Natsu's POV~
I stare at the ceiling, thinking about how I felt earlier. She just looked so.. Beautiful. Like a goddess, or an angel. I've never seen such a raw emotion like that. So sad, so devastated, and broken.. I hear creaking on the roof, like someone is on it. I get out of bed quickly, slipping on my shoes. I walk down the hall, down the stairs and out the door. I see Veronica staring at the moon and the stars. "Hey.." I say waving my hand slightly. "Hello" Veronica says her eyes unmoving from the night sky. I look around and walk over a loose piece of brick. I wanted to check on you..." I say looking away, rubbing the back of my head. "I don't need your pity..." I hear Veronica mumble. "It's not pity!" I argue. "Sure.." Veronica says sarcastically while rolling her eyes. "Anyway... Who way that song abo-" before I can finish Veronica glares at me, "Never mind!" I say quickly. But I can see it in her eyes. When she was singing they were full of life but something I can't place. And now her eyes are dull and cold. Something is wrong with her.. "I- I don't want to talk about it. The only person who knows is Ember." Veronica says, her eyes returning life. The moon was beaming down on her, shining into her eyes. She had a longing look to her eyes, like she wanted to be somewhere far. "Why are you staring at me?" Veronica asks in a monotone voice that seems so familiar. "S- Sorry!" I stutter out for some reason. She just reminds me so much of Luce... "Are you ok Salamander?" Veronica asks in a surprisingly sympathetic tone. "Y- Yeah.. Why don't you just call me by my actual name?" I ask quickly trying to change the subject. "Because... I don't feel like it!" Veronica says nervously. "Are you, perhaps, scared of my name?" I ask raising an eyebrow. To my surprise she bursted out laughing. It was muffled a little by her mask but was still full. Like a bell, ringing on forever, again it had a familiar tune.. "Why would I be afraid of your name, Natsu?" Veronica says but mumbles the last part, I could barely hear it. "See not too hard now, is it?" I ask teasingly. "Natsu?" Veronica asks, "What is Fairy Tail like?" Veronica asks. "It's amazing! Though not as good as it was as it was when she was there.." I say excited at first but then sad, "Who is she?" I hear Veronica ask. I breath a slow breath before exhaling. "She was my partner, my best friend, but because of an idiotic mistake on my part she died. Her name was Lucy Heartfillia. I- I ignored her for months after an old friend came back. I didn't think much of it, heck I couldn't even tell that 6 months went by. I kicked her out of my team, indirectly calling her weak. And because of that she went on a very difficult job, when I realized how much I messed up, me and my team went to look for her. When we got there... It was to late. She was dead. I held her dead, lifeless, blood soaked body in my arms." I explain, tears running down my face,
"E- Every year when that time comes around, I leave. I go on a powerful job, all by myself, and complete it. In memory of her. She was the strongest person I knew. Lucy- Lucy died with a broken heart, soul, smile and life. All because, I was idiot.." I say now sobbing, "After that day, I had nightmares, I was angry with everything and everyone. But I was mostly angry at myself. I- I killed the girl I loved.." I finally admit. After a moment of silence I look over to Veronica. My eyes widen when I see tears running down her face. I saw guilt and pain in her eyes now, no longing, no happiness, and definitely no family. "Natsu, I am so sorry you had to live with that guilt." Veronica says in a caring way, not cold like her old demeanor at all.
"You- You remind me of her.." I finally says sadly. "Though, she used her magic!" I say trying to lighten the moment. "I use magic!" Veronica argues. "Oh really?" I say, not believing her. "Show me." I simply say teasingly. "Fine!" She says as her eyes had a blue glint again. Slowly she lifts her hand and somehow my body moves on its own.
"W- What?!" I say starting to freak out. Slowly I walk to the edge and jump. I close my eyes waiting for the impact, but I don't fall, I float. I open my eyes to see Veronica standing there, her arm out controlling me. Slowly and carefully I return to the roof. "How?" I ask sitting back down next to her. "Easy, I controlled the water in your body." Veronica says, I can practically hear her smirk. "Oh? So your a Water mage?" I say easily. "Nope!" Veronica says before jumping off the building. "Might want to get back inside soon!" Veronica says before leaving me all alone. I lie down on the roof, trying to think of her magic. Has to do with water... Hmmm.... Nah. Oh well. I get up and jump down before going back inside and to my room. It was nice to talk out my feelings.
From that night on me and Veronica got closer and closer. We talked and spent every night together. This went on for a month, a month without giving Fairy Tail a word from me.
