"Where are you from?" I asked, curious.

He didn't answer and I rolled my eyes.

Stone. A cold slab of stone. That's what he resembled.

"I can always ask Blake," I shrugged. Before I could turn away, he answered, his voice gruff.

"Italy."

I bit my lip to stop the huge smirk threatening to spread over my face.

"Ha! Knew I recognized the accent!"

He rolled his eyes and turned his head away.

"That's where you were born then?" I pressed, unable to stop myself. "And the colosseum? Is it as beautiful and colossal as everyone says?" I asked, giggling at my own joke.

He gave me a cold stare that immediately stopped my chuckles.

"You speak too much," he stated and stood up, walking away.

I blinked after him. Such a weird guy.

I shrugged and bit into my sandwich, groaning as I heard the bell ring.

"See you later," Rebecca waved and hurried away with Blake. I sighed. Whatever. Why would I want someone to drop me to my class too? Or at least have somebody to talk to on the way.

Feeling grumpy, I slouched out of my seat and began dragging my feet as I walked to History. It was located in the next building and I hurried my steps. My thoughts shifted to the mysterious creature I had met today.

He was so closed off but why?

But his eyes. They were beautiful. The emotions that his face hid was buried in the folds of his eyes. If only one were to look close enough. I recalled how he had snapped when I had asked him his name. Yeah, I wasn't getting that close any time soon.

What a shame that such godly looks were wasted on a crappy attitude.

Too delved in my musings, I barged through a door and stumbled back. I was greeted with 32 pair of eyes staring at me. Some had amused looks on their faces and some glared at me for interrupting their lesson.

My gaze turned to the front of the class where an extremely pleasant-looking Mr. Gunner; don't even ask about his name, stood with invisible steam blowing out of his ears.

Uh oh.

"Ms. Greene," he said through gritted teeth. "I believe the class started fifteen minutes ago."

I believe so too.

Everyone stared at me in shock and Mr. Gunner looked...

Like a cartoon character. Actually, he resembled the Joker a lot more.

I slapped my hand over my mouth, unable to believe that I just said that out loud. The entire class was ringing with laughter. My face flushed a deep red just as Mr. Gunner asked,

"What did you just say?" in a very, very dangerous voice.

Aaaah! I screamed in my head. Death by the Gunner. Well, it actually didn't sound that bad...

Oh no, I groaned out loud, realizing that the words had poured out of me again. Mr. Gunner's mustache bristled and he said in a barely restrained tone,

"Detention, Ms. Greene. And if you disrespect me again, you will be taken to the principal's office and I assure you that I do have the ability to get you expelled."

Thankfully, my mind decided to remain quiet and I just nodded.

Quickly, I scrambled into the only remaining seat. I groaned inwardly as I realized that my cookies would have to wait until detention ended after school.
