A couple weeks ago, my cousin who was joining the national guard. Had committed and been sworn in and everything said she didn't want to do it anymore. And we thought we had convinced her to go through with it because if she didn't show up to boot camp she would be classified as AWOL and get a dishonorable discharge and be fucked for the rest of her life but it didn't work. Now I think she managed to get just straight discharged instead of dishonorably but still.
