KENZIE'S POV

"Don't be nervous. You look amazing." Paalala sa akin ni Pierce habang nasa labas kami ng gate ng bahay nila at nasa loob pa rin kami ng sasakyan niya.

Kanina niya pa to pinapaalala sa akin and it still doesn't sink in my head. Kinakabahan talaga ako sa mga magulang niya. What if they don't like me?

Katulad nung sa mga parents ng ex ko na si Pierce noon. They don't like me because I'm a useless and brainless girl. All I do is to make trouble. Napahiya ako noon pero mas napahiya si Pierce. All the time he was defending me pero ang ginawa ko lang ay manahimik at tanggapin ang masasakit na salita ng kaniyang mga magulang.

"This isn't my first time meeting the parents of my boyfriend, Pierce." I said still looking down at my cold and shaking hands.

"Oo nga pala. Hindi ako ang una mong karelasyon." Mapait nitong sabi. "But my parents will be the last one that you will meet, Laura. Huwag kang kabahan. They will like you. I'm sure of it."

I smiled bitterly at him. "And that's what my ex told me before I met his parents. He always asures me that I should not be nervous dahil magugustuhan ako ng nga parents niya. It turns out the opposite. You know that I am not an ideal girl, Pierce."

"What the fuck are you talking about? You are an ideal girl! I would not be this possessive on you kung hindi lang marami ang bumabangga sa akin. You are my ideal girl, Laura. My, mine! Kaya huwag mo isipin na ang baba mong tao cause the truth is you are damn perfect for me."

"I'm stupid, brainless, a troublemaker. Magugustuhan ba ako ng parents mo kung ganoon ako?"

"You are not brainless or stupid! Matalino ka Laura. You aced every writing competition! You also passed your exam because of your determination. Hindi ka brainless, you have the passion to work hard just to achieve what you want. At kahit hindi ka magugustuhan ng parents ko— which is hindi naman mangyayari— wala silang pakealam sa babaeng pinili ko. I'll still fight for you."

I bit my lip to stop myself from crying. Gusto nang tumulo ng mga luha ko pero pilit ko itong pinigilan dahil baka masira yung make up ko. I don't want to waste my 2 hours make up just for this night.

Pierce grabbed my hand. "Huwag kang umiyak. Sige ka. Baka hindi ka magustuhan ng parents ko dahil iyakin ka. Sinabi ko pa naman sa kanila matapang pa sa tigre yung girlfriend ko."

I laughed at his retort. "Damn, what would I do without you?"

"You'll die." He replied and before my hand  slap on his head he stopped me with a peace sign. "Joke lang!"

Nung nakahinga na ako ng maluwag, pumasok na sa gate ang sasakiyan ni Pierce. Meron guard na nagbabantay sa maliit na guardhouse katabi ng gate. Tumigil muna saglit si Pierce para batiin ang guard at ganoon din ito sa kaniya.

I understand why they have guards. Exposed sa public ang pamilya ni Pierce kaya kailangan nito ng security sa loob ng bahay para maprotektahan sila ng maayos kahit na nasa loob sila ng subdivision.

Mahaba ang daan papasok sa bahay nila. Actually I expect that Pierce's house will be like a mansion. But his house has an average size, just a little bigger than ours. It's a modern type of house that has two floors.

Pero malawak ang espasyo ng garden nila. Pinapalibutan ang bahay ng iba't ibang klaseng bulaklak na mula pa siguro sa ibang bansa yung iba. Meron din ibang mga halaman na ngayon ko lang nakita. Kahit madilim ay naaaninag ko pa rin yung garden nila dahil sa mga ilaw na pumapalibot dito.
