it's not "love of money" to handle well what you have, investing and providing for your future. It's not even buying some things for fun. All these are perfectly valid uses of money. God wants you to protect and enjoy your success.
But he wants you to keep money in perspective. Money is good, but other things are better. Wouldn't you give everything you have to pay the bill if your sister or brother needed a lifesaving operation? If a disaster made you abandon your apartment, would you save your checkbook or your roommate?
There are pretty extreme examples, but you get the point. An excessive love of money can put your soul in danger. It can shatter marriages, turn family members against one another, and turn you into someone you'd never choose for a friend. Thank about it the next time you deposit your paycheck.
Lord, I know You will provide for me. Keep me from the love of money. I want to be someone of whom You can be proud.
