*2 weeks later and they have the okay that they can go back to school*
Paul- you guys can go back to school tomorrow
Sara- I hope that the main people who started that fight have been arrested I don't want you guys going through that again
Paul- don't worry they all have restraining orders so even if they still are at that school they aren't legally aloud with in 5 metres of the kids *he reassures*
Max- problem! I'm still on crutches how am I getting around *he indicates to his leg*
Paul- all your lessons will be in the library until your leg is better but they do need you back in school Max
Max- and what about my GCSE PE what am I supposed to do
Paul- the teacher is setting it all to be course work for you so that you're all caught up and then when your legs better he's gonna ease you into it *he explains*
Max- oh brilliant *he says sarcastically*
Sara- and Harvey and Jess will be working on laptops and you both get an early leave pass for every lesson and at the end of the day so that you don't get caught up in the rushes in the corridors
Harvey- why?
Sara- because of Jess's ribs and arm and your collar bone and rib Harvey *she sighs*
Jess- yeah harv *jess tries to giggle* you probably should have known that
Harvey- oh yeahhhh
Sara- anyway you guys should probably go and get some rest because you have to be up early in the morning so showers and bed... wait never mind maybe just wash your hair if you can and then go to bed
Harvey- mum we're not 7 we know what to do
*the next day*
Tilly- *runs into Jess's room* Jessy! Wake up! *she says jumping up and down on the bed*
Jess- okay okay Tills! I'm awake!
Tilly- mum said that she wants you downstairs in 20 minuets so chop chop *she says sassily while walking out of Jess's room and closing the door behind her*
*downstairs*
Sara- morning!
Max- urgh! Mum! Not a morning person remember!?
Jess- as always *she tries to laugh*
Max- uh yeah *he says hobbling away and looking at the floor*
Jess- *looks at Harvey and whispers* what's with him?
Harvey- *shrugs* I have no idea he's been like this since the day we all got home from the hospital
Jess- he hasn't spoken to me at all. Maybe it's because I told him how I felt... I should never have told him *she says while looking at the floor and walking out of the door*
Harvey- okay max I need to talk to you! *he whisper yells*
Max- what?
Harvey- outside... now!
Max- okay okay
*both boys walk outside and begin the walk to school*
Max- what's wrong with you?
Harvey- more like what's wrong with you?! You've been off ever since the day we've gotten home from the hospital and Jess thinks it's because she told you how she feels about you which I know you feel the same because you've told me yourself but at this point Max she's really starting to think that you hate her. I know why, it's because you're scared of her getting hurt because of what's happened this time. But she doesn't know that so either you tell her or I will.
Max- okay I'll tell her Harvey but in my own time and if you force me I won't do it
Harvey- okay but seriously max she's breaking, we're all she has when he brother leaves *he says with a sigh*
Max- I know... and that's what's scary
*they walk the rest of the way to school in silence*
*at school*
Ayla- hey jess!
Jess- hey!
Ayla- how are you feeling
Jess- oh... I'm in pain but it's better to just get on with it than staying at home and wallowing in self pity *she giggles and then winces because of her ribs*
Ayla- be careful for god sake Jess!
Jess- okay okay you're my best friend you worry about me I'm sorry
Ayla- it's fine, you're lucky I love you
Jess- and you're lucky that I love you too
Ayla- where are the boys?
Jess- I don't know I left the house and walked on my own I just needed some space from them for a while
Ayla- they're your best friends
Jess- were my best friends *she says while walking into the school building because the bell rang*
*first period (music)*
Teacher- ahhh Harvey nice of you to join us
Harvey- a teacher told me to stay behind until the rush went in and got to all their first periods because of my shoulder
Teacher- I know Harvey I'm just messing, take a seat next to Jess
Harvey- okay thank you sir *he smiles*
*on the table with Jess*
Harvey- are you okay?
Jess- I'm fine
Harvey- don't lie to me
Jess- well obviously I'm not fine but it's not because of the reason you think *she lied* I'm just getting weird looks from people because of my cast and how I'm walking *she lied again because people were being really nice to her*
Harvey- well that's ruling the max thing out of the picture
Jess- there is no max thing Harvey he doesn't feel the same and that's fine yes those are my feelings but they wouldn't have come out if I thought I was gonna see him again
Harvey- you only told him your feelings because you thought you were never gonna see him again?
Jess- yes because he looked lifeless in that bed Harvey
Harvey- well it's better late than never I guess
Jess- yeah I guess
Harvey- are you coming with me to see him at lunchtime?
Jess- you're having a laugh right? Of course I'm not. You seem to be the only one grateful for that day but Harvey just because I came doesn't mean that we're all of a sudden best friends again me and you yeah we're best friends but me and max it's going to take me a long time to even be able to look at him let alone coming to terms with being best friends with him and being in love with him *she rants*
Harvey- if only you knew *he sighs thinking he said it in his head*
Jess- if only I knew what?
Harvey- what? Oh nothing
Jess- umm okay...
*the rest of the day dragged and soon they were home again*
