El and max had been dating for a few months even though el lives in California and max is still in Indiana. It was els birthday tomorrow and though she was excited she was also sad that max wouldn't be there.
She walked out of her room solemnly
"What's wrong?" Her brother will asked worriedly
"Max didn't answer the phone"
"I'm sure she's busy and will call you soon"
"Yeah..."
"Where's mom?"
"She said she had some last minute errands to run"
"Oh."
"And Jonathan went somewhere with argyle"
"Alright, want to watch a movie?"
"Sure"
El sits down on the couch next to her brother and they turn on a movie.
After around 45 minutes they hear the door open and pause the movie.
"El i have a surprise for you!" Joyce calls to the kids
Will and El both walk over to the door intrigued
"Ooh what is it"
Joyce points to the still open door as max steps into the house.
"Max!!!"
El runs over and wraps her in a hug
"What are you doing here?" She asks once releasing max from the hug
"It's your birthday tomorrow so i though I'd come see you"
El pulls her in again this time for a kiss
