning closer to him.
"S-So?....Why are you crying, isn't that a good thing?" Takasugi asked, with a small blush now appearing on his cheeks. He still couldn't get used to her straight forward and bold confessions.
"I love you, Shinsuke. Not just because you're my Lucky One. But....you'll never love me." She looked down, her lips breaking into a frown.
"Who says so?" Takasugi clicked his tongue, grabbing her chin to make her face him. "I am in love with you as well, everything about you, all that you are and everything that you will be." He smirked and leaned closer to her.
Their lips connected in a sweet kiss.
"Because I know that you're my Lucky One too."
What happens if a mermaid's Lucky One is a human?
God grants legs to the mermaid, because he has destined those two together.
So he will make a way for them to be with each other, even if they're from different kinds.
