A/N-

Who shot Cole? All will be revealed in this emotional chapter!

Chapter 60

Unknown POV

I jerked away as I was pushed into the back of the squad car. I smirked knowing that there was noway in hell that I was going down without a fight. Sure I shot some kid. But they could never prove that I had. Just as long as that nasty bitch kept her mouth shut.

The lights flicked on and and the sirens blared as the vehicle took off toward the police station.

I still had my one phone call. They couldn't deny me that. I knew who I would call.

Kandee's POV

I was floating above my body watching as the paddles were brought down on my chest for a third time. My lifeless body convulsed my heart still failing. The doctors had put a tube down my throat that was forcing air into my lungs. But I couldn't feel it.

They approached Matt's huddled figure.

“Son, I sorry there is nothing else we can do.” They said grimly.

“No! You can not give up! Just one last time. Please?” Matt begged.

“Fine but her chances of survival are slim.” They said before pulling the cart back into the room.

They prepped the paddles before yelling clear. They pressed the paddles to my bare chest one last time. The line on the monitor went flat before picking up a semi-normal rhythm. I was propelled back into my hollow body once again.

Unknown POV

I reached the cold jail phone. Slowly, I dialed the familiar digits. Then waited for an answer.

“Hello?” Matthew said sounding drained.

“Hello son.” I said calmly.

What sounded like a growl rippled through the receiver to my ear.

“What do you want?” He hissed.

Matthew had never forgiven me for his broken childhood. But could he blame me? He had been a rude nuisance of a child.

“I'm down at the station again. I need you to get me my lawyer.” I said bored.

“What did you do this time?” He sighed.

“I shot some kid.” I stated as though it were nothing.

I heard his phone hit the floor then all I got was static.

Matt's POV

No. No, no, no. This was not happening. Not again. My father had shot and possibly killed Cole. Also nearly taking Kandee's life in the process.

I let the phone fall from my hand and drop to the cold tile floor. It shattered against the hard surface of the floor. I sank to the floor, holding my head in my hands.

“Matt? Whats wrong?” Joni asked crouching down next to me.

“It was my dad that shot Cole.” I whispered, not bothering to lift my head from my hands.

“Oh no.” She whispered, wrapping her arms around me.

Cole's POV

Lights flashed in my eyes as I swam toward consciousness. My eyes rolled around in their sockets as I tried to force them to focus. People surrounded me. But some one was missing. Some one important.

“Ka.....Kan......Ka...Kandee.” I whispered trying to make my voice work.

Every one of their faces showed pity and sympathy.

“Shh. You're okay Cole.” Angel whispered, pressing the back over her hand to my forehead.

“Where, where is she?” I asked my voice still weak and shaky.

Tears rolled from her eyes. And her smile faded into a thin line. She looked so sorry. It was scary me. Something was wrong. Very wrong.

“Angel? Where's Kandee?” I asked scared to know the answer.

“Oh, Cole. I'm so sorry. I'm so so sorry.” She whimpered.

(Still Cole's POV)

I sat in the hard chair holding her hand. It was the first time that they had let me out of my room in over a week. This was the first time I had been able to see her. She looked so weak. Her once pink cheeks were now a translucent ashy color. Her long chocolate locks were tangled around her lifeless face. She was an angel sent straight from heaven. Yet she had been through hell. She had never had it easy. Always fighting for her life but never quite winning. A lost cause to some, a driving force to me. To some she was broken and would never be repaired. To me it was a challenge of whether or not I could re-assemble her broken heart and her crushed will to live.

Aladdin stirred from his bed in the corner of the room. He limped toward me, his back leg never touching the ground. I scooped him up and stood up weakly. I shuffled over to Angels sleeping form. Nudging her gently I set Aladdin in her arms.

“Can you take him to the vet? Please?” I asked softly.

She nodded and stood up, cradling Aladdin. She walked toward the door before turning toward me.

“No funny business while I'm gone. Got it?” She said sternly.

I just nodded and returned to my seat next to Kandee. Angel left with Aladdin leaving Kandee and me all alone.

I pressed my lips to her forehead wishing she would open her beautiful blue eyes.
