"Can I take the blindfold off now?", you asked, fingers tapping on your lap.
"Not yet", Hoseok laughed.
You've been on the road now for at least 20 minutes. He had a surprise for you. You couldn't wait any longer.
After a half hour later of whining and complaining, Hoseok lead you while you kept giggling. A weird odor crawled up your nose which caused you to become more curious.
"Now?", you asked.
"Almost", he said.
About a minute later, Hoseok stopped you and took off the blindfold. Your eyes widened as you examine your surroundings. He took you to a spot in the forest near the lake. There was a beautiful waterfall that you can stare at for hours.
"What are we doing here?", you asked.
"I know you've been stressed and quite upset. I found this place not too long ago so I thought of bringing you here to help you relax", he said.
He grabbed your hand and led you close to the waterfall. You hardly knew how to swim so you got a bit nervous.
"It's okay. We're going behind the waterfall..or inside..it's hard to explain but just follow me", he smiled.
There was a small spot that the water didn't drip down so you followed Hoseok into it. You were stunned to find blankets on the ground and plastic candles lit everywhere.
"Hobi-"
"It's not what you think. It's just a picnic. I didn't know how else to cheer you up. It's been weeks since I've had a regular conversation with you", he said.
"He never did anything like this", you mumbled.
"I brought you here so you can relax. Talking about him won't make you feel any better", he said.
He sat down on the blanket, patting the spot next to him. You sat down and was met by delicious food that he took out of the picnic basket. Your mouth began to water.
The water falling in front of you and the candles created a romantic atmosphere. Hoseok kept offering you food which you gladly took since you were starving.
"You know, the past few months he's been seeing someone. He wasn't cheating on me. I mean, he was spending time with her and having fun", you said.
"(Y/n)-"
"You told me we haven't had a conversation in weeks. I wanna talk about it with you. Because I have no one else that will listen to me", you said.
He sighed and nodded, taking your hand in his.
"Do you think breaking up with him was a good idea?", you asked.
"Let me asl you something first. Were you happy?", he asked.
"I don't know. At first, we would spend every minute together. Then he kept saying he had to stay at work. The thought him cheating kept occurring in my head. I falsely accused him of cheating", you said.
"You kept worrying every second. Relationships like that are not healthy. You'll get better soon though. I'm here to help you", he smiled.
After talking with him for a while, he decided it was a good idea to go for a swim.
"But..I don't have anything to wear", you said.
"Don't worry. I know you you don't like wearing those types of bikinis so I brought extra shorts and a shirt for you. I won't let you drown. What if I teach you how to swim?", he asked.
"But in a lake?", you said.
"I can say the lake is cleaner than the pool at your apartment", he said.
"That's true. Alright..I trust you so..", you said.
Hoseok went back to the car to get the clothes. He turned away and closed his eyes so you can change comfortably.
He jumped in instantly, yelling that it's cold. You looked over and felt as if you were gonna fall so you held onto a tree.
"I change my mind. I can't do it", you said, closing your eyes as your grip tightened around the tree.
Hoseok got out and headed towards you.
"It's fine. You don't have to. But it's getting a little hot so I'm gonna head back in", he smiled before jumping in the water.
You sat down on the ground and watched him swim around. You began to feel the heat burning on your back. The water did look fresh.
You stood up and looked around to find a shallow spot. When you did, you carefully took steps into the water. You went in until the water stopped near your chest.
"Hobi, I need help", you called out.
"Change your mind huh?", he chuckled and helped you swim.
He wanted to let go but you still didn't have 100% confidence so you held onto him tightly.
"How are you gonna learn to swim if you're like this?", he chuckled.
"I'm just scared", you admitted.
"Untangle your legs from me. I'm gonna keep a hold of your hands. But you have to kick so you can stay above water, okay? Nothing is gonna happen to you. I promise you'll be fine", he said.
You nodded and untangled your legs from him. He began to swim back while holding your hands. You moved your legs and kicked, staying above water. He noticed after about a few minutes you were getting tired so he carried you.
"You did great", he smiled.
"Really? I wasn't even swimming for that long", you said.
"That's okay. You did great either way. With more practice you'll get better", he said.
You waited near the shallow part of the lake as Hoseok went to eat the towels. He wrapped one around you before wrapping himself.
"Thanks Hobi. You really did cheer me up", you said.
"I just don't want to see you upset over some guy that isn't meant for you", he said.
You two sat on the trunk of his car while your clothes dried. You looked up at the stars and smiled. Hoseok on the other hand was looking at you, admiring the sparkle in your eyes.
"You think my mom is watching over me?", you asked him.
"Of course. You see that star that's really bright?", he asked, pointing above you.
"Yeah?", you said.
"That's her, looking down at you, protecting you. She's your guardian angel. She will be there even when you think you're alone", he said.
You smiled softly while looking at the star. It was so shiny. After a while of thinking, you glanced at Hoseok only to find him already looking at you.
"What?", you asked.
"..nothing", he shook his head.
You were starting to get cold so you looped your arm with his and leaned your head on his shoulder.
"Thank you for being my friend", you said.
"I'm glad to be your friend."
