"Remember Tango's on the piano and you are the visible face, so stay standing on the X that's drawn on the floor" one organizer said to Bono

"Right" he said totally not paying attention

Bono went without looking at her. He was way too nervous. It was not about being live on TV, or that they were going to be watched by the entire world, or the duet, or the luck of rehearsals, or that all the cameras were on her, or who she really was to him. It was all that together. Combined.

Larry sat on his drums. Adam stood on the left and Edge on the right, as usual. Bono walked to the middle and stood upon the X on the floor. Tango appeared with a hat and glasses covering her face. The lights followed all of them up to their places, the audience shouting hushed, right as they stopped moving and Edge's riff started. Bono's stress vanished as the first sound of music filed the room. He started singing with his raspy melancholic voice, just perfect for this broken heart song

"I'm jealous of the rain
That falls upon your skin
It's closer than my hands have been
I'm jealous of the rain

I'm jealous of the wind
That ripples through your clothes
It's closer than your shadow
Oh, I'm jealous of the wind"

Then Tango and Bono sang together the chorus. Bono standing still in front of the microphone with his eyes closed and Tango sitting in the piano also with her eyes closed

"Cause I wished you the best of
All this world could give
And I told you when you left me
There's nothing to forgive
But I always thought you'd come back, tell me all you found was
Heartbreak and misery
It's hard for me to say, I'm jealous of the way
You're happy without me"

Now Tango sang the 2 verses as Bono remained standing still in front of the mic but now looking down and like hugging himself, waiting for his part as he was hearing and feeling the lyrics

"I'm jealous of the nights
That I don't spend with you
I'm wondering who you lay next to
Oh, I'm jealous of the nights

I'm jealous of the love
Love that was in here
Gone for someone else to share
Oh, I'm jealous of the love"

Both sang the chorus, Tango still with her eyes closed as Bono sang while walking slowly towards the piano

"Cause I wished you the best of
All this world could give
And I told you when you left me
There's nothing to forgive
But I always thought you'd come back, tell me all you found was
Heartbreak and misery
It's hard for me to say, I'm jealous of the way
You're happy without me"

Tango sang herself this last verse, on her own. Bono didn't follow the script in this one. She opened her eyes, to see if everything was ok. And there he was.

Standing next to the piano staring at her with a serious look behind his sunglasses

"As I sink in the sand
Watch you slip through my hands
Oh, as I die here another day, yeah
'Cause all I do is cry behind this smile

I-I-It's hard for me to say, I'm jealous of the way
You're happy without me"

At the time she stopped singing, Larry and Adam stopped as well. But Edge kept going, finishing the song and at the same time changing some chords like if the song wasn't over. The crowd shouted loud.

Bono suddenly grabbed the mic and brought it to his lips. Tango was so confused. This was not rehearsed that same afternoon. He was suppose to sing the last verse and that was it... but he neither do any of those 2 things. He started singing. Only with Edge's soft chords on background
