"Von no... that is not how you flip a pancake."
Normani said while chuckling.
It was the next day. Both Normani and Von were up early making breakfast. Von was just standing there with no shirt on and locs all in his face. He just sucked his teeth as Normani grabbed the spatula from him. She looked up at him, noticing that he had pancake flour all over his face and chest.
"Boy what did you do?"
She laughed. She began to wipe some of it off him with her fingers.
"Nah yo ass supposed to be sitting the fuck down while I do this shit."
He said before attempting to take back the spatula from her. She just moved it away from him, before shaking her head.
"Von I am not crippled, I'm pregnant that's all."
She pointed.
She used the spatula to properly flip the pancake that was sizzling in butter, keeping its perfect circular shape before smiling.
"See, look how cute that is."
She grinned. Von just used a paper towel to wipe the rest of his face off. He glanced at how she had flipped the pancake perfectly before playfully rolling his eyes.
"Oouuu! Wait I actually ordered these heart shaped pancake molds-"
"Aww hell naw. I ain't eatin no heart shaped nothin."
Von said while shaking his head. He just gently grabbed the spatula back before placing it down onto the counter.
"But Vonnnnn. Just look how cute these are."
She insisted. Von crossed his arms against his chest as he just watched her disappear from the kitchen. He could hear her rushing down the hall to get whatever nonsense she was talking about. It took her a few seconds before he heard her coming right back.
"I mean how adorable is this?!"
She said before appearing back into the kitchen. He couldn't help but chuckle at her excitement as she showed him the heart shaped mold.
"I got these off amazon. You can literally turn your pancakes into a heart. Pleaseeee just try it with me."
She begged him. He licked his lips a bit, slightly rolling his eyes before taking the mold from her hand.
"Gimme kiss first."
He mumbled while leaning his head down. She just got on her tippy toes, pecking his lips a few times.
"Mmhmm."
He hummed, lightly grabbing her neck with his hand. He pressed his lips against hers, sucking on her bottom lip as she just laughed.
"Mmhmm Von just focus."
She muttered before pulling away. He breathed in deeply, rolling his eyes.
"Aiight lil folks. How you do this?"
He asked. Normani just removed the pancake that was already on the pan to a different plate.
"Just put some butter on the pan."
She instructed. Von just did as he was told, grabbing a slice of butter before tossing it onto the pan. He picked up the pan, moving the butter around so that it covered the entire plate. He then placed the pan down before she handed him the mold.
"Ok, now just put the mold onto the pan and then pour the pancake mix inside of it- but wait, before you do that let me go get my phone!"
She said before rushing off again. Von just sucked his teeth as he stood there, holding the heart shaped mold in his hand.
"On king david..."
He muttered to himself.
"King david is probably tired of you putting shit on him."
Normani snickered before walking back into the kitchen.
"How the fuck did you even hear me?"
Von questioned. She just smirked while pulling up her camera.
"Okay yall, my baby daddy is about to make me heart shaped pancakes. Show them how you do it bae."
Mani said as she began to record. Von just frowned, trying not to laugh before shaking his head. He placed the mold onto the hot pan before pouring the pancake mix in.
"Mmhmm y'all see that. Look how cute this is."
She gushed, zooming in on the heart shaped batter.
"I did it right?"
He questioned. She just nodded, smiling as she panned the camera onto him now.
"Mmhmm look at you throwin down in the kitchen."
She boosted. Von grinned, feeling his cheeks turn warm as she grabbed his face with her hands. He just leaned down, pecking her lips again before pulling away.
"You so handsome."
She poked him just before her phone started to ring.
"Oh shoot.."
She muttered as her video stopped recording. Ari's name popped up on the screen as she just frowned.
"Mannn she betta not interrupt us. Tell ha you busy."
Von pointed. Normani just chuckled before waving him off.
"Just make sure my heart doesn't burn."
She said just as she answered Ari's call.
"Hey Arianaaaaaa."
Normani leaned up against the counter with the phone pressed against her ear. Von just made sure to flip the pancake over, lowering the fire just a bit so it didn't burn. He was actually impressed by how perfect the pancake looked.
"Damn... maybe this lil heart shape things ain't so bad."
He muttered to himself.
"Wait- Ari what's wrong?"
Normani questioned just as her mood shifted. Von just frowned, glancing over at her with confusion. He could hear Ari's voice faintly through the phone. It almost sounded like she was crying.
"What do you mean he never came home? Hold on, let me ask Von."
Mani spoke before making eye contact with him. She quickly put her phone on mute as Von raised his eyebrows a bit.
"Ask Von what?"
He pointed. She just sucked her teeth.
"Wasn't Herb with you guys last night at the studio? Ari hasn't heard from him since yesterday and he never came home last night."
She explained. Von just paused, instantly remembering how they left Herb behind with a bunch of females at the studio last night. He squinted his eyes a bit, quickly looking away from Mani before focusing back onto the pancakes.
"Aw yeah... he was with us. We left his ass at the studio."
He tried to speak in a casual tone. Von could feel Normani just staring into his soul as he turned the fire off. He picked up the heartshaped pancake, placing it neatly onto a plate.
"Was there anybody else at the studio he was with? Maybe Booka or Muwop?"
She continued to question. Von just shrugged, not really trying to make eye contact with her.
"Von... I'm not playing with you."
She pointed.
"Aye look, I ain't no snitch. But Ion know if you really wanna tell Ari this ova the phone."
He began. Normani just frowned.
"What do you mean? Tell her what?"
She continued to question. Von shook his head.
"Aww hell naw. Cus you gon open yo big mouth and tell ha. I ain't sayin nun."
He pointed. Normani just mugged him.
"Von be serious for once. She's my cousin."
"And Herb is my brotha. Even tho his ass be fuckin up n shit."
Von said. Normani just rolled her eyes. She unmuted Ari before talking to her again.
"Ari, Von said that he last saw Herb at the studio. He also said that he's gonna try to go and find him for you."
"Huh?"
Von whispered. Normani just shot him a look before waving him off.
"Mmhmm. After breakfast I'll have Von go out to look for him. Don't worry."
Mani said, trying to calm Ari down. She just pouted, feeling bad as Ari sounded devastated through the phone.
"Ugh don't cry. How about you come over to my place? We can chill together in the mean time."
Mani suggested. Von just rolled his eyes inwardly. He took out his own phone before quickly texting Herb on his whereabouts. Once the text went through, he placed his phone down before grabbing a clean plate from the cabinet. He began putting eggs, turkey bacon and a heart shaped pancake on a plate for Mani.
"Ok. I'll see you in 20 minutes."
She said before hanging up.
"Hea, feed my son. You playin games lil folks."
He instructed. He just put her plate onto the table.
"Unt unt you the one playing games. You know where Herb is for real?"
She questioned. Von just didn't say anything as he began to put food onto his own plate. He could feel Normani burning holes into the back of his head as she just waited for him to answer.
"Look..."
He began. He made his way over to the table before sitting down.
"Just come sit wit me."
He said. She just rolled her eyes before taking a seat next to him.
"Ever since the whole Jayda situation, I make all my studio sessions private. No hoes allowed."
He explained. Normani just eye'd him suspiciously before taking a bite out of her bacon.
"Last night, it was me n folks nem at the studio just vibin n shit. I was slumped, higher denna bitch just thinkin bout chu."
He began. Normani couldn't help but suck her teeth at his story telling.
"I'm in that bitch zooted up on king David. I'm in my feelins n shit. Me and Durk get ta talkin. He tryna cheer a nigga up, giving me relationship advice-"
"Von what does this have to do with anything?"
Normani groaned.
"Mani just listen.."
He insisted. She just chuckled.
"So boom, I pass Durk a lighter, and all of a sudden I'm hearing movement in tha room. I look up n I'm seein hoes just pouring in one by one."
He went on. Normani just frowned her face.
"Me and Durk get ta lookin at each other like hell naw. This shit felt like a set up. We start standing up, just tryna get up outta there."
"Mmhmm."
She snickered.
"Look Mani, Im saying tho. So we start lookin at Herb like he crazy or sum. He all cuddled up wit some familiar looking hoe-"
"Familiar? Where you know her from?"
Normani said before raising her eyebrow a bit. Von just shrugged.
"Look ion know. You know I suck wit remembering people. On my mama the only girl I remember is you."
He slickly stated.
"You are so annoying."
She laughed.
"Anyway, we tryna get Herb to leave wit us and he insisted on stayin. After that, you ended up callin my phone about yo icecream, and my ass was too geeked about hearing from you anyways, so I just left his ass."
Normani nodded slowly, feeling her heart drop just a bit.
"Y'all left him in a room full of girls? So you're saying that he cheated?"
She questioned.
"Aye look, see cus I ain't say allat nie. You puttin words in my mouth."
He raised his hands up in defense.
"Von... be so for real right now. Because why was he cuddled up with some girl? If anything, he probably went home with her and that's why he never came home to Ari."
She said. Von just shrugged, focusing on his food.
"This is so fucked up."
She muttered. She just felt so bad for Ari. None of this sounded good at all. It just made no sense to her because Herb and Ari were literally married. So why would he choose now to cheat?
"You gotta go find him and talk to him Von. Please."
Mani pouted. Von was in the middle of enjoying his heart shaped pancake. He just looked over at her as she gave him a serious look.
"Please Von. He's your friend and he's probably out there making a bad decision right now."
She begged him lightly. Von just sighed a bit.
"I swea... you lucky I love you for real."
He muttered. She just smiled as he rolled his eyes.
"Aiight. Ima go find him. But once I do just know it might get ugly between him and Ari. They gotta take that shit to tha parking lot. Ion need them screamin in my son's ears."
He just reached over and began rubbing on Normani's stomach.
"Von... I don't think the baby can hear yet-"
"Nah I ain't slow. Babies can hear when you talk to em in yo stomach."
He stated in a matter-of-fact tone.
"Well yeah I know that. But the baby isn't fully formed yet. I'm only 4 months pregnant."
She chuckled.
"Yeahh aiight."
He said, still keeping his hand on her baby bump. She just smiled, eyeing him as he just gazed at her belly.
"I can't believe you keep calling the baby a boy."
She teased. He just shrugged.
"Ion know why I do that either. It just makes sense ta me."
He said. She just smiled at him as he continued to rub her stomach gently before pulling away.
"If it's a girl though... what would we call her?"
Normani questioned suddenly. Von just looked at her before leaning back into his seat. He reached over, grabbing on to Mani's hand and gently bringing it towards his lips.
"Ummm hmmm..."
He thought to himself while pecking her hand. She just blushed.
"Truthfully... Ion know."
He muttered.
"I ain't neva thought of no girl names before. This shit hard."
He added in.
"Well, we have 5 more months to figure it out."
She said with excitement in her voice. Von just grinned.
"Yupp. And we got a couple weeks to look fa a house. Cus I refuse to have a baby and switch between yo apartment and mine."
He stated.
"Yes. I actually made an appointment to look at a couple of houses this week."
She said with an excited tone. Von just grinned at her smile.
"Aye look, as long as you like it then I'll buy it. Just say the word."
He said before kissing on her hand again.
"I also got my album release party this week. And you comin wit me."
He reminded her. She just nodded, using her other hand to rub on her stomach slowly. Von just couldn't stop admiring how beautiful she looked right now. With her little pregnant belly poking out, and her huge engagement ring sitting perfectly on her finger.
Everything just seemed right in this moment.
Normani could feel her cheeks turning warm just by his gaze.
"You always staring at me like that."
She chuckled before pulling her hand away from him. He just rolled his eyes, leaning in to kiss her cheek instead.
"It's cus I love yo ass lil foe nem."
He mumbled against her skin. He began traveling his lips down to the nape of her neck. She just giggled lightly as he used his tongue to lick her skin, tickling her a bit.
"Ok Von stopppp!"
She gasped.
He just chuckled before going back to kissing her neck again. He began to suck on it slowly, feeling her body tense up just a bit.
"Go and find Herb, seriously."
She breathed out.
"Mmhm."
He hummed, leaving a hicky right on her neck. She could feel his hand gripping onto her thigh as he kissed his way back up to her lips again. They began to kiss each other slowly, Normani sticking her tongue right into his mouth. He just smirked, lifting her her up before making her straddle his lap.
She could just feel him become rock hard underneath her, causing her to moan into his mouth.
"Let me eat you from the back."
He mumbled before pulling away. She just gasped as he licked his lips while eyeing her lustfully. Before she could even say anything else, there was a knock coming from the door.
Normani just blushed as Von rolled his eyes with annoyance.
"Mannnn... how fast was that girl driving? Don't she live across town?"
He groaned, referring to Ari. Mani just giggled as she got up from his lap. As hot and bothered as she was, she just cleared her throat before making her way out the kitchen towards the door.
She unlocked it, swinging it open as Ari just stood there with tears in her eyes.
"Oh Ari..."
Normani frowned just as she pulled her into a hug. Ari just sobbed right onto Mani's shoulder as the tears came flowing down her face.
"I don't know what I ever did to that man for him to be treating me like this..."
Ari just cried.
"You did nothing wrong Ari. Some men are just jerks for real."
Normani cooed. They pulled away before Mani made sure to close her door.
"Come on. You hungry? We made some breakfast."
She began while motioning for Ari to follow her to the kitchen. Von was in the middle of washing all the dishes now just as the girls entered.
"I'm not hungry. I can't even eat. I just feel sick."
Ari stated. Von just glanced at her, seeing how much of a mess she looked.
Damn Herb..
He just thought to himself.
"Hey Ari. You good?"
He asked while trying to be nice. Ari just shook her head no before taking a seat at the table. Normani grabbed a water bottle from the fridge before joining her.
"No. I'm not good. I feel like Herb cheated on me or something."
She sniffled some more. Normani just gave Von a look as he cleared his throat a bit. He really didn't know what to say as she continued to cry. He just turned the running water off in the sink before drying his hands with a cloth.
"Ima just go see if I can find his ass."
He muttered as Normani nodded her head.
"I swear... He's been acting like this for weeks. Staying out late. Coming home at like 7am in the morning every single time. We ain't even have sex in weeks. Do you know what that means?!"
Ari pointed. Normani just frowned, feeling her heart drop sadly.
"That means he must be getting pussy from somewhere else."
She added in. Normani just passed Ari a few tissues as she wiped her face.
"I'm pregnant Mani. I never told you that, but I just found out yesterday."
Ari revealed. Normani just gasped in shock.
"Oh my gosh... you are?!"
She gushed. Ari just nodded.
"Yup. But I swear.... if Herb did something to fuck up this marriage... I'm not keeping this baby."
She stated in a serious tone.
