It was February 7th and Kyoka was picking up groceries with Mina since they had decided to hang out and make pizza together that night. Jiro couldn't help but notice the aisles filled with red decorated with pink hearts and a few couples walking around holding hands, they were on their way back from getting some milk and she stopped in front of it, "Wow..." She thought. 'is this what couples do?' "You alright?" Asked Mina as she walked over behind Kyoka. "Yeah, just look around it's all red and gross." Kyoka shared in an annoyed tone.
"What do you mean! we're surrounded by so many cute things! Valentine's Day is the best!" Mina cheered. "Easy for you to say." Kyoka smiled before opening her lips again to speak. "Aren't you crushing on that one guy you hang around with all the time?" Jiro asked chuckling. "I'm not crushing on him, he's my friend." Mina huffed in response. Jiro shook her head at her. "Whatever you say," The girl laughed at her friend.
"Anyways I for one am excited for Valentine's Day I'm great everyone should get me gifts." Mina laughed. "Couldn't say the same for me." Jiro snickered. "Come on! you're a celebrity there's got to be tons of people dying to get you a rose or chocolate!" Mina chimed.
"Yeah, but do I really want gifts from people I don't know?" Jiro asked chuckling slightly. "Um, YEA?" Mina choked out. Jiro rolled her eyes as she continued down the aisle, "Come on, just let yourself have some fun." Mina urged.
"Okay fine, but only because you asked so nicely." Jiro laughed.
"So Me, You, Yaomomo, and whoever else you want to bring we all go somewhere for Valentine's Day! maybe to a club that way you could see how many guys would die for you." Mina laughed. Jiro rolled her eyes "Been a while since I've been to one." She chuckled. "Exactly why we should go! C'mon! Momo's got to know somewhere that'll be convenient for us since yknow your a fucking celebrity we can't necessarily go to a local." Mina sighed.
"Yeah, Yknow sometimes I regret starting in the music career I regret getting this big," Jiro admitted looking around to see if anyone was around first. "It's a hassle huh?" Mina asked quietly so no one heard them talking. Jiro nodded as they continued making their way to the checkout. "It really is..." She whispered.
The girls reached the checkout line without seeing anyone and were able to pay quickly and hurriedly left the store without being questioned by anyone. While they were on their way home Mina's phone began to ring Mina answered it almost instantly seeing that the contact said Sero. "What's up!!" she blared.
"I just called to let you know you forgot your lipstick in Denki's room," Sero replied. Jiro felt like her eyes were gonna pop out of her skull. "Oh crap! I totally forgot" Mina exclaimed giggling. Jiro wanted to tell Mina off but she didn't. Something about Mina being in her ex's room made her heart sink but she reminded herself it wasn't like that. at least she hoped it wasn't but to be honest his life was non of her business.
"Yeah! don't feel too bad though he found my wallet under his bed as well so I guess we both forgot something in his room." Sero chuckled. "Hahaha! Yea!" Mina beamed.
"Well, I got to get going! I'll talk to you later alright?" Mina smiled as her lips parted. "YEAH GET OFF THE PHONE WITH YOUR GIRLFRIEND." Denki laughed in the background. Mina blushed "Shut the hell up Kam!" She yelled through the phone defensively. Jiro had spaced out t the point of hyper-focusing on the phone. 'He sounds so alive so happy' Jiro thought.
"Never!" He replied cheerfully. Mina ended the call blushing like crazy. "seems like someone likes Sero after all" Jiro teased giggling softly. "Pffft! what noooooo!" She urged her friend to drop the topic.
"Alrighty, I'm gonna choose to leave it alone." Jiro rolled her eyes at the hopeless girl. "You better! Now drive faster I'm ready to make some Pizza!" Mina exclaimed. Kyoka sped the car up a bit over the speed limit yeah if she was stopped she'd probably get a ticket or a warning but yolo she was going to have fun regardless.
when she and mina got to her apartment Mina lay on the ground playing with the big husky Kyoka owned. they had set their groceries on the table and began talking about what type of music to listen to. In the end, Mina ended up playing her playlist.
the two carefully shaping the dough to look like pizza. Jiro had made pizza from scratch once or twice before so she had gotten the hang of it once her dough was nicely shaped she set it onto a pan and looked over at Mina who was struggling horribly. "This is hard!" The girl whined.
Jiro silently giggled to herself putting sauce on the pizza. "my pizza looks like Sero on a fucked up Tuesday." Mina exclaimed. Jiro glanced over looking at the square-shaped pizza that had blotches of sauce unevenly spread. "Is Sero a stoner by any chance?" Jiro asked a bit concerned. "only when he feels like it." Mina rolled her eyes before giggling innocently.
"Have you heard from Momo?" Mina asked as she sprinkled cheese onto her creation of dough and sauce. "actually no I do know she's coming back this Wednesday though." Jiro smiled as she put pepperonis on her pizza.
"That's great just in time for Valentine's day we're gonna get clubbing!! Woooohooo!!" Mina cheered. "Mina, do people ever ask you bout me?" Jiro questioned. "I'd like to say no but the truth is people ask more than they should." Mina muttered. "I hate that honestly" Jiro sighed. "It's fine though it doesn't really bother me!" Mina smiled.
"Hey, Kyo!" Mina peered her head a soft smile spread on her pink lips. "Hm?" Jiro responded grabbing the pans of pizza and placing them in the oven. "The other day I went ice skating with Kaminari, Sero, Bakugo, and Kirishima." she started. "And I asked Kaminari how you guys met after he told me that it was his second-time ice skating the first was with you." Mina brought up Jiro's face stayed unfazed but she was quite amused and curious as to where this was going.
"I just wanted to ask what was he like. Y'know when you guys were a thing and not in whatever mess this is." Mins sighed sitting up on the counter.
Jiro paused momentarily and stared at the curvy woman sitting on her counter curiously "Well he was an idiot, which I mean in general, but he was funny, sweet, charming even, he was kind, and he cared a lot about me despite everything." Jiro explained. Mina frowned lightly at the girl's words.
"He was always there when I was stressed or needed a shoulder to cry on and he didn't pressure me into anything and we could talk for hours without ever getting bored, it's a shame really that even good things don't last I know he probably deserved better than me anyway." Jiro smiled softly at the girl her eyes glistening as she talked about the energetic blonde who she had called her ex.
Mina couldn't help but frown at the sad expression Jiro wore as she said that. "But it's okay, I'll find somebody else to love eventually," Jiro added. Those words ached Mina. "C'mon you can't tell me you don't miss him not even a little bit?" Mina huffed.
"Uh." Jiro hesitated. "No," Jiro admitted. Mina sighed "We both know that's a lie." Mina sadly smiled. Jiro stayed quiet momentarily. "I broke up with him Mina I can't miss him," Kyoka muttered, Taking a seat beside the girl. "Yes, you can! there's something your not telling me I know it." Mina claimed.
Jiro sighed. "You won't give up will you?" She murmured looking away. "Of course not!!" Mina reassured her. "Hey listen I'm no expert at love or anything but it's pretty obvious you and Kaminari have some sort of tension going whether it's sexual or awkward is none of my concern but it's leaning more on the sexual side if you ask me," Mina replied giggling.
Kyoka rolled her eyes. "Do you promise," Jiro muttered? "Promise what?" Mina asked tilting her head. "That you can keep a secret," Jiro replied. Mina blinked innocently and hesitated for a second. "I promise." She replied nervously. "So as you caught on I do miss kami know he was bright and always cheered me up it's a lot to go through, but I ducked things up for us, and if it's been forever but I thought I should try to fix things so-" Jiro rushed hee words being cut off.
"You bought him a pony?" Mina asked. Jiro's facepalmed. "No. I'm in the middle of writing him a song but I'm struggling horribly." Jiro groaned. Mina's eyes widened in excitement.
"You're writing a song?" She squealed. "yeah! it's nothing special I just wanted to get a sincere apology out to him and maybe my feelings." She mumbled. "Can I see the lyrics so far?" Mina asked. "Yes, you can't tell anyone about this though especially not him." Jiro's voice was stern.
"I promise I won't!" Mina whined Jiro sighed reaching for her bag that was conveniently on the counter. "This also means you can't interfere with things. You got that?" Jiro asked. "I understand I won't interfere with your lives," Mina murmured now while Mina loved gossip this was something she was willing to keep in her heart.
Jiro handed Mina the book flipping to the page of the lyrics. "Hey this is like very personal I guess but I just wanted to know if there was anyone else who knew about you and kami," Mina asked taking a pause.
Jiro pondered for a moment opening her lips. "Well I never told my friends but my parents knew and so did his mom I had to meet her at some point I guess." She admitted. "Dang y'all have a lot of trust in your parents I could never." Mina laughed. She soon hushed and began to look through the book.
Jiro sat awkwardly for a few seconds before getting up to check on the pizzas. A few seconds passed and When Jiro turned off the oven and looked back at Mina she couldn't help but see the girl tear up. "Uh? Mina?" Jiro called out concerned.
"This is so cute my heart is literally broken." Mina cried. "I'm pretty sure I should be the one crying, not you." Jiro chuckled awkwardly shutting the book. "Let's just ignore the song and eat some pizza and have girl talk yknow?" Jiro suggested. Mina nodded wiping a stray tear from her cheek.
Well, the night was going pretty well and Mina and Jiro were laughing at dumb things they did as kids. They talked a whole lot so much that they hadn't realized the time. Kyoka decided that it was safest for Mina to sleep over since who knows what could happen outside at 3:46 in the morning.
By this point, the two were already comfy on the couch with their blankets and pillows looking up at the dimly lit ceiling. it had been silent for a few moments now.
suddenly...
"Yknow I think I like Sero," Mina uttered into the dark room. Jiro slightly laughed before speaking. "It was quite obvious honestly," Jiro replied. "I don't know I've been in denial for a few weeks now," Mina muttered blushing red luckily she didn't have to hide it. "So what's your plan?" Jiro asked.
"There is none I've spent my whole life trying too hard for guys who didn't deserve it," Mina spoke out. "Besides if he doesn't like me I don't wanna ruin the friendship we have now." Mina confessed.
Kyoka stayed silent swaying a hand through her hair she started at the ceiling her heart feeling just a little heavy. "I'd tell you to go for it but I know I can't be talking," Jiro stated. "Besides I think you should wait until he makes a move," Jiro added.
"Yeah. Maybe I will." Mina whispered allowing the room to fill with a peaceful silence the two drifted asleep not long after.
