"Where were you yesterday?" Dad asked the next day, his teeth clenched and forehead wrinkled in worry. Blake had dropped us back off much later in the night because he was unwilling to let go of Rebecca. She was staying over again because her parents were out of town for the past few days.

"Sorry Pa, a few friends of ours thought of it as a nice joke to kidnap us for a bit."

"And who, may I ask, are those friends?"

"Xavier and Blake," I replied.

"Uncle, they are not good news," Ivan warned, glaring at me as if it was my fault that they had kidnapped us. I frowned over at him.

"You don't even know them," I huffed, my hands shooting up in the air.

"I know them more than you realize, Elaine."

"But, they are actually not that bad. Right Rebecca?"

Rebecca blushed. "Yeah, they are really not that bad..."

Eva snorted when Rebecca said that. "Not that bad? Or awesomely amazing?" Eva winked at both Rebecca and I. I rolled my eyes at her.

"What do you think, Evangelina?" Dad asked.

"Uncle—" Ivan protested but Dad held up a hand, cutting him off.

He gave a pointed look at Eva. "Well...I wouldn't say they are bad, your daughter is friends with them and she seems happy..."

"Then that's that."

Ivan clenched his teeth but didn't say anything back. A little while later, all of us gathered up in my room. "What is your problem!?" Eva burst out at Ivan.

"I was just trying to protect..."

"Can't you see? There is nothing to protect us from. Have you seen the spark in her eyes since she's back? She had that really sad and hurt look before and now after talking to Xavier, it's just gone," Eva explained, pointing at me.

"Wait what? I did not have a hurt and sad look before!" I retaliated hotly.

"Oh hush," Eva said at the same time that Rebecca nodded.

"You so did."

Ivan didn't reply and just stormed out of the room. I looked after him with a frown and Eva sighed. She told me that he had been very stressed later. Something about some work my dad had assigned him.

After a little while of silence, Eva and Rebecca crawled to me with a determined look in the their eyes.

"So...?" Eva asked expectantly.

"So what?" I asked cautiously.

"What did he say?"

I rolled my eyes at them. "Don't the two of you have your own lives to be interested with?"

"Nopes," both replied in unison, popping the p.

I sighed. "Well..." I told them what had happened word for word and when I had finished, both of them jumped up and squealed.

"Yes! My ship is finally sailing!" Eva exclaimed excitedly.

"Wait what?" I asked dumbfounded. "He's giving me a chance at friendship, you idiots. Nothing else."

"Oh, but knowing you, you would charm your way into his heart."

"If he has one, that is," I muttered under my breath.

"Oh, don't be so gloomy. This calls for celebration, c'mon. Let's go out and party! And invite Xavier and Blake too."

Rebecca smirked and got off my bed, already texting Blake through her phone.
