-Venus POV-
We are now going undercover in a taxi since I won the bet earlier, I got to drive the car. Booth was in the back seat as Temp got the passenger seat. Booth then says into the walkie-talkie, "All right, everybody keep their distance. I don't want to spook this guy." I was happily driving the car as Temp asks, "I have a question?" Booth quickly says, "No, you can't drive. We're undercover and I'm the taxi driver." "Then why is Venus driving and passengers don't sit in the front seat." "First, you are not a passenger, okay. You're both a trainee. And I'm training you both how to drive a taxicab and it is Venus turn practicing." I then see through the mirror that the motorcycle was driving past us a bit as the person turns to look at me for a few seconds as I just looked ahead with a smile. The guy then passes us to head towards the truck as Booth calls it in, "All units be advised. I got a motorcycle with no plates. I started to drive a bit faster as he makes a left turn. I also make a left turn as I see a bag placed on the ground as I press on the breaks as Booth says, "Whoa. Easy." The car stops as I say, Get down?" I grab Temps head and push it down as she says, "What? Why?" I quickly reversed the car and look back starting to drive backwards away from the backpack that was placed on the ground and also made sure that Booth has also ducked.
We didn't get away that far enough as the backpack explodes as I put myself a bit on top of Temp to protect her as the car flips over and back up straight. We were all injured as I got a cut along my face as I was going a bit in and out of conscious. I look to the side and see that Temp was out and Booth was still conscious as I as we groan. Booth was in better shape then the both of us as I looked at him, "Are you all right Ranger?" "Yeah. How about you?" I chuckle, "As painful as it could get. Temp is out though and I won't be able to break down the doors though. Get Temp out first." "Okay." Booth was able to get out as I shake Temp to wake up. After a bit she groans as Booth tells her, "Don't move." He gets to her as he says, "Put your arm underneath my shoulder. Come on, you ready?" Booth helps Temp out as I unbuckle my seatbelt and get out through the window as well as my back land on the concrete. I groan as Booth comes over with Temp and takes his hand out for me. I grab it and smile, "Thanks."
Temp comes over to me as we start checking each other, "Are you okay Ven?" "Yeah, I will be fine. How about you?" She nods as I smile, "That's good." Booth then says, "Paramedics are on their way." I then lead Temp to sit down as Booth also sits down on the sidewalk with us." Temp then says, "He knew who we were because I was sitting up front." Booth retorts back, "No, it was because of your bad acting, that's what it was." "What, back at the vault?" I sigh and stand up as Temp continues, "I was good." Booth counters, "No, you were loud. That's what they call overacting." "You shouldn't have shushed me- that's how he knew." I grew a bit irritated as they weren't helping in on the situation as I say a bit coldly and loudly for the two to hear, "Both of you stop. Neither of you are helping right now on the situation." We see an agent coming towards us as Booth then asks them, "Who's got the motorcycle?" "Nobody. We lost the follow car."
Booth was mad, "Damn it!" I then ask calmer, "What about the truck?" "It's fine." "It seems that he knew the truck was a decoy. He wasn't trying to get the skeleton back." I look at Temp seeing her shoulder and going over to her as Booth says, "He was trying to kill us." I then say, "Ranger, look at Temps arm. There is a gash and something stuck in it." Booth quickly looks at her arm and grabs it checking it, "Oh, all right, easy. I got it." I rip the bottom of my shirt as Booth takes whatever was stuck on her arm as he asks, "What is that?" I quickly wrap her arm with the piece of cloth that I ripped off and stopping her arm from bleeding as the two looked at the thing. Temp then says, "It's a human tooth." I looked at it as I then said, "He put human teeth in his bomb for shrapnel." I looked at Booth as he start thinking the same thing as me as he says, "He was trying to kill us because... we knew his next target, the Corruptor, that lobbyist." I nod as I start dashing to the car with Booth behind me as Temp says, "Wait... Wait, I want to come." We looked at her, "Sorry Temp, but this time you need to stay there and help out here." She sighs as I take the passenger seat as Booth drives us off to Mr. Porter's place.
We made it to the house as Booth and I take out our guns as he kicks down the door as we point our weapons and look around, I look up seeing Mr. Porter as I nudge Booth and point up. Booth goes up to help him as I slowly start following him as I see the guy start running past us as Mr. Porter says that the guy had a knife. I looked at Booth quickly, "I got him Ranger, just help Mr. Porter." He doesn't get a chance to argue as I already ran off following the guy. I follow the man around the corner as he swings over a branch and goes over a fence. I follow the same not wasting any time as I start to slowly catch up to him. Over the fence I slid down and land on the ground smoothly as I still chased the man.
He tried to stop me by throwing things on the ground as I still didn't stop. I see him go behind a bush as I hear a child scream. I raise my gun at him as I see him come out with a little boy as he uses him as a shield. I freeze a bit but maintained calm as I say, "Drop him." The boy screams out, "No...!" I get the kids attention, "You are going to be okay." I give the boy a sweet smile as I then say to the guy, "Put the kid down. Put him down." The guy hesitates a bit not really knowing what to do as if he wanted to listen to me. But he then jumps in the pool with the boy. I see in a few seconds that he was going to keep the boy submerged underwater as I did not hesitate and jump in the water quickly with them. The man sees me coming and lets the boy go and starts swimming away. I ignored him and focused on the boy as I quickly grab him and swim to the surface quickly.
Once our heads were out of the pool the boy started to cough and cry as I held him close consoling him as I see the man looking at my way as if he wanted to see me come up to the surface. Once seeing me up he ran away leaving me confused. But that didn't matter as the boy was safe. I started saying to him, "It's all right, it's over, okay?" A minute later since the guy had escaped Booth was able to find and catch up to me as I start swimming over to his direction with the boy. I handed the boy to Booth quickly as he wraps his sweater around him as I say, "Sorry Ranger. But I couldn't leave the kid to drown and watched him escape." "It's okay. I would've done the same thing. Here let me help you out." I nod as he gives me a hand up. The paramedics arrived right on time as they checked all three of us. The boy and I had got a blanket to keep us warm. As well as Booth and I getting our injuries treated. I needed to get stiches for the cut on my forehead as I sigh. "I was doing so well not getting injured."
It was late as Temp, and I decided to visit Russ in jail. He came in the meeting room as he sees us as he then asks, "Tempe, Ven, what happened to you both?" I smile and scratch the back of my head as Temp answers, "We got blown up." I nod as we left him confused as Temp continued, "Russ, I never told Dad that you should turn yourself in to Booth." "If I'd come to you, you would've told Booth anyway. What do you mean, blown up?" I then speak, "It's a case that we are working on right now. We in a cab undercover as a bomb exploded and our car flipped over..." Temp then cuts in, "It's our job. We're trying to put a bad guy away." Russ then asks, "You mean in here. With other bad guys like me. And Dad." I shake my head, "You aren't bad Russ, just poor choices from time to time. But that doesn't make you bad." Temp then decided to add, "There are levels of bad guys, Russ. And you're not even on the first level." I looked at Temp with a bit of a nervous grin, "I'm not sure if that is a complement Temp." Russ then says, "Why do I feel like you just called me a sissy?" Temp then says, "I wanted you to hear it from me, Russ- Dad lied. I never told him it was safe to come back." "I had to come back, Tempe." "For Hayley." "Yes. But they are gonna put me away after my parole hearing."
Temp then says, "It's not just that you violated parole. They think you know something about Dad's murder case." "I don't! Nobody believes anybody in this family. What... maybe I'm just like him, right?" I looked at Russ with a bit of sad eyes as he continues, "A liar? Not worthy of trust." I shake my head as Temp says, "Don't say that." "I am just like him. I am. I had a family, I left them." Temp then says, "You haven't killed anyone." I nod agreeing as he says, "That's the most reassuring that you can be? 'Hey, Russ, congratulations on never killing anyone." I smiled a little as I then say, "That does sound nice. If anything, Russ, wouldn't that make me more like dad then you. I have killed many people and gotten away with it. Plus, being reassuring was never Temps strongest suit.
Temp and Russ looked at each other and sat down with me as he then says, "You are not like dad." Temp nods, "He's right. Plus, you did what you needed to do in order to save others lives." I smile a little of them trying to cheer me up as Russ asks, "Levels of bad, right? And I'm a sissy." I shake my head as Temp says, "It's a good thing, Russ." I add, "She is right and that's okay since you have me. I would be on the higher scale of the levels of bad since I am the strongest and fearless between the three of us. So, I will make sure to protect you both from anything just as both did for me when I was very young." We smiled at each other warmly as Russ says, "Thanks for helping Hayley. I love that little girl like she was my own. You believe that, don't you?" I look at Temp as she nods, "Yeah, Russ. I believe that." I add, "Plus that is why we chose to help, since she is our niece and family helps each other out as much as we can." He smile gratefully as Temp then says, "I think its time for us to head out." I nod as we said our byes and left.
It was the next day and Temp went to the FBI headquarters to talk to Carolin.e about helping out Russ. I went to the lab as Zack had found something when checking the bones. "These are the marks left by Gormogon's teeth. I reversed engineered a dental set. So this is what the front plate of Gormogon's teeth looks like, top and bottom, from incisor to incisor." I nod following along, "Okay." "These are the teeth from the bomb." The teeth start aligning up with the other picture showing a perfect match. I nod, "It's a match. It was Gormogon's tooth lodged in Temp's shoulder." He nods, "The tooth found in Dr. Brennan's shoulder was chipped. In fact, all of the teeth we found, almost a full set, were chipped." "It doesn't look like it was caused from the explosion." He nods again, "Yes, it was not. These marks here were made by common, hardware store pliers." "He pulled out his own teeth?" "I don't know. Certainly, they were removed with pliers." I smiled, "That's what happened, Zack. Gormogon pulled out all his teeth, one by one, with pliers, and put them in a bomb. Which means that he was trying to kill us that time."
Zack called us down back at the vault by the deposit boxes as he explains, "What I'm doing is smothering the phosphorus with argon, thus giving Booth time to reach in with tongs to remove whatever's inside the box before it ignites." Booth looks at him, "Why me?" Temp then says, "Obviously because you have fastest reflexes." "Fine, you can pull the tray." "Fine." I chuckle at the two as Cam asks, "Exactly how far back should I be standing?" I looked at her, "You will be fine as long as you don't look at it when it explodes." Zack then says, "Ready? Door! Tray! Lid! Tongs!" At that I covered Temps and Booths eyes as well as I when the box exploded. I removed my hands from their eyes as Zack asks, "Did Booth get it?" I nod as Temp says, "Yes, Zack, can't you see?" "Not for another three to five minutes." I looked at him, "You didn't close your eyes?" "No." I pat his back, "It's a key with a bar code on it." He nods as I grab his hand, "Let's get out since we have what we need." Everybody nods as I help Zack out of the room and until he regained his vision back again.
Temp, Booth, and I are at Booth's office as we talk to a lady as she says, "You called me to the FBI because you found a key to my office?" Temp then says, "We accessed the information contained in the bar code." Booth adds, "It came up as the key to your office in the Social Services building." The lady looks at the key, "That's not the key to my office." I ask, "Room 1026, Municipal Department of Social Services." "Nobody's used a key like that since the '70s. It was before my time." Booth then asks, "Wait a second has that office always belonged to Social Services?" "Yes, back then, it was dealing with foster care and group homes." Temp looked at us, "Booth, Ven, Sweets is right. That would be a great place to recruit disturbed boys." She then asks, "Recruit for what?... Um, it's just that that man that was in the office is a bit of a legend. He helped a lot of kids find their way." Booth asks, "What was his name?" "Arthur Graves. He's retired now." I ask, "He wouldn't happen to live in a nursing home that used to be a mansion, would he?" She looks at us and nods.
We are at the mansion as one of the nursing employees guide us, "Mr. Graves has been here for five years. In a wheelchair for the last four. Sweet guy, a little particular about what he eats." Booth then says, "You have no idea." "I beg your pardon?" I then ask. What's wrong with Mr., Graves?" "Alzheimer's. The last few months he's gotten pretty bad." Booth asks, "Is he lucid?" "He comes and goes. Hey, Arthur, some nice people here to see you." Booth speaks first, "Hey, Mr. Graves. FBI Special Agent Seely Booth. Listen, we got a court order here to get a dental imprint from you." Temp got everything ready as she bends down to get the sample as I stand behind her as she says, "Mr. Graves, I'm not going to hurt you. I just need you to bite down on this for me."
She gets close to him as he stars hissing at her. I pull Temp back as Booth and the nurse says, "Hey, hey, hey." The nurse continued, "Sorry. He's not like that usually. I think you may have frightened him." I just smile as I kept on looking at him, "We're sorry about that then. But I do have to ask, how'd he lose his teeth?" "They'd all been pulled when he got here." Booth then asks, "Does he have any regular visitors?" "There used to be a man. He drove a motorcycle. I believe he may have been a nephew." Temp then says to Mr. Graves, "We know who you are. We know what you did." Before Temp got any closer to him Booth stopped her, "All right, Bones, it's okay. Let's go. We'll check out his case files. See what kids he could've recruited. Come on. Let's go." I looked at the man one last time and walked away with Temp and Booth back to the car.
We went to the courthouse as Booth says, "Okay, while I'm here, I'm going to get a court order to monitor Arthur Graves' visitors. Just in case 'Gargonzola' decides to come back and visit his old master." I nod as Temp says, "You're doing that Gorgonzola thing on purpose, aren't you?" I chuckle as we then hear someone, "Hi, Temperance, Venus." We looked up front and see it was Amy as we both say hi back. Amy then looks over at Booth, "If that's who I think it is, I can't really be friendly." Booth nods, "I understand. I'll just wait over here." Booth leaves as Amy then says, "Here. That's for you two." We both get a paper as we opened it up revealing a drawn and colored picture made by Hayley. It had her, Amy, and Russ waving at us and a message saying, "Thank you Auntie Venus." while Temps also said the same thing with her name on it instead. I started gushing about it, "This is cute!! I'll make sure to get this pictured frame and put it up on my office or maybe at home in the living room.... I can't decide." The two ladies smiled as Amy then says, "Hayley's feeling better. She even wanted to come." Temp then says, "Please tell her thank you." I nod, "Yes, do please and tell her if she wants anything just call me and I will get it for her." She smiles and nods.
We then hear someone coming out of a room, "Agent Booth?" We looked over at them as Booth says, "Yeah." "The Judge will see you now." "Great." "In chambers." "Why in chambers?" She just told him to follow as we watched her walking. Booth looked at us as we started to follow him as I gave Amy a wave and told her that we would see her later. We are now inside the chambers as Caroline speaks first, "Judge Watkins, Russ Brennan has already proven himself a flight risk" Russ's parole officer then speaks, "He is attached to his family." The judge then adds, "The same family he abandoned?" Russ adds, "Temporarily." "When his little girl needed him, he returned without any regard for himself."
Caroline then says, "You're his parole officer. We're all here because you're the one who violated him." "Only because it's the law, Ms. Julian. I have a lot of faith in Russ Brennan." Judge Watkins, Russ Brennan not only broke his parole by fleeing the region, but he is also a material witness in an upcoming murder trial." The parole officer then says, "That is a totally different issue that has nothing to do with his hearing. It's an informal meeting to decide whether there will be a hearing." I nod understand as Temp says, "Can I say something?" Caroline then adds, "That is a slippery slope, Judge Watkins." I nod as Russ says, "Can I?" "No." Temp then says, "But you said this was informal. I'm still the Judge and I get to make those decisions. Agent Booth, what are your thoughts?" "I got nothing to say, Judge."
I just looked at Booth with a small smile as the both of us had already discussed about his plans. But we didn't tell Temp for good reasons on her very honest personality as she says, "Booth, please!" The judge then says, "I got a phone call from the Archbishop of D. C. 15 minutes ago. He promised to take a personal interest in Mr. Brennan's rehabilitation." Caroline then says, "For God's sake. Why?" "Also a psychiatrist, Dr. Lance Sweets, who says he believes Mr. Brennan will not flee the jurisdiction again. Plus, a parole officer who is recommending against revoking parole. Why should I ignore all that?" "Because Ms. Davis will simply send Russ Brennan home." That is not my intention." Russ then asks, "It's not?" "Mr. Brennan should be punished." Caroline asks, "Punished how?" "30 days in county jail." I sigh seeing that it was reasonable as Temp did not as she says, "What?"
Caroline adds, "That's nothing." Russ then adds, "Seems pretty harsh from where I sit." The parole officer adds, "Also 18 months should be added to his parole, and he should be forced to wear electronic monitoring." Caroline adds, "That is slightly more than nothing, but only slightly." "I will register your opinion, Ms. Julian, but that's my ruling. If I had a gavel, I'd bang it, but how about the last one out just slams the door?" We all nod and exit out the door. As we exit out Booth sighs loudly then Caroline slaps him behind his head as he says, "ouch!" "I want you to consider what side you're on. Bishops and psychiatrists and bleeding-heart parole officers, that's what's wrong with the justice system in this country."
She leaves as I then chuckle, "She's going to give you attitude than normal for a few days." Booth nods, "I know..." We watch as Russ and Amy give each other a hug as Booth then says to him, "Russ, you've got to go with the marshals." Temp then speaks to Booth, "Thank you again." I nod, "Yeah, thanks Ranger." "I didn't do anything again." I shrug as Temp looks at Russ next, "You should thank him, too." Amy asks, "Why?" I then say, "He saved Russ." Booth then says again, "I didn't do anything, okay." Amy runs over to him and gives him a hug. as Booth didn't know what to do as he says, "Uh, Rus, uh... time to go." I chuckle at his uncomfortableness as he then takes Russ. In the distance I could see the two saying something to each other as they take Russ away. We decided to go back to the hospitable as I sit on a chair and watch Temp read a story to Hayley. Enjoying each other's company. Knowing that we have a lot ahead coming at with dealing with Gormogon. But that is something that we could overcome together.
