Why the hell she isn't picking up calls!!
It was third time I was trying to call Naina.
Well, Naina! Talking about her, it's been a two months.
And the charity ball she organized, it was a talk in the world.
Every minute detail was taken care so beautifully that none of a person had even a bit of problem.
And I've seriously never met someone so chirpy. It's like you've a bad mood. Talk to Naina. You're tensed, talk to Naina.
In the two months, we got to know many things about each other. Like starting from,she knows I love to watch & play tennis where as she don't know T about Tennis.
Today, it was sunday and I wanted to meet her. I don't know why but I wanted to tell her...many things.
And, I wanted to know many things!
It was just yesterday that we fought!
I was in a bad mood and I said her...annoying when she kept asking, what's your story and I want to know that. And after I said her annoying & irritating, She didn't pick any call, neither replied to any message.
Honestly, I wanted to tell her because for the first time I found a friend other then Avi, on whom I could rely upon.
I was in my car when suddenly, I saw a van coming from wrong side and I put breaks in such a speed that , My balance got lost and my car hit the another car.
"Fucking damn it! Are you blind" I yelled at the van driver but he was already gone.
"And are you blind!" the woman in the car came out
"You!" I said
"Ugh! Arjun. Why does my life make me bump into you rather then some hot handsome man" Naina groaned and as soon as I saw her, I was at peace!
"I match the adjectives you gave by the way" I said
"Bursting the bubble of self obsession Mr. Singhania, you're a Nincompoop" She mocked and I chuckled.
"Shut up! Don't even try to chuckle. You hit my car" she raged
"Calm down! That was an accident. It was van driver's mistake" I said
"Mister ! I don't know anything. You're going to get my car repaired. Today only" She snapped
"Do you have insurance?" I asked
"Cheap! You've lot of money,still asking about insurance" She huffed
"God fine! Dumbass" I muttered when she hit me on back.
"Ouch Bitch! Your hands hurt" I said
"You dog" She replied while I called the driver and sent the car with him.
"If you have driver then why you drive?" She asked
"Because I like to drive" I told
"What you doing here" I asked and she pointed a building.
"Aditi! Come, let me make you both meet each other finally " She said
"Okay. She's married right?" I asked
"Yeah. I told you na" she said and I nodded.
As we reached the floor, Naina rang a bell and..Aditi opened door.
Come on! I've seen her in pics so I know her!
"You're late" Aditi said
"Time waster!" Naina replied pointing me.
"Oh my God! Finally I meet you! Arjun Singhania" She chirped
"Hello Aditi" I wished
"Heard a lot about you from Naina! Come inside both of you" She said and we both went inside.
"Now tell me why you called me." Naina asked
"Well, I needed to go somewhere but now..I'll take Mitesh " she said
"I didn't know you both had plans" I told
"Neither did I " Naina said glaring Aditi.
"That's alright! Mitesh will accompany me. You both sit here. Talk & chill. Naina,I'll be back after 2-3 hours okay" Aditi told
"But,Aditi" She was saying when Aditi spoke.
"Relax! You both don't meet frequently too. Sit and chill na. Arjun do you have any problem " Aditi asked
"If Naina doesn't have...then no" I said
"Fine" Naina mumbled
"Good. Bye. Order or make something for you both. You know everything" She said Naina who nodded as Aditi left and she locked door.
"Am..." she mumbled and I chuckled
"I'm not taking any advantage Naina" I mocked when she glared me.
"Okay first thing...I'm sorry..I yesterday... called you...annoying" I mumbled and Naina looked at me with a small frown.
"See Arjun, I didn't want to annoy you or invade your privacy for any matter.I thought it'll be all fun to tease you. I didn't know you'll be this serious about it.And I'm sorry I didn't realize in which ways it can affect you. May be I didn't think that everyone has reasons for some or the other thing in life. You too might have one.I'll not let my presence bother you again in this matter if you don't want to talk about it . I promise" She said all in one go and I looked at her.
"You yesterday said me,annoying and irritating . But you had no rights too. You could've once seriously said, I won't talk about it. I won't have asked ever again. But I thought,in these two months we've come a little close. From sharing how my cilent irritated me to how Your fiancee again talked about something ,I thought I can know about you and your exs and presents " she whispered as her voice became hoarse.
"Naina...I called you today so many times for this only. I needed to tell you! " I said
"Tell me what?" She asked
"About...My.... I don't know right word" I said and she looked at me.
"About, what's this between you & Ananya that you don't talk about" she snapped
"It's just a business deal. I'll eventually marry her. I like her! But, I don't believe in this marriage and love shit" I said
"Arjun Singhania that's because you don't believe that you can love someone forever" she gritted
"I didn't love any of my exes. I liked them" I protested
"Exactly! I want to know why! I've asked you so many times Arjun that why to make a deal out of most important thing in life ! Why not getting serious for one woman! Why the commitment issues!" She asked and I sighed
"Because nothing ..." I was saying when she spoke.
"Yes yes! Nothing last forever in your dictionary" She angrily said
"Listen Naina! I'm really talking to you nicely doesn't mean, You'll shout on me" I warned with an angry face and she glared me more.
"What you'll do!" She asked
"I'll simply walk out of the house" I replied
"Great! One day fucking leave me too then" She yelled as a tear left her eye.
There was totally a gush of silence for some minutes while I sighed wiping her tear.
"My first girl friend cheated on me with my own friend" I said and she looked at me shocked.
"What" She asked
"Dates back to University in States. It was a three year relationship. You know I was young, passionate about this all. Relationships and all. I've seen my parents so much in love. I believed in it so much. Disha was her name. You know she was someone for whom the college went mad. She was that beautiful " I mumbled
"We met first in Economics lecture. She was late and her seat was taken. She was looking here and there and found place near me empty. So she came and sat near me. Honestly, everyone was ready to just shift and make space for her. But she sat near me. And after that for whole time she kept muttering something or other about States, classes and people. But you know, I wasn't bored. I listened it all. Happily" I said
"Days passed and her seat fixed near mine. We became good friends and at the year end's new year party... We... Kissed" I whispered and she looked at me.
"The second year started with us dating. Everything was going perfect you know. I always used to think, we don't even fight. Like literally we never fought and I was so confused yet happy that we'll set couple goals. Fucking couple goals" I chuckled bitterly.
"Everything was good then what happened" She asked
"We planned our whole future you know. The one where everything was just perfect. You know seeing her you could never say she wasn't even into a future with me. And I like a fucking idiot thought, she.. She's one I want to live with" I bitterly said
"It was when we entered our masters degree. We both had common friend! That new year was worst new year of my life. I told her that I'll pick her up. She said, she's outside so she'll come by herself. I reached the venue early because I wanted to...propose her! I had ring with me!" I whispered and Naina looked at me with her mouth a bit open due to shock.
"But before entering, I saw two people going inside. Hand in hand! And that was her and Vishal . Our friend. I still thought that I saw someone else. So I went behind them to ask Vishal directly. But I saw them going towards a room. They went inside and locked it may be. I wasn't sure it was Disha. So I waited you know. I was an hour early. Had nothing to do. I was even waiting for Disha to come. But... As the room opened, I saw Vishal... And Disha. She kissed him and... I was in state of denial that my eyes might have seen something wrong. But who was I kidding! They were in a closed room for an hour. They were together. I..
I was cheated! Brutally! " I whispered when I felt her hand on mine.
"I confronted them and that's when I came to know, they were together since...five months. I just asked one question to Disha you know" I said looking at Naina who looked at me her eyes already teary.
"Why? Wasn't I enough? " I mumbled
"She told me... She was getting suffocated with me because I was seeing a future with her. A future which included marriage! A future which included us... Us with our families! I saw a happy life Naina, and she... Saw herself. That's when I realized, world is cruel.. World is selfish. And if you need to survive in this world you've to be selfish! I gave all my commitments to her and in the end, all I was left with.. Was just me! So you know Naina.... You've to heal yourself! And in this world, if you aren't selfish, you'll get ruined! And I didn't wanna get ruined! I wanted to get at the top. This love, commitments, marriage, everything is nothing to me now!" I stated and she looked at me.
"It is" She whispered
"Even after all this? Then you're a fool Naina. There's nothing called destiny! We've to write our story with our own hands!We make our destiny" I said
"We work hard for what is destined to be.Destiny is already written." she again argued
"Bullshit" I mumbled
"Why..you're afraid of commitments" She asked
"Commitments ruin a person. When you can't live up to them! They become hurdle! And I'm not made for commitments towards a person for sure! Another reason for never settling for commitments and marriage shit" I said
"Marriage isn't a shit" Naina snapped
"Be in my shoes Naina" I asked and she sighed
"Arjun, I know life fucked you up. Real bad. But that doesn't mean you stop believing. And go around saying nothing lasts forever" She said
"Naina, in this life,It's truth! The bitter truth! And look at yourself and tell me Naina, why you too have no boy friend. Not even best friends other then Aditi.
6 years of college Naina Rathi and no boy friend... Other then just one! Which you never talk about! why?" I asked and she looked at me as if she faced one thing which she avoided the most.
