Everyday for the past two years has been almost exactly alike. Clary would get up, shower, put up her red hair in a bun, get dressed, eat breakfast, and then train all day with Johnathon. After training she would shower again, eat dinner, then go into her room. By the time Clary was back in her room it was 7. She would usually just sit there and draw all night until 11, which was lights out.

Sometimes without her realizing it she drew runes, but she kept it a secret. Why tell something when there was no meaning to it? Today she had a day off. Jonathan and Valentine had a errand to run. She didn't ask why, she never did. Clary observed that every month at one point she could full on lie to them. Then Valentine did special training with her and then she told them almost everything she did. Almost.

She was downstairs in the kitchen. It had a glass and steel table with food spread out on it. Clary decided she would just make herself a small lunch then smiled. No one else was home. She was very hungry. When you put two and two together you got a feast. So on the table she had a plate of chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, a salad, and a bottle of water. To top it off she grabbed a piece of cake. Occasionally, she could have things high in sugar, but not usually. All part of training Johnathon told her. In her head it went through as Blah Blah Blah. When she tried to eat a cookie, the next day, it was swacked out of her hand. Then she was lectured. So she took full advantage of the opportunity. She closed the fridge door and went to the cabinet to grab a plate as she grabbed the handle she jerked back. As soon as she touched the handle her vision went black except for a rune she guessed. It was simple, and she knew what it did. It was a rune for memory. But why did she need a rune for memory? Eager to draw the rune before it left her mind she put all the food back except the cake. Cake was an exception.

She ran down the corridor and opened her bedroom door and flung herself into her desk chair. She grabbed her pencils and set herself to drawing the rune. As she looked at the rune Clary admired her work. She never really had a mark none actually one little one wouldn't hurt right? She grinned to herself pleased to be doing something that she wanted to do. Clary was nevered allowed to use a stele, only things during training. But she knew where extras were kept. She ran out of her room across the kitchen and up the crystal clear glass steps. She went into Valentines bedroom and went to the wardrobe. She ran her hand down the side and tapped the button. The wardrobe slid away reavling stone steps into the weapons room. She ran up the stairs and searched for a stele. It took no time at all and she ran back downstairs and put the wardrobe back in place. She ran down the hallway and froze. There was rustling in the living room. Then the sound of footsteps came near the stairs. She stumbled back and flung herself into the spare room. She closed the door and hid in the bathroom. She heard the door creak open then close again. She let out a sigh and looked at the stele. The rune still fresh in her mind. She put the stele to her ankle and felt the burn on her skin. It was a little painful at first then dulled.

Suddenly she felt a rush of memories fall on her. A scruffy young man and a women with flaming hair. The women looked like Clary, then with a jolt she realized it was her mother. The man his name was Luke. Then she saw a thin boy with brown hair and nerdy glasses. It was Simon. She smiled and looked into the mirror. She saw tears running down her face. The face that looked so much like her mothers. Her happiness turned to anger. Why was she here? Why did she have memories of Johnathon. Sweet Johnathon. He helped her and was patient when she messed up in training. Then she saw a dark street and a cold amused voice saying "No one calls me cleché." She knew that cold voice. Johnathon. Those memories. Were they hers? They couldn't be. She needed to get out of there.

She slipped her sock up to cover the rune and slid her stele into it. She walked to the door and opened it up a crack to see if anyone was by the door. She didn't see anyone so she slipped through the crack and started toward the stairs. Before she reached it someone was in front of her.

Johnathon.

He leaned forward and whispered in her ear, "What are you doing up here?"

Usually she would feel something like fish hooks drawing the truth out. Now she didn't, "I was looking through the books in the spare room. Sometimes I get bored you know." He studied her face thoughtfully then shrugged. He leaned away from her and moved to the side.

As she moved past him he grabbed her arm, "You know that I can read you like a book right?"

She just nodded her head not trusting herself to speak. He loosened his grip on her arm and she pulled it free running downstairs. She went into her room and hid the memory rune in  her shoe. Before she could take out the stele, there was a knock at the door. She walked over and unlocked the door and opened it. Valentine stood in the doorway in gear, she presumed.

"Clarissa, I hope you know that I am sorry that it came to this." His voice held no apologetic tone. He took his hand from behind his back and Clary fell unconscious.

The next thing Clary was aware of was the smell of grass and crisp clean air. She sat up and became aware of her surroundings. The sky was a midnight blue and cloudless. Stars shone, and the moon lit the earth giving the night a mysterious look to it. She was in the middle of a wide open field with the sound of running water distant. Where am I? she thought. She got up and looked down at the ground. Lying Less than 3 meters away a bag laid. She opened it up and saw an extra set of clothing, a hair brush, a tooth brush and toothpaste, a set of sneakers, water, and a package of dried fruit and meat. She swung the bag over her shoulder bumping oddly between her shoulder blades. She walked towards the sound of running water and found a small stream. She remembered from a science class that all water runs downhill, so there had to be some high ground somewhere around here. She followed the stream by which she hoped was up stream and saw a forest in the distance. Bingo she thought. There was something in her shoe. As she walked towards the forest she ignored it, then it became annoying. She gave in and set herself upon a rock and took her shoe off. Almost immeadiatley something fell on the ground. Two objects. Some stick or something and a piece of paper. She uncrumpled the paper. All that was drawn on it was a weird symbol. She tilted her head as if trying to figure the symbol out. In frustration she crumpled it back up and threw it on the ground. She picked up the stick. It had a pale green color to it but twisted in a way that it resembled a tree branch. But unlike a tree branch it was cool to the touch.

She slid it into her back pocket and snatched the paper from the ground and shoved it into her bag. She took a sip of water before she set off again. She was close enough to pick out some details of the forest. Trimmed branches, plucked bushes, also a bird feeder gave off a sense of human interaction. She kept walking through the forest and after 6 minutes of walking she hit the end of the tree line. An old looking log cabin was now in her view.

She knew that when it came to log cabins at night someone usually would die. She stayed just behind the treeline and walked from the back of the house to the front, hidden from view. She walked as quietly as she could. Someone could be outside and hopefully didn't notice her tripping over a big tree root. She got up rubbing her shins cursing under her breath. She stifled a gasp as she heard a loud feminine voice.

"Jace! I thought this is where the disturbance was?!"

"It is! At least where Hodge said it was!" The voices seemed spread apart Clary dove behind a tree as she saw, unmistakably, a girl. She had a tall, slim figure with long black hair. She held a glowing object in one hand and a whip in the other. She heard another voice in the distance, different from the voices she'd already heard.

"Its 14 Frantz Avenue, Isabelle! The directions weren't wrong!"

She saw the girl -Isabelle- throw up her arms and complain "Alright! Still! Since when is there plain open fields in New York?!"

She heard another voice, one she heard. The voice was aragant and amused. It was closer then before, much closer. "Guys come over here. There's been activity here." Clary widened her eyes as she looked down the path she walked on. The boy was closer then the others. He was maybe 5 yards away and standing where Clary had tripped. He had golden hair and was wearing black leather like clothing. He held a sword that seemed to give off light and a ball of light in his other hand. She pushed her back into the tree, her heart pounding.

She edged her way so she could see them and bent down. Isabelle joined him and she could hear footsteps coming toward them. She was suppressing the urge to cry out for help. This was when someone died and it was probably going to be her. Horror movies may be cheesy but they are accurate. She could see them all together. Only 3 of them. The one who just arrived had the same jet black hair as Isabelle and the same slim structure. Even through the darkness and distance she could see his blue eyes.

"Looks like a bunch of rustled leaves." Isabelle said annoyed.

"Iz, there an impact on the ground and the leaves don't normally indent the ground now do they?"

"Shut up, Alec! I don't pay attention in Botany."

"Who does?" The gold haired boy wondered aloud.

"I do." The other boy said quietly.

"Yes, Alec, but that's because we need someone to know what stuff is poisonous or not. Isabelle even you should notice the disarrange I. the leave pattern. Someone tripped or fell here recently. I presume the its what caused the disturbance."

Alec, the dark haired boy, nodded and Isabelle glared at them both.

"Jace I hate it when your right." Isabelle said grudgingly.

"So about 90% of the time I say something?" Jace smirked as Isabelle just stalked off in the direction Clary came. She watched in disbelief as the followed her away from Clary. She couldn't hold back a sigh of relief. Almost immeadiatley Jace was upon her.He had a loom of surprise amd something almost predatory about his expression. He lips curled into a wicked smile.

"Well" He said, "Look at what we got here."
