My eyelids were so heavy. They felt like they weighed a thousand pounds. I was about to submit and close them entirely, finally putting myself to rest.

That was until I felt someone softly shaking me back into consciousness. I used what felt like all of my strength to open my eyes, and I was met with the face of Marcus Kane.

I blinked my eyes a few times, trying to see if the person in front of me was real. People from the Ark were dead. At least that's what I thought until I saw the Ark come down last night.

"Please," I turned my head to look up at my brother. We were still in the same position with him with his back against a crate and my head lying on his lap. "help her."

"We're gonna help you." Kane assured me as he tried to get me to sit up with my back against the crate. "You're going to be okay."

"Clarke's not here." Raven's quiet voice pulled my attention. There was a woman — someone who I've never seen — kneeled next to Raven. "I don't know where she is."

There was a moment of silence before the woman spoke up, "What happened to you?"

My eyes quickly darted to John, his doing the same. We shared a look before looking back to Raven. I swallowed a lump in my throat, preparing myself for what was to come, Raven, revealing that John shot us.

To my complete surprise, Raven didn't do that. Her eyes drifted to John before replying, "I got shot." A weight was taken off my shoulders, Raven didn't rat John out, and I will forever be thankful for that. "I got shot."

The woman did a once-over to Raven before Kane grabbed her attention. "Abby." When she turned towards the man, he nodded at my bleeding left leg.

Abby, as in Clarke's Mother? Looking at the woman now, I can see the resemblance. They look too similar for you not to notice. At first glance, it might now seem that way, but if you looked hard enough, you could definitely tell.

Abby rushed over and kneeled next to my leg. "You got shot too?"

"Yes." I answered.

Abby's eyes turned to my face, and I guess she noticed the bloody spot on my head because she went to push my hair out of the way to take a look. She then stood up and turned to the guards in the Dropship. "We need two stretchers— maybe three." Abby ordered, and the guards swiftly exited the Dropship.

"Come on." Kane came and held out his hand to help my brother. Kane's eyes darted from John to Raven and me. "I can get you outside. Abby will take care of them."

John looked at me, skeptical about leaving. I gave him a nod telling him that he could go. John took Kane's outstretched hand and got up off the ground. They didn't make it too far before I called out. "Wait." John turned back to me, and I immediately grabbed his hand. I gave John's hand a light squeeze before whispering, "Thank you." With that, Kane helped my limping brother out of the Dropship.

As soon as they left, the guards came back with two stretchers. Abby told them to place one beside both me and Raven. After the guards set them down, Abby came and kneeled in front of me again. "You're the girl I talked to on the radio, right? Joanna Murphy?"

I didn't say anything; I only nodded my head at Abby. I internally smiled at the fact that she remembered our brief conversation. People don't usually remember talking to me, and Abby showing that she did, brought the smallest smiles to my face.

Something caused me to turn my head. Suddenly, I started hearing commotion going on outside. It's indistinguishable, so I couldn't hear exactly what was going on. "What is that?" I asked aloud.

Abby turned her head to look at the open Dropship door, with the sheet still covering it, for a quick moment. "I don't know. It could be one of the boys."

My eyebrows furrowed at the mention of 'boys'. I'm not quite sure what that meant. After a moment or two, the commotion stopped, and I couldn't hear anything further going on outside.

Then through a few grunts and hisses in pain, both Raven and I were on stretches being carried, and no sooner were we being taken out of the Dropship. Abby moved to lift the sheet so Raven and I could be carried out.

Feeling the fresh air on my face was soothing; it was refreshing. We had been stuck in the Dropship for hours, unable to go anywhere, and now... now I felt the cool breeze on my arm. I could see the blue sky; it brightened up my mood in general.

There was something else the brightened my mood, "Raven. Jo." That was the voice of one Finn Collins.

That reliving feeling gets pushed out by another — a more incredible relieving feeling.

Bellamy Blake was standing off to the side, being restrained by two guards. Happy tears immediately started to well up in my eyes. The weight of not knowing for sure if he was dead or alive was just lifted off my shoulders.

We locked eyes, and there was a look in his eyes that seemed like relief and something else I couldn't quite decipher. It only took a second before Bellamy started pushing against the guards trying to get away. "Jo!" Bellamy kept struggling with the guards, trying to break free.

All of a sudden, one of the guards holding Bellamy took out a shock baton and gabbed it into Bellamy's back, causing Bellamy to fall on the ground with labored gasps.

I just about shot up and out of the stretcher to make my way towards him. Until I could feel a hand being placed on my shoulder, I looked back to see that it was Abby; she shook her head at me, telling me I couldn't — or shouldn't — get up.

I quietly sighed to myself and looked back at Bellamy. The guards, we're now pulling him off the ground and to his feet. We locked eyes again; this time, Bellamy knew not to struggle. Everything else was irrelevant at that point; it was just Bellamy and me. We stayed like that for maybe a minute or so before the guards carrying my stretcher went to put the stretcher on the ground next to Raven.

My mind was just on one thing. Bellamy was alive and okay. He's here and alive.

❣︎

I lay on the stretcher as the group made our way through the forest. I didn't take my eyes off Bellamy. He, and the guard that was restraining him, were behind us. Every once in a while, we would make eye contact; it would only last for a few seconds. I was always the one to break it.

I stared again at Bellamy when Finn came up beside the stretcher, keeping the same pace.

"Hey." Finn said softly.

Reluctantly, I took my eyes off Bellamy and looked up to meet Finn's eyes. "Hey."

"It seems like you've had a pretty lousy day." Finn smiled at me.

I returned his smile, "Have you had a better day?"

A light laugh escaped Finn. "No. I haven't." He answered honestly, and I could tell that it was honest.

There was a moment of silence between us. I decided to break the silence; my mood turned more serious. "Where are our friends?"

Finn shook his head and tilted it down. "The Grounders had to have taken them."

I furrowed my eyebrows at Finn's statement. "Finn, the Grounders? I thought they were all gone."

Finn shook his head again. "No. There's more than we think. The Grounder that took Bellamy and me told me that he had to keep one of us alive for the Commander. Whatever that means. But there has to be more."

Slowly, I nodded in agreement with Finn. "You're probably right." I paused for a moment, thinking. Finn and Bellamy had to have a plan, right? "What's the plan?"

"We're gonna go to Alpha station with Kane. Get reinforcements. Get guns. Get you and Raven the help you need. Then... then we go find out friends."

❣︎

It wasn't long after me and Finn's conversations when we came past the tree line, and then I saw it.

The Ark — it was on the ground. I knew this, but it was even more amazing to see it in person. The sun shone brightly behind Alpha station. I'd never thought I would say this, but the Ark looked beautiful. More beautiful than I ever thought it was.

I thought another reason it was beautiful was that it represented hope in a way. Hope that it's not just the hundred on the ground; it was most of the Ark. They could help us make peace with the Grounders, and we could live a peaceful life on the ground.

My brother was now being carried beside me; he had a stretcher of his own. We entered camp side by side, and I gave John a light smile, and he returned it.

All around, I could see people staring at our group in amazement. They were all pointing and smiling, some coming up to us. The people in our group were reuniting with people at the Ark, making me smile.

We didn't stop; the guards that carried me and my brother kept moving forward. I assume to a medical tent of some sort, but I'm not sure.

Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Bellamy being taken in a different direction. He turned his head back and was now looking at me. Even with the increasing distance between us, I could see the small smile he was giving me.
