Xavier's POV

Why the fuçk did I have to let her out of my sight?

I cursed as I realized that I couldn't even go after her. My ear buzzed and Chase's voice called in,

"Boss, you're not going to like this, but they are moving in too soon. I don't know for how much longer we can hold them."

"I'll get Father to gather up more men," I replied immediately.

I left the room, my sight almost red from how furious I was becoming. The Greenwoodery were highly advanced in both their instruments and training but they were no match to me. I shot down anyone who came in my way.

"Capo!" another voice cried out. "La situazione qui è davvero brutta, abbiamo bisogno di te!" (Boss! The situation here is really bad. We need you!)

"Dove?" (Where?)

"Southwest wing," he said, the sounds of commotion jarring his words.

I made my way out of the room and towards the location that had been invaded. It was chaos. My men had been intercepted and shot down as more and more of the Greenwoodery poured out through the secret tunnel that they weren't supposed to know about.

How the fück did they find out about that?

The first thought that came to my mind was of the little vixen.

No way, my subconscious snarled at me for even accusing her of such a thing.

I breathed out a sigh and dived into the battle.

Bullets came at me from left and right. Good thing I was wearing a protective bulletproof armor.

We were supposed to be the ones to attack Greenwoodery today and instead, they attacked us and turned the tables.

"Boss," the voice panicked. "Incoming grenade at 9 degrees, 28 minutes east."

"Evacuate," I commanded and shot out my last bullet before running to the exits.

The explosion shook up the entire floor as the door flew off its hinges. I cursed as pieces of glass embedded themselves into any part of my skin that was exposed. I shook off the pain and tapped into my earpiece.

"Everything good?" I asked.

"Yes, sir. Everyone's safe. The Greenwoodery seemed to have disappeared."

"That means they will attack elsewhere now. Rehydrate yourselves and meet me at the southeast wing."

"Yes, sir!" he said as the line disconnected.

I headed out to the southeast wing. As I had already suspected, the Greenwoodery had launched an attack here next.

I was right on time.

By now, our men had come out of their shock and were now fighting against the enemy with unfiltered rage and loathing. The surprise attack had given Greenwoodery an upper hand and they had made good use of it, but not anymore.

Striding forward, I took out my revolvers and shot down anyone in my way. I called for one of my men to have my back as I thundered across, dispersing the crowd as men fell back with a howl of pain.

I smashed down my revolver upon one of the men's head as he tried to refill his ammo. He dropped down, immediately unconscious. His mate looked at me nervously, flames of fear dancing in his eyes before the light snuck out and he joined his friend.

The heated metal hummed in my hand as it anticipated announcing more of its grace. My shirt was torn apart as someone grabbed me from behind and slammed my head into the wall. Stars danced before my eyes as rage clouded my vision. I twisted around and punched the man so hard, that he shot backwards and stumbled over one of his fallen mates.
