Astrid's mouth dropped unconsciously in surprise, what Hiccup just told her explained so much but also caused so many more questions,
"Erm, we- a-, wow" Astrid stammered struggling for words, Hiccup just nodded his head hanging down at his work sadly,
"It's fine this is why I don't tell many people, not a great conversation starter to have at dinner right?" Hiccup joked giving a lopsided smile yet the smile didn't reach his eyes, Astrid just lightly laughed and nodded before grabbing his hand,
"Thank you," Astrid spoke Hiccups eyes widened confused of why she was thanking him, "thank you for telling me and trusting me with this" Astrid clarified smiling lightly, Hiccup smiled genuinely now,
"I guess that's what friends are for" Hiccup said holding Astrid's hand back, Astrid suddenly froze her eyes widened, 'That's what friends are for' does that mean Hiccup trusted her and saw her as a friend, Astrid returned Hiccups smile and nodded,
"Well I say let's get back to this boring project huh?" Hiccup said looking back down at his work Astrid started laughing,
"Hell yeah we should" Astrid giggled. Both teens turned back to their work, Hiccup had a bad week, a bad past few years in his life and now here was a friend, a real friend to rely, Hiccup couldn't help blushing while thinking how grateful he was for having Astrid in his life he just hoped on day he could return the favour one day.
