CHAPTER 34 - Picking up Benji

Finally school was done for today. I was on my way picking up Benji from daycare when I got a call from Robert. 

S: Hi babe!

R: Honey, I've missed you all day! 

S: You're so sweet Robert. 

R: I know, I'm. 

S: Dork! I've missed you too.

R: I'm your dork. I'm picking you up at 7 tonight. Is that good?

S: Yeah, that's perfect. I'm on my way picking up Benji now. Then we're going home and I'm gonna pack a few things for him because he's gonna spend some days with my dad. 

R: Oooh, so that means we got the house for ourselves? 

S: Ey, don't get any ideas old man. 

R: Old man? I'm gonna get you for that! Be prepared young lady!

S: I will be. Well, I'm at the daycare now, so see you tonight.

R: Can't wait. Kiss Benji from me. Bye baby.

S: I will, later honey! 

We hung up and I walked in seeing Benji running towards me. I picked him him and spun him around, hugging him tight.

"Hi baby, I've missed you. Did you have fun today?" I said kissing his cheek.

"Mommy we played with cars today." he said giggling.

"Oh, cars? Sounds like fun!" I said smiling at him.

"And Cassie read a book about Iron Man, it' was so good" Benji almost screamed with excitement. 

"Iron Man huh? That sounds like something Robert would like" I said looking down at my son and thinking about Robert and his childish behavior sometimes. 

"Wobbyy!" Benji screamed clapping his hands.

"No sweetheart Robert is not here. But you'll see him in a couple of days. Tonight you'll get to sleep over at grandpa!" I said rocking him. 

"Yeey, grandpa! Grandpa fun!" Benji said getting excited to see his grandfather. 

"So let's go honey" I said picking up his small backpack with my other arm. 

I thanked Benjis teachers for today and I walked out with him in my arms. On our way home I sat him down on a bench so I could reach for my headphones. I took out my phone and put on shuffle. "Beautiful Day by U2" was the first song. Oh that's so appropriate! I smiled, picked up Benji again and started to walk again.
