Chapter 16

Nathan's POV:

Mia ran off and locked herself into her room,  I was banging on the door.  I needed her to hear me out.  I needed to explain.  Then David stomped over.  He whispered.  "What the fuck is going on."  "I need to talk to her."  He shook his head.  "What did you do now?"  I sighed and ran my hand through my hair.  "Look, it's a misunderstanding and I need to explain it to Mia."  He held his hand up stopping me.  "It seems like you are always having misunderstanding.  Just let her breath and leave her alone until she cools off."  I punched the wall leaving a hole and then stomped away. 

How the hell did she find out!  Bianca agreed to keep this quite for a week.  I grabbed my phone and called her.  She answered on the first ring.  "Hey babe.  Miss me already?"  She purred.  "What the fuck did you do Bianca.  We had an agreement.  One week!"  She laughed.  "What are you talking about babe?" She said innocently and it made me grit my teeth.  "You know what I'm talking about."  She laughed again.  "Oh are you talking about that Mary girl and her little bastard son?"

"Don't you ever call him that!  I will ruin you!  He's my damn son!"  She went silent.  "What did you do!"  "I didn't do anything.  I was at your parents house going over our engagement party with your mother.  She came by with her kid and your mom just introduced us.  I don't see the big deal.  We'll be engaged by next week anyway." 

"That wasn't part of the deal and you know it!"  "Get over it Nathan."  I chuckled.  "Get over it?  You do realize who I am and what I'm capable of.  If you can't hold your end of the deal don't expect me to."  That Shut her up.  Just as she was about to speak I hung up. 

I need to fix this.  Mia just needs to hear me out.  I can still make this right.  I decided to call my dad.  It rang a few times and then my mother answered.  "Hello?"  "I need to speak with Dad."  "Your father is busy right now.  I'll tell him to call you back."  "No, it's important.  I need to talk to him now!"  "Don't you dare raise your voice to me Nathaniel!  He's in the pool with your son right now."  "Ethan's there?"  "Yes. Mia has some event or something so he's sleeping over."  I sighed.  "Fine, tell him to call me."  Then I hung up.  Damn it!  What am I going to do?

Mia POV:

After I cried for a bit I told David everything.  "That bastard! I don't even know why I gave him the benefit of the doubt."  Before I could reply my phone rang.  I looked at the caller ID to see Benny.  I was about to hit the ignore button but David stopped me.  "Answer the phone Mia."  I glared but answered.  "Hello?"  "Hey Mia, how are you?"  "I'm great and you?"  He chuckled,  "wonderful now that I'm hearing your voice."  I couldn't help but laugh,  "that was a pretty cheesy line."  He laughed too, "yeah it kinda was huh?  Anyways, I know it's last minute but I'm going to the white party tonight and I was hoping you would join me?"  I looked over at David who was nodding.  I decided not to go but then again it wouldn't look good if I didn't show up.  I sighed.  "I'm actually already going.  I'm bringing my friends." 

"Anyway I can convince you to go with me and meet your friends there?"  David was nodding like crazy.  "I guess that would be okay."  "Wonderful, I'll pick you up at 8:30pm?"  "Sure, I'll text you the address.  Bye". "Bye Mia, see you soon.  I hung up and David clapped his hands.  "This is perfect.  Screw Nathan. You got yourself a hot sexy toy to keep your mind occupied."  I swatted him.  "Uh Uh, none of that.  Get that cute little ass into the shower and I'm going to help you get ready."  I did as I was told.  David and Jack decided to Uber there and left about 15 minutes ago.  I was waiting downstairs.

Then Nathan walked down the stair and stopped when he saw me.  He looked me up and down.  "Wow, you look stunning babe."  I rolled my eyes.  "Mia, please let me explain."  I was about to say no when there was a knock on the door,  I quickly walked away and answered,  "Hey Benny."  "Wow Mia, you look breathtaking."  I slightly blushed. "Thank you, you look...." but I was cut off,  "Hello Benjamin."  Benny raised an eyebrow.  "Nathan, good to see you."  He clenched his jaw.  "Wish I could say the same,  what are you doing here?"  Benny looked at me and I glared at Nathan.  "Benny is my date tonight.  So how do you two know each other?" 

Benny smirked.  "Oh we go way back.  We've known each other since elementary school."  I noticed Nathan's hand curl into fists. "Isn't that nice, Benny we should really go, don't want to be late."  He nodded and smirked at Nathan.  "Mia. You are not going with him."  I laughed.  "Very funny,  bye Nathaniel."  I said sharply,  "Mia, please."  But I ignored him and hooked my arm into Benny's.

He opened the door for me and then walked to his side and hopped in.  We started driving and it was silent.  "So, how do you know Nathan?"  I sighed.  "We went to college together.  But I haven't seen him in 6 years.  I won this weekend trip at that charity event but apparently there was some mix up with the dates so he ended up being here."  He chuckled.  "Classic Nathan.  Trying to get you in his house while he's here."  I nodded. 

After that we talked about music and things like that.  When we got to the party there was a valet and a red carpet with paparazzi.  "Wow, they really went all out?"  He smiled.  Then said "Oh darling, anybody who is anybody will be hear tonight." In a old rich lady voice.  I couldn't help but laugh.  He handed his keys to the valet and then opened my door for me.  He gave me his hand and helped me out of the car.  Then he wrapped his arm around my waist and led me down the carpet,  "Benjamin, who is your date?  Are you two a couple?  This is the first time you've brought a female to any event, is it serious?"  Paparazzi and reporters where screaming this and more. 

Benny leaned into my ear and whispered,  "just ignore them and smile."  I nodded and smiled at the cameras.  We finally made it inside and I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding.  "Hey you okay?"  I nodded.  "Yeah, sorry.  Just not a fan of all that attention."  He gave me that genuine smile.  "That's refreshing to hear."  I nodded.  "So you must be very important to get all that attention."  He looked surprised by my statement.  "Do you not know my last name?"  Then I started thinking,  I honestly never asked.  That's so horrible of me.  I shook my head no. "Honestly, I don't. I must seem so rude and inconsiderate that I never even asked." He chuckled.

"My last name is Arnault, ring a bell?" I started thinking and then my eyes grew large. "As in LVMH?" He smirked and nodded, "holy shit, your family is like stupid rich. You own every big name brand in the world! Oh wow, excuse my language." He just chuckled, "You my dear Mia are something else. I don't think I ever met someone who didn't know who I was." I shrugged, "sorry" "nothing to be sorry about. It's refreshing actually. I kinda had a feeling at the charity event when you asked me my name but I thought maybe you were just trying to be coy. But then at dinner I realized you really didn't know who I was." I swatted his arm, "Hey I knew who you were, Benny, I just, oh whatever." He laughed and grabbed us some drinks.

"So Mia Constantine, tell me more about yourself?" "What exactly would you like to know?" He shrugged. "Anything, Everything. Do you have any siblings?"

So we talked, I told him about my brother and that I grew up in Queens. I told him about my parents and about my best friend David. He asked about Ethan, and I didn't mind telling him about my son. He told me about his childhood and family as well. Even though they are filthy rich he had a pretty normal life, well to an extent. His mom may have being a gold digger a only cared about money, but his step-mom who he considers his mom since she raised him seemed amazing and down to earth, not just some trophy wife. He told me about his brother and two sisters. He's the oldest at 32 and currently the CEO but his father still works in the company. His brother didn't want to be a part of the company and owns his own. His one sister is a designer and his other sister is finding herself, which means she just likes traveling.

Before I knew it, it was already 2am. I did see David and Jack and they talked with us for a bit before leaving us alone. Jack found a girl for the night and said he won't be coming home. David left awhile ago claiming he's tired. On the way home I told Benny that we would be leaving early because I felt a bit uncomfortable at Nathan's with him being there.

"Hey, why don't you all stay at my place." As nice as that offer is I felt awkward about that and I think he understood. "Look, the estate is enormous, but I also have a 4 bedroom guest house that's empty right now. You won't see me at all, unless you want to that his." He gave me that smile. "Really? I wouldn't be imposing?" He shook his head no. "It's not imposing when I'm offering. Plus, I'd love to see you again before we head back to the city." I nodded and smiled. "That would actually be great. So, yeah."

"Perfect, I'll text you the address and let the security know to expect you and your guests." I gave him a hug. "Thank you." He placed a kiss on my cheek, "anything for you Mia."
