Sitting quietly in the passenger seat, Normani just faced the window as Von drove down the freeway. It was a quiet ride as she still had an attitude. Mani was trying to see how long she planned on being mad at him for. I mean, she still wanted to tell him the good news about her being pregnant and all.
She just felt like being petty.
Her eyes were focused onto the skyline of the city as Von cruised down the highway. He kept glancing over at her with his own eyes. He was trying to figure out what she was possibly thinking about. He knew that she was still pissed, but he was hoping that her mood would change soon.
He just gripped the steering wheel with one hand before leaning back in his seat. He could still feel the ring tucked safely inside his jean pocket. Every time he thought about purposing, he could feel himself getting nervous.
What if she didn't want to marry me? What if she was way too upset and said no? These thoughts just kept popping up in his head. He just shifted a bit before glancing over at her again.
Von just cleared his throat slightly.
"So... you just gon stay quiet the entire ride like dat?"
He questioned while trying to lighten the mood. He could see her eyes cut towards him before she focused back onto the window.
"Do you know how many times I called you today?"
She questioned, still not looking at him. He just sighed a bit.
"Yeah... I know-"
"And do you have any idea how worried I was for you?"
She continued on.
"I mean, seriously Dayvon? You can't just send me a quick text telling me that you're good? You're busy? Something?"
She pointed. Her eyes were on him now as she just glared in his direction. Lowkey, he thought it was so adorable how much she truly cared and worried about him. It made his heart feel warm. He just couldn't even be mad at her.
"I know Mani. You a hunnid percent right."
He admitted.
"I'm right?"
She repeated. He just raised his eyebrows a bit while looking at her briefly.
"Yeah... I mean whatchu want me to do? Argue wit you?"
He questioned.
"I was wrong. I shoulda texted you back instead of havin you worry yo pretty lil ass about me. Ion eva mean ta stress you out or nun like that, Mani."
He went on.
"Yeah well you did so..."
She said before rolling her eyes. She couldn't help but think about how Von was just being so sweet to her right now. He was so quick to own up to it whenever he was wrong. It was making it hard for her to be so pissed at him.
But she refused to back down.
"Can I tell you what happened?"
He suggested. He continued driving down the long highway as she just sighed.
"I don't really care anymore."
She mumbled.
"You sho? I mean, you might definitely wanna hear about this."
He insisted. She just frowned before looking at him again.
"What did you do Von?"
She said, giving him her full attention. He just thought for a moment, thinking back to the events that had happened with Kema earlier today.
"Well... I went ta go see Kema."
He admitted. He could hear Normani sucking her teeth as she just rolled her eyes again.
"How many times do I have to keep hearing her name tonight? This shit is getting old."
She huffed.
"Look I know. But sum happened."
He went on. She just looked at him again, waiting for him to continue.
"First of all, I was neva in New York. I was in Atlanta the entire time."
He admitted.
"And before you get mad, I had to tie up some loose ends wit yo party, which is why I couldn't really see you like that today."
He added in. Normani just squinted her eyes annoyedly, refraining from saying anything else as she just listened to him.
"Now you know I been lookin fa Kema's ass fa days. I been tryin to see if I could find ha so we could get this paternity test over wit."
He continued.
"Anyway, I'm running errands when she hits my phone from a random ass numba. So I'm like cool, I'm finna pull up on ha goofy ass."
Normani just sat up, turning her body to face him as she listened intently to his story.
"So woo woo woo fast forward, me, Wop, Booka, Herb n Smurk pull up ta her crib. Ha ass was in hiding from 12 at sum random ass house onna south side of Atlanta."
He explained.
"My whole plan was to just go in there, convince her ass to do a DNA test just so we can settle this shit once and fa all."
"Mmmhmm."
Normani just hummed in agreement.
"So boom, shorty nem stayed behind as I walked up in Kema's crib. She get ta touchin on me n shit. She even kissed me at one point-"
"Dayvon.."
Normani said in a serious tone. He just chuckled.
"Aye look, shorty was tweakin on foe nem. I had ta handle ha ass quick."
He said. Mani just rolled her eyes once more.
"But look, I'm sayin. So I'm in there and we arguin right? Kema get ta yellin at me cus she'on wanna take no paternity test. I'm like bet, then fuck you cus that baby ain't mine."
"Right.."
Normani muttered.
"Cus if it was my baby for real she woulda been quick to take that DNA test and prove that shit. Like, I ain't slow? These hoes think I'm slow Mani."
He pointed. Normani just couldn't help but chuckle a little.
"Anyway, I turn my back on her goofy ass, and you know what she said?"
He continued.
"What did she say Von?"
"She said she was gon kill my ass if I walked out on ha."
Normani just frowned.
"But look, I got ta thinkin real quick. I just grab the choppa from underneath my shirt thinkin I'm bouta point it at dis hoe fa threatening me, but maybe my ass was to damn slow cus I start hearin shots blaring outta nowhere."
He went on. Normani could feel her heart racing a bit. She truly had no idea that this was all going on today.
"So boom, I turn around I'm thinkin I got hit. I'm lookin down I got blood on my favorite gucci shirt. On foe nem grave Kema owes me a new gucci shirt."
He snickered.
"So wait, who got shot?"
Normani questioned.
"Kema."
He revealed. Normani just gasped a bit.
"Herb nem came bustin thru da back doe. I told they asses ta come n get me if I wasn't back inna car in like 10 minutes. Them niggas wasn't playin around."
He pointed.
"But look, her ass got shot inna arm. She'll be aiight for real. It wasn't nun serious. She was freakin out tho. On King david we had to calm her ass down. Shorty was tweakin on foe nem."
He chuckled. Normani just couldn't believe her ears.
"Kema fo real had a gun in ha hands though. She was deadass about to kill me. Shit woulda been bad if folks nem ain't come in as fast as they did."
He said while shaking his head.
"So.... you almost died is what you're saying?"
She questioned. Von just nodded his head.
"Yeah... but I wasn't tryna go out like that. Especially not on yo birthday. Hell naw."
He went on.
"Anyways, she was begging us ta bring her to the hospital. She all cryin n shit. That's when I start askin ha to tell me tha truth. I told her ass, if she wanted to live she would have to clear the fuckin air about this damn baby."
He pointed.
"And?"
Normani impatiently said. Von just paused for a dramatic affect as he cut his eyes towards Mani.
"Von you playin for real."
She groaned.
"Aye look, for real tho she admitted to lying about the baby bein mine. She said that she was carrying Kentrell's baby and was using that shit as leverage to try n get me to be wit ha. Ain't that some lifetime ass shit? On King david."
He said while shaking his head. Normani could feel a huge wave of relief wash over her as she let his words settle into her brain.
"So... Kema isn't carrying your baby for real?"
She clarified. He just nodded.
"I promise you, that girl does not have my seed in ha. Ion got no baby on the way. I ain't nobody's damn baby daddy on my mama."
He boosted. Normani just gulped a little before leaning back into her seat again.
"Well, I wouldn't say that..."
She muttered.
"Hmm?"
He questioned.
They began to pull up towards the airport. Normani just frowned with confusion once again.
"Why are we at the airport?"
She questioned. He just smirked.
"You still mad at me?"
He slickly spoke. Normani just waved him off.
"For real though, I'm takin yo ass somewhere. Yo birthday ain't ova yet."
He said while grinning.
"Taking me somewhere?"
She muttered to herself. She could see the excitement in his eyes as they pulled up to park the car.
"We actually takin a private jet. So we ain't even gotta worry about TSA or nunna dat."
He revealed.
"A privet jet?"
She repeated. He just nodded.
It didn't take long for Von to park the car. The two hopped out, suddenly being met with a few security guards. The security guards began unloading the trunk, grabbing all of their luggage from the back.
"Wait... you packed up clothes for me already?"
Normani pointed with confusion. Von just nodded. He took her hand gently, helping her out of the car before closing the door. He just towered over her as she was busy readjusting her dress a bit. The red dress that she had on looked so good against her skin tone.
Her little frame was perfect to him. He just licked his lips real slowly as she glanced up at him. She watched as he just grinned a little.
"Umm... I don't know if I still like you yet."
She pointed slickly. He chuckled.
"It's coo lil folks. We'll see about that."
He teased. He just leaned in, attempting to give her a kiss on the lips. She slickly turned her head, instead having him kiss her cheek. Von just chuckled lightly as he let his arm slide right around her waist, pulling her close.
She could feel his soft lips pressing against her skin, leaving kisses all down her jaw towards her neck. He used his free hand to tilt her head back a bit, gently sucking on the nape of her neck. She just tried her best to fight the pleasurable feeling as she closed her eyes. She could feel his tongue gliding against her skin.
He sucked on it, leaving a hicky as she moaned lightly.
"Von unt unt-"
She muttered, attempting to push him away. He just smirked a little before letting go.
"You lookin too decent lil foe nem."
He whispered into her ear. She just blushed as he let her go before gazing down at her. His eyes were filled with love and lust at the same time. She could feel herself blushing.
"Come on, let's catch this flight."
He said before taking her hand. He led the way as they walked towards a huge private jet. It was already parked, ready and waiting for them to board. The pilot and flight attendants were patiently waiting for them as they all greeted Von and Normani.
Mani couldn't help but feel like this was extremely fancy. She had never done anything like this before. Von let her go first as she climbed up the steps right onto the jet. She just gasped once she finally made it inside.
The jet looked so high class and cozy. There were roses all over the place, with a small sign that said Happy Birthday Mani which hung from the ceiling. She just blushed as she made her way through.
Von couldn't stop grinning as he watched her eyeing the entire plane.
"You like?"
He questioned. She just turned around before looking up at him. He could tell she was stunned by it all.
"Aye look, this only tha beginning. It's still more surprises on the way."
He reminded her.
"More surprises?"
She repeated. He just nodded.
"Are you going to tell me where you're taking me?"
She questioned while raising her eyebrows. He just took a seat on one of the chairs before motioning for her to come sit right onto his lap. Mani didn't even bother to hesitate anymore as she was slowly starting to not be so upset with him.
She made her way over, plopping herself onto his lap as he wrapped his arms around her waist. He just pulled her close, gazing into her face as she smiled.
"Im takin yo fine ass to St. Lucia."
He grinned. Her eyes just grew wide a bit.
"No way!!"
She gushed. He just nodded.
"Aye look, we gon spend a few days down there, just you n me."
He cooed.
"Von are you serious?!"
She couldn't help but gush. He just nodded his head.
"Is you still mad at me Mani?"
He mumbled while eyeing her lips. She just sucked her teeth a bit.
"I don't know.."
She teased. He shrugged lightly, leaning in to kiss her. This time, she didn't turn or pull away at all from him. They just kissed each other slowly, their lips smacking together just as the plane began to take off.
Normani just closed her eyes, missing the feeling of his lips against her.
"I missed you so much today."
He grumbled while gripping onto her waist. She could feel his tongue rubbing against her bottom lip. She just opened her mouth, giving him access as both of their tongues began to wrestle with each other.
Normani cupped his face with her hands as she moaned lightly into his mouth. She could feel how hard he was getting underneath her. It was driving her insane.
"You missed me?"
He questioned before pulling away slightly. She just nodded her head while eyeing him lustfully. He leaned in again, pecking her lips a few times.
"You tryna fuck onna jet?"
He slickly said while raising his eyebrows. Normani just gasped.
"Uhh no! Not with all these flight attendants walking around."
She giggled. He just rolled his eyes playfully.
*3 hours later*
The flight to St Lucia was actually a 4 hour plane ride. But both Mani and Von didn't mind it at all. They cozied up with each other the entire time, watching movies and eating food. They even talked about everything under the sun. Von was just happy that Normani wasn't so pissed with him anymore. He just wanted her in a good mood for what was to come later.
Right now she was asleep next to him on one of the couches. Her head was on his lap as he gently caressed her face. The plane was landing as they finally made it to St Lucia.
"Come on beautiful, wake up."
He whispered. He just leaned down giving her soft kisses on her face as she stirred in her sleep a bit.
"Hmmm?"
She questioned.
"Look.."
He pointed towards the window. Her eyes just fluttered open as she sat up. She glanced out the window, seeing nothing but a beautiful night view of a private beach. The ocean looked huge as the moon shined brightly against it.
There were huge mountains and palm trees scattered across the land.
She just couldn't believe how beautiful it all was.
"You might've just did your big one here."
She teased before looking at him. He just chuckled, lightly mushing her face.
"I'll beat yo ass."
He joked. They both just laughed.
It didn't take them long to finally get off the plane. They were now in the back of a Bentley truck getting transported to the private island that Von rented out just for the two of them.
He was starting to feel real nervous the closer they got to their destination. Normani was busy admiring the scenery in awe, pointing at anything she saw that was out of the ordinary. Von could just feel the anxiety on his chest and the butterflies in his stomach.
This was probably the most nervous he had ever been in his life. He knew he wanted to make her his forever. He wanted her to be his wife. It was Normani and him against the world. His love for her was way too deep. He knew he could never love anybody else the way he loved her again. She had his heart and he knew it.
Those 3 years of them being separated was like hell. That was something he never wanted to ever do again. Marrying her was his way of showing her how serious he was about this.
He just gazed at her as she was nonchalantly taking pictures of every single thing with her phone.
The car had finally pulled up to a huge private house that was right off the beach. Normani was just excited as she quickly hopped out the car.
"Damn girl-"
He chuckled as she just stared up at the huge house. She grinned, admiring how luxurious and beautiful it looked. She noticed there were roses all over the sand, leading right inside the home.
She just frowned before looking over at Von.
"Go ahead... follow them lil folks."
He insisted. She blushed a little, feeling her heart flutter as she began to just follow the trail of flowers right inside. Von followed behind her as she made it up the steps towards the doors.
She just pushed it open, blushing even more as the trail continued on inside. There were balloons and flowers everywhere. The inside of the house was super cozy and luxurious. She just paused for a second, looking back at Von as he grinned.
"Don't be scare nie. Keep goin, it leads all the way to tha back."
He motioned.
"You are about to make me cry for real."
She pouted. He just chuckled.
"You want me to take yo hand?"
He offered. She nodded her head as he made his way up to her. Instead of taking her hand, he surprisingly lifted her up bridal style as she gasped.
"Boy-"
She giggled as he smirked. He just carried her the rest of the way towards the back of the house. He kept his eyes on her as she couldn't stop smiling at everything.
"You know I love you so much Mani."
He began just as they finally made it outside. She looked at him, there eyes connecting like never before. He could feel his heart racing as he gently put her down.
"I love you too Dayvon."
She whispered, feeling her eyes begin to sting. She began to look around again, noticing that they were right on the beach now.
She just gazed at the scene in front of her.
Normani just gasped, making her way inside the bed of roses as the candles lit up all around her. The cool night air just brushed against her skin. She tried her best to keep her emotions contained as she took everything in. She truly felt like a princess in this moment.
She felt special. She felt loved.
Normani couldn't believe that Von had planned all of this just for her. Her heart began to race as she slowly turned around to face him. To her surprise, Von was was currently kneeling down on one knee with a ring in his hand. His eyes were filled with nothing but absolute pure love as he just gazed up at her.
She just paused, feeling the shock take over her body. She was definitely not expecting him to be down on one knee, with a huge diamond ring shining underneath the moonlight.
"Normani..."
He began.
"I just been nervous all day, well all week even just thinkin about this moment witchu."
He went on. Normani couldn't even find the words to say anything as she just watched him.
"It wasn't until the day we ended things 3 years ago, was when I realized how much I deeply loved you. Tha pain from losing you made me realize how bad I actually needed you in my life."
He continued on.
"You a whole blessing ta me. Sometimes I be feeling like ion even deserve a women like you. I am not a perfect man. I got demons that seem ta follow me everywhere. But you've been an angel in my life, sticking beside me no matter what."
Normani could feel her eyes glistening with tears as she breathed in deeply. Her bottom lip quivered as Von just stood up. He moved his way closer to her, gently taking her hand.
"I am so greatful fa you opening up yo heart and giving me a second chance. And I wanna spend the rest of my life proving ta you how much this love we have means ta me. Ion wanna do this wit nobody else Mani. Nobody else but you."
He took her hand, pressing it against his chest so that way she could feel how fast his heart was racing. He had a few tears sliding down his cheek as they just gazed into eachother.
"It would be an honor ta marry you, ta make you my wife, the mother of my kids. And I can understand if you'on wanna do this right now. I am willing ta wait fa you for how ever long-"
"Yes Von.."
She finally breathed out. He just raised his eyebrows up as the tears began to flow down her face.
"I don't want to wait any longer. Of course I want to be your wife!"
She sniffled. He just couldn't help but smile big as he slid the ring right onto her finger. She used her other hand to wipe the tears off his face as she just gazed at him. She looked down at the ring, admiring how huge and beautiful it looked on her finger.
And it fit her perfectly.
Von just grabbed her face with his hand, lifting it up before kissing her deeply. All of his nerves had washed away. They both just felt nothing but high on love in this moment. They embraced each other, kissing each other deeply like never before.
Normani quickly pulled away, trying to catch her breath.
"Wait Von.. I have to tell you something."
She spoke softly. He just looked at her, giving her all of his attention. He watched as she looked up at him again before a small smile formed on her face.
"Dayvon... Im pregnant."
