Ch. 19: Trust*start*

*Violet's POV*

"Wha...but...Edward and everyone are worried sick. Edward feels horrible and..."

"He should, Bella. You weren't there to hear everything for yourself. I can't go back." I told her.

"But he feels awful! He was just mad; you have to forgive him. He's miserable! We have to tell him!" she was hysterical. I could see a few people staring at us so I hushed her.

"Shh Bella...I'm actually happy now. Please don't ruin this for me." I begged her. She must have seen how desperate I felt and how much I meant my words. "Look...how about I call you some other time and we see how things go. Let me show you that we're all better off this way."

"I...I don't know. Edward will find out and...."

"He won't, I promise I'll take full blame and..."

"Violet?!" We turned and saw Embry.

"Embry?! You're with Embry?! No, you're with the wolves?!" she asked me. "They'll kill you!"

"Shhh! No, I'm not and no they won't. Just...trust me, Bella. Remember what I told you? Carpe Diem. Just trust me, please." I said as I saw Embry step his way closer.

"That's what got you in this mess in the first place!" she hissed out.

"Bella! Please...just...I finally found someone that makes me feel human...normal and happy." I told her. She was thinking about it, but I could see Embry make his way over here and I had to hurry. "Please. Just give me time and stall. If...if it will make you happy, I'll......I'll talk to him, eventually." I told her. "But please hurry. Embry can't see you with me without needing an excuse, Bella." I told her.

"F-Fine." I smiled grateful that she would help keep yet another secret of mine. "But..." damn it! Why is there always a down point to everything? "You can't wait to tell Edward too long...and I want you to come to my graduation party."

"Bella...I can't..." She had a hard look on her face I sighed as I could see Embry's tall frame make his way over to us. "Fine! I'll call, you go." I told her and we swerved our carts in different directions. "Hey Embry? Ready to go?"

"Huh? What? Oh...yeah, sure." I could see he was uneasy as he looked like he was sniffing out a scent. I was glad when he just blew it off. We walked over to pay for the things and headed out the store.

"Thanks for the ride, again, Embry." I told him.

"No problem. You're Jake's im-girl. You're family now." He said smiling. I smiled softly and nodded.

"So, hungry?" I asked when I noticed he didn't leave.

"Actually, yeah. Jake and Billy say you're a great cook. I figured I'd find out for myself." I smiled and nodded.

"That's very nice of them, but sure I'll get right on something. I was actually going to bake a cake, too. So, if you want you can hang out with the others while I bake it. I'll send some over with Jake later..."

"No, it's ok. I'll just...watch TV." He looked kind of worried and I was confused as to why.

"O-kay." I said slowly. He chuckled.

"It's just...Jake would probably eat it before he even got to my place."

"Oh!" It just hit me. I giggled. "Maybe you're right." The rest of that time I spent cooking as Embry watched television and occasionally came into the kitchen to see how things were going. After some time, my meal was done. "Ready!" I called to him. He practically flew here the second the oven door was open.

"Mmm smells delicious. Jake's not gonna go starving with you around." I smiled and blushed, grateful.

"Thanks. Let me just put on the frosting and...done." I told him to which he nodded eagerly. There was a small half of the cake that needed some frosting left, but I noticed it was running out fast. "Ok...what's going on, Embry?" I asked when I noticed the frosting on the side of his lip.

"What? I didn't do nothin'."

"Mhm, then why is there chocolate on your face?" he looked confused and touched the chocolate goop.

"Ohhh...my bad." He said chuckling. "I'll take part of the cake with no frosting then." I rolled my eyes but did give him what he wanted.

"Hey guys! Mmm. Smells good." I turned and saw Jake. I looked to the clock it read 5:15.

"Jake! Aw...I haven't gotten ready, yet." I whined he chuckled and wiped some of the chocolate off the cake.

"Don't worry about it. I'll wait. You go get ready and I'll talk to Embry here." he said patting him on the back. I nodded. I ran up the stairs and then right back down. I noticed Jake already cutting himself out a large portion of the cake. I had baked two, but still.

"Don't think about it mister. Leave some for your dad, Sue, Emily and Old Quil." I told him. He made a puppy dog face. "Nope, not going to work." I said chuckling as I walked into my room. I got my clothes that I had already picked and ran into the bathroom.

*Jake's POV*

I made sure that the water was on before I turned to Embry. I just looked at him like he was stupid. He was stuffing his face with cake and he had the frosting all over his face. I sighed and he looked up muttering 'what' as crumbs fell out of his mouth. "So was she a hand full?"

"Not really. Hey you talked to Bella lately?" why would he ask that?

"No, not really..." I told him thinking about it. "Why?" I asked.

"Nothing I just thought I caught her scent at the store, is all." I nodded. "Well, I'll be going now since you got a hot date. And might I add, that she's smoking..." he saw the glare I was sending him. "Just messin' Jake, chill dude."

"Whatever. Go, I gotta get ready, too." I told him.

"That's how you treat me after I kept watch over her? Some repayment. I think I'll tell Violet how mean you are to me. Don't think she'll like to hear that." I growled and he just laughs. "I'm going, I'm going!" He said, raising his hands up in defense as he made his way towards the door. "Oh, before I forget. What happened with you and Sam?" I sighed.

"Nothing. We searched through the lands and even went a little further out but we couldn't find a thing. Sam and I came across the mood ring and the small one at the border. She said she as just looking for something, but wouldn't tell us what." I told him.

"That's weird." I nodded agreeing with him. "Well, got to go" I said bye as he closed the door.

I went to my room to get ready. I picked out some of my newer, cleaner shoes and put them aside. Next I got a dark red shirt with a Red Jumpsuit Apparatus logo on it. I figured to dress casual, since we were just going to the movies. I then looked through my drawer for some jeans that weren't ripped up. I couldn't wear shorts without people giving me strange looks even if was summer. I found some long khaki shorts in good condition and picked them up and went to get my shoes. I then went into my dad's room since he had another bathroom in there. I took a quick shower and changed.

When I was out, I noticed the water had stopped which meant she was probably still getting ready, most likely. 'Why do girls always take forever?' I asked myself. I went back to my room to get my cell phone and then looked for my keys. 'Shit! Where did Embry put them?!' I asked myself. I went downstairs to check when I stopped where I was. "Wow..." I breathed out. In front of me stood the most beautiful person I'd ever seen

"Too much?" she asked. I shook my head 'no.' Violet stood in front of me with a red and white jacket with a white blouse under. She wore a red skirt that had white trim around the pockets and the bottom and was wearing white sneakers. She wore no make-up, just a bit of lip gloss with her hair down in bouncy curls. As I looked at her lips, I couldn't help but lick mine, feeling them extremely dry. "Well, let's go." That snapped me out of it.

"I can't find the keys." I told her while I rubbed the back of my neck. She lifted her hand up, giggling as the keys dangled from them.

"Embry gave them to me to give to you when we came from the store" She told me as she latched onto my arm. "Now come on. Your dad's going to come and I'm sure we'll want to get back before that if you want any more cake." She told me trying to pull me out the door. I grinned at her attempt and made it look like she was actually able to pull me. I walked out the door and closed it as we went over to the car. I opened her door and she slid in careful with her skirt, fixing it as she went. I couldn't help but gaze at her arms as she smoothed it out. She always wore jeans unless she went to the beach. She told me about how she doesn't like exposing her body, so I wonder what brought this on. In the car ride I could see her fidgeting with the skirt and I laughed a little. I could tell she wasn't comfortable.

"If you didn't like the skirt then why did you buy it?" I asked her. She frowned as she looked at the material.

"I didn't. Remember when we went to Emily's and we were talking with Kim?" She asked, I nodded keeping my gaze on the road. "Well, they knew about the date and Kim...let me borrow this. She said you'd like it...you did, so I left it on..." Her head was turned out the window.

"I would have liked you even if you were wearing sweats and a hoodie." I told her as I moved her chin to look at me. "Yeah, it looks nice, but so did what I thought was comfortable." 'Or as comfortable as it was going to get without looking like a total freak' I thought as I felt even hotter with the extra clothing on.

*Third Person's POV*

"Really? Well, I wanted to look extras nice. This is kind of my first date?" In a way this was her first ever date. The hybrid had never exactly gone on a date with a werewolf, scratch that with anyone she really liked back. Her sisters had tried countless times to try and get her to go out with other immortals such as them or even a human, but none ever caught her attention. She never tried going out with humans, why bother? They would have only died sooner or later and she could not turn them like any of the others would have been able too.

"Your first date? Really? Wow...I would have thought you were the popular type at your school." Said the Quileute native. In truth he was shocked. He would have thought that since she was so breath-takingly gorgeous, she would have at least been asked many times. "I figured you would have had your own stalker or something by how pretty you look." he told her.

"I've been asked, but...no one's ever...real I guess." answered Violet.

"What do you mean by real?" asked Jacob nervous considering he wasn't even supposed to be real. None of this should be.

"You know, down to Earth. Everyone's hiding something or another, I guess. Even now I bet me and you are hiding stuff. It's not always a bad thing, but sometimes people try to be something they're not...something they can never be." She said thinking about herself. She was having regrets about being with Jacob. Her confrontation with Bella made her think that what she was doing was wrong. She was lying to him, to them all. She herself was doing what she just said she could not stand. She was being unreal, fake, a phony, a liar.

Jacob, hearing her words, couldn't help but feel extremely guilty. He was hiding so many secrets from her. Secrets that could put her life in danger if she knew, but she had to know them. He wanted to be that someone for her. That someone to prove to her that he was real. That he, too, was special, just like her. She was special, he knew it; she was his imprint and that made it enough for him. "So...am I real enough for you?" he asked.

"Yeah...you are. You're sweet, caring, funny and...and...I don't know!" she shouted throwing her hands in the air. They both chuckled at her outburst. "It's just... This is going to sound corny, but...I'm just drawn to you. Like I need you the way I need b-breathe, I mean to breathe." She said correcting herself. She was going to use blood as a metaphorical term, but she caught herself before she did. She turned to see his reaction and he just stood there smiling like an idiot. She blushed thinking that he probably did think what she said was too mushy.

"I feel the same way...stronger even." He told her. She was shocked.

"y-you d-do?" She asked him. He nodded. They both smiled at each other and just looked onward towards the road smiling, content with one another's presence. Neither of them aware that they were desperately clasping one another's hand as a sign of wanting and longing to be together. They both needed this more than they knew.

Once they were at Port Angles, they made their way towards the ticket booth to look over the movies together, still holding one another's hand with entwined fingers. She honestly hadn't really ever gone to one of these things either, plays maybe, even drive ins, but that's about as far as it got. Her family preferred the outdoors than being cramped in a tight space with a bunch of humans. She did not feel the need to feed like they did.

She had fed before she thought of this plan and was good for a month or so. She had just lasted about two weeks already with the Black's so she was good for another 4 weeks at best, but was she really going to push it with a bunch of confined people that she did not even have any special ties to? She had tremendous self-control, just that she wasn't sure she could concentrate enough on not having humans for dinner when here was this tremendous boy by her side robbing her of whatever attention span she had left.

If it was not for her being partial human, she would have sucked all these humans dry, most likely. She had never had the taste of blood, but still the scent had this amazing taste to it all on its own. She could only imagine what it would actually taste like. She scolded herself thinking about it, it would only make it worse. Although there were many occasions where she wanted to just let her vampire senses take over and get a whiff of Jacob. She wondered if his scent was as strong as the others or if the werewolf in him would disgust her enough to save his life.

She never dared though, what if it was the exact opposite and this attraction she had towards him would disguise his scent? The curiosity of it all was driving her insane, but she had to learn to withstand all of these questions that festered in her head. If she didn't, this curiosity would not only lead to her demise but it will kill more than just the cat.

"Uh...is that ok, Violet?" The young girl turned to look at the overgrown boy. She had not been paying attention the way she should be.

"Huh? Sorry, what was that? I was looking at the movie list." She lied. 'Liar!' she hissed in her head. She was lying constantly these days.

"Oh...want to watch Halloween II?" She had seen the commercials once. It looked like a gruesome movie and she did not want to see the way the artificial blood looked like in HD. Yet when she looked at the look the boy had, she could not resist. He looked like he really wanted to see it. Jacob took notice at her skeptical looks and felt the need to please her. "We don't have to; we could see anything you want." he told her smiling.

"No...no it's ok. I have you there." she told him holding on to his arm tighter. They smiled at each other as they received their tickets. "You bought the tickets...so I'll buy the snacks." she told him.

"What! You'll be broke if you do!" She grinned.

"I have some money I took, remember? Besides I want to, please Jacob? The tickets were $20, it's the least I could do." He was trying to get her to disagree to this, but she wouldn't. She made a puppy dog face and he couldn't help but give in.

"Fine." he uttered disappointed that she was paying for this.

"Um... I'll have a large popcorn, a large slushy...um two actually, um some skittles...three hot dogs... hmm... oh and nachos, please." she told the cashier who looked at her like she had two heads. He was still looking her and turned to Jacob when he heard him growl. The poor, lanky cashier gulped and went to get the things she asked for.

"Are you crazy?! That's a lot! You can't eat all of that!" he told her as he looked at the large amount of money the items totaled up to.

"Nope, but you can." she said grinning. He looked at her dumbfounded. She turned back around. "We can share the popcorn if you'd like or I can buy another..."

"No!" he shouted refusing that she buys anymore on his behalf. "Exactly how much money did you say you took?" he asked as the food was placed on the counter.

"Enough." she said shrugging. Jacob merely shook his head and began to take the food to prepare it. He put the condiments on his food. He grabbed few straws and napkins and waited for Violet to near him. "Ready?" she asked smiling. He nodded. It was moments like these were Violet felt like she could truly be related to her sister Alice.

Once in the movie theaters, the couple could see as the theater lights began to dim and they could see the figures of teenagers doing certain things. Violet hoped that, that wasn't what she looked like when she and Jacob were making out, otherwise poor, poor Billy. Jacob on the other hand just hoped that none of the lonelier guys hit on his girl. They found a nice spot on the sides where it had enough room for only four people at most in a row at the left-hand corner. They sat next to each other as they placed the other stuff on the other empty chairs. Violet reached over Jacob and got out her bag of treats.

"You're sharing that too, right?" asked Jacob.

"Nope." answered Violet. Jacob chuckled and began to reach for the fruity colored candy. This caused Violet to giggle and try to keep the candy out of reach. She knew he'd be able to get to them so in desperation to save her treats let the bag fall inside her jacket. She stuck her tongue out at him, but stopped when he smirked.

"I can still get it you know?" he told her.

"But you won't because you're a gentleman." she told him. He smiled shaking his head surprised by just how childish she could be. The movie began and he quieted down, he then swung his hand over her shoulders not wanting to act coy and subtle. She just snuggled into him, enjoying his temperature. During the movie Violet had offered her boyfriend skittles which he happily took. Soon half the snacks were gone.

Violet was actually paying attention since she was kind of confused, she had never seen the first one, but did not want to interrupt Jacob who was intently watching the movie. Sometime during the movie, the man made his first kill. She watched as the poor victim was viciously killed. How could humans come up with such vial things as these. 'What sick mind would find these killings amusing?', she thought She suddenly remembered the color of the blood, it looked so real, so...vivid.

The more she watched the movie, she noticed more blood took place and more murders did as well. She had always thought that the way her kind took the lives of others was awful, but this made what they did look like nothing, it was horrible. She suddenly felt like throwing up when she saw all the blood flash before her eyes. She didn't want to watch anymore and buried her head into Jacob's side.

Jacob, thinking that his imprint was terrified of the events taking place in the movie, wrapped his hand around her tighter trying to soothe her as he cooed reassuring words to her and telling her when it was ok to look. Jacob felt sort of torn as he watched how terrified she looked, he thought it would be best to leave if she felt like this.

"Let's go, I'll just catch it on DVD." he told her. She shook her head.

"No it's just...blood." she mumbled.

"Oh, are you afraid of blood?" He asked, and in some ways, she was so she nodded, feeling that she wasn't lying to him. He nodded. "Ok, I'll tell you when the blood scenes end, ok?" she nodded. Violet wasn't sure what she spent most of her time doing, watching the movie or just enjoying Jacob's musky, earthy scent. She no longer hid her face at his side out of fear, but just as a way to relax and feel at peace. The scent soothed her inner animal, or so she thought. She no longer felt nauseous, so whenever something bloody came up, she'd lean more into Jacob and take a strong whiff to unravel her tension.

By the time the movie ended, the two were just walking out. Jacob had the left-over popcorn and Violet carried the remains of her slushy. They were both surprisingly laughing, even Violet, after the horror movie she just viewed. Jacob led her to a small bench near the park. The place lit by adorable lanterns, making the dark trees look somewhat romantic. A light emitting from behind them as some local businesses turned on the lights brighter to illuminate the dark. They just both sat there talking about the movie, enjoying one another's company.

"Yeah, and then when they killed her! That was disgusting!" shouted Violet laughing as she shivered at the memory. "I think I'm going to have nightmares if I don't check my closet before I go to sleep." she said chuckling as she drank her slushy.

"Don't worry, I'll protect you." Jacob said, bringing her closer to his chest. They both somewhat laughed as she tried not to choke as she continued to enjoy her cold beverage. "Or...I could just sleep with you." at that Violet took in a long slurp out of surprise.

"Oww!" she whined as she felt the cold rush to her head. She held her head tightly. Jacob laughed and moved her hands.

"Brain freeze?" he asked laughing, she shook her head yes. "Here, this'll make it better." he said leaning in to kiss her. She didn't know if it truly worked or not, but she couldn't tell because she was too busy focusing on the task at hand.

The two just sat there, kissing romantically under the stars as the small lights around them practically put a spotlight on the two. The kiss was sweet and romantic, yet full of passion and wanting. The two just continued to kiss, never taking it too far as to look like the ravenous teenagers they saw at the theater. Walking couples stopped to admire the two young ones. The elderly ones smiled as they could practically feel the love emitting off of them. Folks stopped to smile seeing as they weren't doing anything inappropriate in public. While as teenagers passed, they gave jealous glances at the couple, either jealous at their happiness, love, or just the couple itself.

It did not matter to either of them. The two would pull back every now and then to breathe only to go back to the previous task. After a while they pulled back smiling at each other. The love evident in each other's eyes. It was obvious to all that saw that there was love between the two.

"I love you, Violet." said Jacob. Inside, he was scolding himself for saying that so soon, but was shocked when she spoke.

"I love you, too, Jacob." She answered, pecking his lips. He grinned, ecstatic at what he had just heard. Violet looked around seeing how dark it was. "What time is it?" she asked. Jacob stood up to check his cell phone.

"8:56...wanna head back?" he asked. She nodded. The both locked hands and headed home, to their home.
