*Zoya's POV*:
Sweat dripped down my spine and I could hear my heart throbbing hard. I didn't want to open my eyes and witness anything unusual. I wish my sisters woke up now, to at least drink water or to use the washroom.
But no...
They were all fast asleep.
Ring! Ring! Ring!
I gasped in horror when my phone started ringing. I slowly reached for the phone, which was on my bedside table, still hiding under the covers.
Mama.
"Assalamu Alaikum, mama. Thank you for calling," I said, releasing my breath, which I was holding for sometime.
"Walaikum Salam. You sound scary. Is everything alright?" She asked.
"Uh-ah yes. It's just that I was... not expecting for your call," I said, looking for any unusual sights all over my room.
"Okay, darling. I guess you were sleeping. We just reached the airport. I couldn't stop thinking about my daughters. I miss each and everyone of you," she said in a shaky voice.
"Alhamdulilah, mama. Perform your Umra and there's nothing to worry about us. We're all doing well and yes... we miss you and daddy," I said, cheering her up.
"Daddy wants to talk to you," she said, murmuring something to daddy which wasn't clear to me.
"Angel... Assalamu Alaikum. How are you?" He spoke.
"Walaikum Salam, daddy. I'm good. How are you?" I asked, playing with my cushion.
My cushion.
"I'm good. You're going to stay with us only for a few days and I honestly don't know how will I fall asleep without you, Zoya," he said and suddenly a drop of tear rolled down my cheek.
I was speechless. I love my father so much and hearing these words coming out of his mouth made my heart sink. It broke into million pieces. I honestly can't think of that day.
Yes, I'm excited about everything... for my big day.. my new life... my life with my husband...
But....
Leaving my entire family, leaving my home, leaving everything.... that hurts.
"Zoya?" my father spoke, bringing me back from those sensitive thoughts.
"No matter what happens. You're my king and I'm your little princess," I said, wiping my tears.
It's hard. Oh god!!
"You're my lucky charm. And you can always look up to me when life gets hard. But I know Daaniyal... he's a man I've adored and I know he will take care of you more than I ever did," he said, and I smiled at that thought.
